  1. From the United States and am finally marrying my longtime (7years) Girlfriend. Her family is happy, we're happy, everyone's happy but I'm wondering exactly what I'll be looking at as far as requirements for the frustrating, ever changing, shifting and often extremely hard to understand Thai bureaucracy.

I'm guessing money and a background check? Never been arrested anywhere and though not extravagant, my income keeps us fat enough. Time frame on this would also be appreciated.

Talking with a Thai at the embassy in Vientiane I was told I would need to go to the US embassy in Bangkok for proof that I'm not currently married, sadly this was all the info he had.. I've never been married so this isn't a problem but any input on this is appreciated. Thanks to any and all who can offer suggestions/solutions etc. Many Cheers!

  2. Hello all!  I've been living in Thailand for almost 8 years now and have had trouble with the power the entire time. Up north to the south, east or west, it's all ridiculous. It matters not the device, I get a shock from everything I plug in. My PC is a valuable asset and I don't want it getting damaged.

    Any advice from any electricians?

  3. Thanks so much for the help!

I'll check it out straight away. I did purchase a printer (hell of a deal second hand I found here on Thaivisa) from an Indian gentleman who had it shipped from Aliexpress because he wanted a different model, which he had sitting on his desk when I went to pick mine up.so I'll drop him a line as well. Thanks again!

  4. Hmm.. No, I hadn't even considered this as I know of 2 others, 1 Thai and the other Indian that have ordered 3D printers from Aliexpress without incident. Do you know of a website or office I might contact regarding this? Thanks for the reply!

  5. I live in Bangkok, I'm from the US and I'm purchasing a 3D Printer from a Chinese warehouse, it's free shipping from Aliexpress. Can I expect to pay any import or other taxes with this purchase coming into Thailand?

  6. Thanks so much for the info! I unfortunately have no idea how to find or even search for, through or via this info though.. I tried googling both "sport365" and "online sports and movies IPTV mobs shut down in Thailand" as well as several variances of each and found nothing other than news of owners being arrested and where to watch football games.. I hate to ask but could you please offer more of a direction?? Thank you again for taking the time to reply!

  7. Hello all!

I've got a 3D Printer that I need to build/refirb an existing enclosure for because of the noise, humidity and to improve all around performance. I've seen several youtube videos of the old Industrial PC Cabinets or even a reasonably sized server cabinet being used. Both are perfectly suited with a little TLC and refirb work.  A taller cabinet would work for more than one but if anyone knows where I might find one or some of these old industrial pc cabinets or used server cabinets please let me know! Condition of unit is not all that important as I'll be doing a lot of work regardless of condition.

The dimensions needed for the printer vary as I have 3 of them but an average size to fit all 3 would be Approx: 50cm W x 70cm L x 70cm H    I've attached some pictures to give an idea of what I need and what I'm looking for.  Thanks to any and all taking the time to look at this!

    Many cheers!

Have you asked neighbors?  Suspect one of them knows the owner and may actually be keeping an eye on it.  As there is no punitive tax structure here for residences people seldom sell unless for a good profit.

It's a beautiful little house but has literally not been touched by anyone since it was abandoned. Overgrown as the jungle has reclaimed it and garbage has been piled up on its perimeter for many years apparently. It sits in a nice area surrounded by nice homes but completely ignored by the neighbors and as mentioned I've talked to darn near all of them.. I walk by it with my daughter nearly everyday and curiosity has finally got me to ask this fine group for advice.

  9. Ha ha! I've been walking by this property for almost 6 years now and have talked to every neighbor on the soi and not a single person knows anything besides the owner, an old woman, left around 97' leaving without notice or anyway of contact apparently.

I'll for sure leave any information I get, should I be able to track her down! Cheers!

  10. Hello,

This topic has likely been covered but I cannot find anything, I have a house near me here in Bangkok that has been abandoned for nearly 20 years and I was wondering if anyone had information on how to find this party? In the states, if you've got the address, you can use the tax assessment office but my Thai family knows nothing about how to even begin. Just want to find the owner to query about purchasing the property.

    Many cheers and Merry Christmas

  11. Hello, I've been reading through this thread and haven't (not a tech savoy phone guy) found what I'm looking for. At least I don't think I have... I live in Thailand, Bangkok to be precise and thanks to my brother in the states, have just received a new Samsung S6 from Verizon which is supposed to have the 2 networks CDMA and GSM as well as a sim slot. I can't even turn the thing on because its asking me to activate it? Its looking for the Verizon network I think because it just sits and spins and says that it cannot find what its looking for.

Does this sound like something anyone has seen before? I'm clueless and want just a bit of info before I go to a shop to ask for help here.

    Cheers!

  12. oP you certainly are getting advise here. Some members have there and done that. You may get other posts soon.

Yes, I am getting some great advise and every post is much appreciated! One thing that looks consistent is that I'll have to begin the process sooner rather than later due to the long wait we'll likely be in for! I'll look forward to other replies as well!

    Cheers

  13. American ? But uses British , such as straight away. Something fishy here.

Ha ha, I was born and raised in Choteau, Montana USA and have been in Thailand for just over 2 years. Whether or not this is a strictly "British" statement, I have no idea but I also don't talk strictly "American" either. I just like the phrase.

There must be a large degree of dishonesty here on this forum due to the doubt of my character but I really am from the states, not something everyone wants to brag about now a days! ha ha! I also use the predominantly Canadian "eh" because I grew up so close to the boarder and would often cross it to fish as well as having many Canadian friends eh! Not because I'm Canadian but because I think it sounds better than the American "huh?"

    Cheers

  14. Wow, thanks everyone again for all the replies!!!

So much information and so much to read and so little time today!!! Ha ha ha!! I'll be busy for the next couple of days for sure!

My GF is not a bar girl nor has she ever been, she's graduating law school soon and has held, until recently 2 jobs while going to school full time. One in government, working in interior design (I know sounds weird) and the other working for her over protective family who she is very close to and I've only now after 2 years been accepted into the fold as it were. This is of course a mute point in this discussion but one that I felt compelled to make...chivalry and everything... Ha ha

Our visit is strictly that...a visit for her to meet my family, see my home and experience a quick burst of the US, then promptly return both of us to Thailand! I'm, hoping of course, that this will not end up costing me a fortune! We are entering into a business, jointly very soon that will be here in Bangkok, at least I think its a business?? Anyway, there will be a certain amount of paperwork involved that I can use per some of the suggestions of large piles of it.

Thanks again for all the great replies and taking the time to read through this!

    Cheers

  15. I apologize if this is the wrong spot for this topic, probably should have read through a bit more. Thank you all so much for the replies! I'm really clueless and am just reaching out for some info/help..

She actually does own some land and her family does have money but exactly how much, I'm not sure but I do know her grandmother (not the nicest lady) is loaded!

She has absolutely no interest and neither do I in staying in the states. Two round trips will be booked when we decide to go, for sure! As far as her education goes, I'm betting on her leaving when she's done with her law degree which isn't far off and graduation will likely be before we would go. This is most definitely a visit to see my home and introduce her to my family.

Thanks again for the replies everyone!

    Cheers

  16. Thanks so much for the link, I'll check it out straight away!!

And, no its not a troll post but thanks for looking just past your advanced member wisdom to drop a comment like that on my first post. Maybe I should know what my adventure will run but thought I'd start here first. Why the unfriendly reply?

Doesn't really matter I guess, is there anyone else wondering if I'm just lonely enough to waste my time "troll" posting stupid questions? If so, rest assured that's not the case. I was just wondering if someone might have some insight. Maybe Thai Visa isn't the place for visa questions.

    Once again, cheers

  17. Hello all,

Curious about traveling to the states with my Thai girlfriend, she is near the end of law school and has worked in government positions prior to her school. She's only 25 and very pretty so I am wondering if she will be discriminated against while attempting to get a US visa? I am a US citizen, slave, lazy american't, whatever you want to call us... Ha ha!

I know nothing about this process and only mention her beauty because of what I've been told online about this process... A young, pretty Thai girl trying to get into the states is difficult because they fear she won't return??? Again, telling me I'm a novice is unnecessary.

Our stay will only be for a month of meeting my family and showing her my home in Montana. She has been pushing for this visit for a few months and I'm only now starting to look at it seriously as a bit of a graduation present. How much can I look to spend?

Cheers and thanks for any help!
