  1. Hope that some members can help me. Last year the grandson of my friend died. A car killed the boy. Initially the driver of the car did not admit his mistake. At last, in court, he confessed that it was his fault. The court ordered him to pay 500.000 THB to the family of the boy. The driver has a "nr 1"insurance. However, the insurance company refuses to pay. This seems to be "normal" procedure in Thailand. The driver told the family, that he prefers to go to prison than to pay, also he moved to another address. WHAT TO DO? How can the family get justice done and receive the money (also needed to pay for lawyers). The family needed 2 lawyerS, because the first one was corrupt. The family does not want to hire a lawyer again (too expensive). Probably the insurance company with its own bunch of vulture-lawyers is gambling, that the family will stop further action: costs too much money to get your rights here. Good idea very welcome. Thank you in advance.

The dangers of Internet banking.  In Thailand I always go to the bank when I want money,  Doesn't take long and is safe, never use an ATM.  Too many people are hooked on technology and use their phone for financial dealings and put their details on their phone.  Fine till you lose it !

Even if you go there in person and not use any technology like phone, your money can be stolen from your bank account Probably inside jobs, it happened to several persons. Very difficult to convince a bank like Bangkok Bank, that they should pay back the damage. They resist, it can take a year and a lawyer, but eventually they will pay back everything and pay for the lawyer as well.

Fancy showing the dead man lying in the road, YOU HEARTLESS SODS, you disgust me

Fully agree. But blood and misery sells. Pictures by reporters even made in hospital first aid room, where persons are fighting for their lives.

Many do not help wounded persons in the street, they just make pictures instead and share these on the internet.  Happens everywhere, but for me Thailand is in the top-10.  Welcome to the world we live in.

  4. Many of above mentioned answers show, that most people are judging with western ideas in mind. A lot of persons leave their "normal" (what is normal) behaviour in their home country and leave their brains at the airport, as soon as they are on holiday. Remember: you are a guest in this country and an ambassador of your home country. So if you are in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Skinny dipping: do what you please, but do not provoke other people. Adapt a little bit, but for most people that is too much asked.

For average Thai places like Soi Cowboy, Pattaya, Nana Plaza do not represent the real Thailand. But persons hanging around in beer bars and go-go clubs will never understand that.

  5. Like always the human being is superior to animals, so automatically the animal is inferior and the one to blame.

Could it be that we and all these tourists are intruding the monkeys natural habitat? Or do we own the exclusive right?

Many of us are aware of the "civilised" behaviour of tourists, also Russians have a certain reputation.

Could it be that the child provoked the animal, accidentally or on purpose?

And why leave that child unattended?

Sometimes people are asking for trouble.

Hope the boy recovers soon and that he (and his parents) learnt a lesson that they will remember.

  6. In general diesel engines last much longer than gasoline engines.

Once in a Mercedes-diesel taxi in Germany: taxi driver told me the engine was no good, if it did not al least 1.000.000 (one million) km.

Our vet in rural Thailand drives an old Toyota Mighty X; over 600.000 km with the same engine.

I have an 18 year old Mighty X: 300.000 KM; no problems, like new.

Also for a diesel engine the rule is: maintain it well: check water and cooling fluid. Change oil, oil filters regularly.

  7. Absolutely right: many things can be improved at Suvarnabhumi.

But there are many more airports where you are treated like cattle by impolite persons. The bigger the airport, the more impersonal it gets.

Ever been at Immigration at Dulles Washington? very long queues and as soon as an Immigration officer weears a uniform he thinks he can behave like a rude cave man. And not forget the "service" at one of the London airports: despite my request, no basket to put my valuables and clothes in; instead just throw everything on the dirty belt for security check.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Airports are literally the port to a country, so if you are the host, then make it a friendly experience and pamper people, who spend money (tourist or business)..

  8. Racial hatred usually employs a simple, stereotypical approach. So if a Thai Muslim doesn't dress like a Muslim, no one will know that they're Muslim.

    Are you really so IGNORANT

Learn what the word racist means before using it because it make you look like an idiot.

Islam is not a race it is a political ideology and is not based on any specific race muslims can be white, black, brown, yellow or any other shade additionally Muslims come from many races

Calling someone who is anti muslim a racist just shows that the person doing that is a complete moron

"IGNORANT, idiot, complete moron". Wow, Big words. You are treating your wife/girl friend in the same way?

Please look into the mirror, before uttering such, not very socially accepted, words.

You too are not 100% correct: Islam is not a political ideology, it is a Religion.

Many muslims however do not like a separation between Church and State; a principle that also give rights to people with other religions or philosophies.

If people do not give way to each other, fights and religous/political dictatorships starts. But in the end dictators are destroyed. Because love is stronger than hatred.

Love your neighbour, also when they make one mistake by using a wrong word.

  9. These pictures are still "soft" (athough it is a severe problem).

Go to Jomtien, boulevard along the beach between Pratamnak Soi 5 and Pattaya Park beach entrance.

A hole at least 10 meters long, 1 meter wide, 1 meter deep. It leaves about 20 cm width for pedestrians and cyclists.

several persons phoned Pattaya call center, nothing happens.

I see farang from View Talay cleaning up the mess from Thai, almost daily.

On beach road Jomtien I see a farang feeding the dogs, every day, no holiday.

They don't get any support from the city hall.

    A disgrace!.
