  1. Take a 1000 baht note, write HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGE! on the underside, give it to a Thai friend, have him buy something cheap presenting the note so she doesn't see the writing and leave. Walk in shortly after, buy something cheap, pay with a 100 baht note. When she comes back with the change, tell her YOU paid with a thousand baht note that says HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGE! on the underside.

    Brilliant

brilliant, thats all Thailand needs another conman! Just like his avatar! :o

  2. I was scammed. Had to pay it again. Total bill 1,370 baht for a few beers.

Which bar was it so we can all avoid it?

You should have refused politely, called the Tourist Police and waited until they arrived to sort it out.

Why? So you can pay another 1000thb to keep the police smiling as they look at you iin disbelief and side with the pretty girl! :o

  3. The UK governement has today unveiled it's new Australian-style points system for those wishing to migrate to the UK for work purposes. They have also announced a consultation process to discuss the merits of requiring spouses who wish to settle in the UK to be able to speak English before even travelling to the UK.
A separate consultation, also published today seeks views on the introduction of an English language test before entry for people applying for a spouse visa to help to encourage successful integration.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if the government is consulting on this, the likelihood is it will come to pass. If so, expect some crony of the government to be given the contract to run recognised English language courses abroad, and also expect a marked downturn in the number of Thai spouse settlement visa applications.

    Full Home Office press release.

    Scouse.

I think being able to speak/understand english isnt an unreasonable rquirement - after all seems a bit odd that someone would marry a thai and not be able to have any meaningfull conversation with them.

I dont know, I speak Thai as well. :o

  4. Most anti-spyware programs are pretty intrusive and/or require your remembering to run them every few days. One that quietly runs in the background and updates itself without hassling the user is BOClean from Comodo (the makers of the well-known firewall).

I've abandoned Spybot S&D and Adaware. BOClean is definitely recommended.

    See http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.html

I second that. boclean runs well in the background.

  5.  I have ignored probably the most important advice....she was an escort... I was aware that she had two kids from a Thai boyfriend... Against all advice, and I know it's a regular subject on forums, I paid for the house and land and I allowed the house and land to be in her name
Well, it appears you have a history of ignoring advice.

Is there anything to suggest you will listen to ours?

You married a hooker with 2 kids.

You put a house in her name.

Would you have done that in your home country?

    It never ceases to amaze.

    And advice?

Yeah! Go back to your home country and start again, a little wiser.

How dare you prejudge somone. you are obviously a man without mistakes in your life are you? Sad to speak so unkindly to someone who needs advice and so in need of help. Sometimes people amaze me. :o
