  1. hello everyone ! Jackson from Singapore. Decided to join this forum after my recent Thailand trip to pattaya and bangkok. I must say it's a late decision as previously I had visited Thailand several times. Thailand's a nice place to be in, people are friendly. How I wish I can work or live in Thailand. Yep.

  2. If Thailand was being invaded and the Govt were occupied I would probably see it as my opportunity to take Samui under my control. :-)

But seriously, who in their right mind would fight for a country that is sooooo inept at the top??? You really want to put your life in someone's hands that probably has trouble getting dressed in the morning???

who has trouble dressing in the morning? Don't really get you.

The blind will never see, you sadly. sad.png

ok never mind. I respect everyone's freedom of speech. Just that personally because of my past experience, I feel I owe thailand something, therefore I will defend. Hope u respect my view. Yep.

  4. In my home country I made a vow that I would only fight for my home and family and not religion or politics. I still adhere to that vow, and why would I fight for a government that will never give me rites of citizenship??

I fight for thailand not for citizenship but because they deserve to be protected. Yep.

  5. Everytime I visit Thailand, the people are very friendly to me. Land of Smiles indeed ! So yeah I owe them something, thus I will fight for Thailand.

Notice you have been a member of Thai visa for 3 weeks, thank you for sharing with us us your experiences.

" every time I VISIT Thailand.

I also thought like this throughout my 13 yrs of VISITING Thailand, now having lived here in LOS

( land of scams) for a further 13yrs I am far more aware of the real situation here. It's not all bad, but unfortunately many of the Thai's are.

Hi there. Land of SMILES ! not scams ! ^_^

Anyway, Thailand always give me a good impression, from arrival flight when I board Thai Airways and being greeted with the first 'Sawadee Ka' until the moment when i I board the departure flight. I kinda believe Thai people like Singapore people very much. Once, I told a waitress I'm from Singapore and she was so happy she literally chatted with me and ignored other customers. ^_^

  6. Pattaya has been built up from a small fishing village to its present day state to meet a demand. That demand could be sex tourism , retirees or weekend trippers from Bangkok as it caters for that and plenty more. What is disapointing is that a lot of posters are blaming the Farang visitors or residents for its present state. I would think that the majority of businesses and certainly commercial real estate there is Thai owned by business people wanting to make money from this demand. Initially these people or those before them had a choice to encourage or discourage this demand. They chose to go for the money and encourage it. That is why Pattaya is what it is today, like a lot of things in this world and especially in Thailand , money comes before everything else.

I don't live in Pattaya but near enough for it to be our big city place that we visit pretty much every week or so for shopping, a movie or a good restaurant so i feel qualified to comment here. I don't think i could ever live there, mainly because of the traffic chaos and the overwhelming mass of people. The rest of the good or bad things there I can deal with when i am there. I have my opinions on these but don't believe it is my right to impose my views on other people. As an earler poster said. Its a Thai city in Thailand , it is up to the Thais how they want the place to be, and obviously they want it to be a place to make money from tourists of all types.

Thanks for the background info ! My only concern is that some foreigners take advantage of the locals and do things insulting to them. Perhaps my sense of ethics is too strong.

  7. Pattaya has some good points but so many bad ones. I have lived there, buriram and Bkk so I have a good idea what I am talking about. 18 years in Thailand now. I have had a few long term gfs but enjoy dating. It was impossible to date decent girls in Pattaya as most ( yes most) I would meet were selling their wares or were once in the trade. I went to many different places to meet these girls and also found a few online.... Most were same . The only good girls i found were from out of that area. I have now again moved to Bangkok and although it has its seedy side you can at least find nice girls who are normal. I also hated it when my girl friends would be hit on or asked how much when walking down the street in Pattaya. Too many Thai and farang low lifes all in one small area. Not my cup of tea .....

I passed by many bars and saw many farangs drinking. ^_6

  8. Only Thai people has the rights to say whether Pattaya is good or bad because it's their own country. Foreigners definitely have no say. I'm from Singapore and have only been to Bangkok several times but last month was my first time going to Pattaya. I've heard of news whereby foreigners, especially farangs, got cheated of their money by Pattaya women, but that doesn't mean only Pattaya has crimes. Anywhere can be a potential crime scene.

Although a one day trip, I've visited several places like the Central Festival, the beach, Hollywood Pattaya, Walking Street and agogo bar. Perhaps it's true that Pattaya depends heavily on the sex industry, but personally I still respect the people and country there. Inside an agogo bar, I refrain from looking at the naked girls with sleazy eyes but exited peacefully after the show.

I just hope that all foreigners should be mindful of their manners when in a foreign country.
