  1. Thanks, my daughter was born out of wedlock. We married a couple of months after her bith. So will have to do family court at the amphur. Do you have more information on this?
  2. I just want to know if anyone has gone throught his before and can give me some advice on which is the bets consulate/embassy to go to to get this or do I have to go through immigration or what. What paperwork is needed etc.
  3. I don't know. Maybe because I never needed it before as I was married?
  4. I am recently divorced and am father to a 9 year old who is entirely dependent on me. I had planned on getting a spousal visa in January but now it looks like I have to go the route of getting a different visa. After some googling this Thai Child Dependent Visa option came up. Is it really a thing? Is it possible? Does anyone have any experience in getting this. I have 400k and a monthly income of over 40k into a thai bank acct and my name is on my daughter's birth certificate. If that helps. Mother will be compliant to do what she needs to do. I dont have enough for a DTV otherwise I'd get that. She also attends a Thai school.
  5. I had no idea that was even possible! So you got your Non-O in Vientiane in April this year without having to show the 400k, then extended it for 60 days. Now you're planning to extend it for a whole year. I thought you could only extend it once per entry to Thailand.
  6. So after your 60 day extension expires you plan to change to a non-o single entry spousal then get it extended after 90 days? All without every having to leave Thailand?
  7. Correct. This attached thread outlines process. Even easier now with visa exempt 60 days https://aseannow.com/topic/1315828-visa-exempt-to-90-day-non-o-spouse-visa-conversion-in-thailand/
  8. You mean I can get a visa exempt, then get a non-o inside Thailand at my local IO?
  9. I made this profile about 11 years ago, I haven't been a teacher for about 6 years. Please don't assume.
  10. well yes I could do that, but the point is, with regards to applying for the non-o single entry spousal in Vientiane; my friend told me I need 400k. But I have heard you don't need to, I thought this was only for multiple entry visas (and visa extensions at the IOs in Thailand). So I just need some clarification on this.
  11. I recently told a friend that I’m planning to go to Vientiane at the end of the year to get my 90-day single-entry spousal visa which I plan to use for a 1 year extension. He told me not to bother because, according to him, they require 400k to apply for the visa. I mentioned that people on this forum said that's not the case, but he said his wife actually called the embassy, and they told her the 400k is needed. I’m not sure if there was some miscommunication—maybe they thought she was asking about the multiple-entry visa? In the end he ended up going to Savannakhet, which I really want to avoid since I don’t have time for a 13-hour bus ride each way. I’d much rather just fly. So could someone who's been to Vientiane or know anyone who's been recently confirm this please.
  12. I've heard people trying the 40k monthly method but they always ask for 400k.
  13. Do they also want to see a regular monthly payment of 40k baht a month?
  14. Thank you for the helpful responses, everyone, very much appreciated. Based on your responses I've devised a plan: Visa Renewal: My current multiple-entry Non-O visa expires on August 28th. I’ll leave the country, get a 90-day entry stamp, and then extend it for 60 days, which should take me to the end of January. Financial Preparation: I aim to have the 400,000 THB ready in my Krungsri Mee Tae Dai savings account by mid-December, or by mid-January at the latest. Visa Obtaining: At the end of January, I’ll go to Laos to obtain a single-entry 90-day Non-O spousal visa. Extension Application: At the end of March, I’ll apply for the visa extension with the 400,000 THB. The immigration office will give me a 30-day consideration period, which should cover the time until my current visa expires. Final Step: Hopefully, at the end of April, I’ll visit the Samut Prakan Immigration Office and receive the one-year extension stamp.
  15. You actually have exactly the same Krungsri savings account as I have. The standard savings account I have is KTB. Do you use your Krungsri account to show the 400k? I've heard some IOs only want to see it in a standard non-interest account.
  16. By "consideration period" you mean the period of time the 400k needs to sit in the account right?
  17. My visa expires the end of this month, so I plan to leave the country the day before it expires to get the additional 90 days, and then I'll extend for another 60 days afterward
  18. Sounds good. I’ve been considering going to Ho Chi Minh for the Multiple Entry Spousal visa. I emailed the embassy there and asked about the financial requirements and I received an email back from them saying I need to bring six months’ worth of bank statements, but they didn’t specify the exact financial requirements. It seems a bit risky, so I might just go with your method instead.
  19. Hi thanks for the reply. I have two Thai bank accounts: a standard savings account and another that offers a small interest rate which I primarily use for savings. My income comes from two sources—one through my British Monzo account and the other directly into my non-interest-bearing Thai Bank account. I'll be handling my immigration matters at the Samut Prakan office. If everything goes as planned, I should have the 400,000 THB ready by mid-December. But it'll be the equivilent in GBP and am very reluctant to transfer any foreign money into any Thai savings account in case of it being subject to tax. If I need to access that account, I usually just withdraw in cash.
  20. Thing is, I live here (in Thailand), and have been doing multiple entry non-o's for a good 10 years. I'm thinking now whether or not it's easier to just get another multi non-o with 400k in my pocket rather than doing a single entry then a 1 year extension. Thing is the 400k will be coming from the UK and would rather I show it in my UK account. But on every consulate website I've seen they ask for it to be in a Thai bank. Which is subject to tax.
  21. So it would be best to get a 90 day spousal visa from Laos and then extend in the case of staying with wife.
  22. I am currently on that. It will expire at the end of this month, so I will leave before it expires, then after 90 days, extend for 60 days which will take me to the end of Janauary. So I am currently planning for this.
  23. Now in Thailand. For the past 9 years I have done a non-0 multiple entry spousal visa from Laos (valid one year). Now Laos requires 400k in bank for two months to obtain this visa. So I'm loooking at my best options.
