  1. This could have been extremely hazardous if there had been any problems with the dive and they needed the boat urgently. Luckily the divers hitched a ride home.

Yes, the 'captain' of the boat should face charges. He3 should have his name bandied about with everyone so he is never ever used again and feels the loss where it hurts him most - in the pockt.

Are there not international rules covering this sort of thing, at the very least?

I also see this has made international news and can do nothing but harm to the dive and tourist industry.

Yes, a complete a-hole for abandoning the divers.

As an aside, did not one of the divers have a waterproof mobile phone with them? Accidents happen and a phone could be very useful in these circumstances.

  2. OP - we eat cheap women?

What do we do, roast them on a spit and cover them with chili sauce before we sink our teeth into their tender, browned flesh? w00t.gif

Or are you referring to oral sex? But surely that is not physically eating a woman? cheesy.gif

  3. "Ms Juthaporn said the TAT has invited travel agents specialising in the honeymoon market from the Americas to visit honeymoon destinations in Thailand such as Phuket and Koh Samui."

"Y'all gotta tra Pooket, them Thais sure have some classy beaches"

Dang. I thought they were elephants.

  4. Sweeps 3 times a day inside. Twice a day outside. Never any grease or marks where we cook. The scrubbing brush I hear clattering along the tiles in the bathroom. 5 minutes after I am out of bed (after she makes me my first coffee) she is in there too, making the bed and tidying up. I often get told of for washing up until I insist on doing something to help out.

Yes, from a farm in Issan but she knows how to clean.

  5. I took a stroll late yesterday afternoon. Wrapped in my leather jacket against the cold wind. The same cold wind blowing the cobwebs from my bald head, I looked at the leaves falling from the trees and being blown about the streets. Watched as the wintry sun began to set beyond the horizon.

No mad m/c riders buzzing me. I did not have to dodge traffic every step across the road. No smoke from stalls lining every sreet. It was a very relaxing stroll. Enjoyable & different. And that is the whole point, it was relaxing and different.

This does not mean I do not miss Thailand, I do. But, the weather is different and can make a great change.

  6. One persons cheeky remark can be an insult. Maybe you were being obnoxious to the point where you would not shut up so the guy decided to shut you up?

Go to the cops? You cannot really remember what you said or did. What are you going to tell the police? Others will remember you as being drunk. The police will then groan loudly at another drunken foreigner getting into trouble and do nothing.

Learn your lesson and realise what you think is cheeky, humour may be an insult to someone else.

As said in other posts never get drunk here alone.

  7. It is quite cool here in the UK at present and I am actually enjoying it. The air seems fresher. The pace of life seems more relaxed. Yes it gets darker a bit earlier but that also makes a pleasurable change. If it gets cold I turn on the central heating, in the same way I turn on the air-con in Thailand when it gets too hot.

    Each to their own.

The seasons change. The autumn leaves are a wonderful array of colour. Snow on the ground makes it seem fresh (until it turns to sludge laugh.png ). Variety !!

Sometimes that is better than blazing hot sun each day with sweat dripping from your every orifice sad.png

  8. Same in the UK. Living together is not a problem in the majority of cases.

If two people are happy with the way things are, then so be it.

My g/f's family understand we live and sleep together in the same house / condo and they have no problems with it. In fact they are very happy I'll be back next month and they know we will be sleeping at the same hotel together near the family home for the first few days.

Her mother tells her daughter she wants her to be happy. No pressure to have to get married. Obviously not all parents are the same.

  9. Are there not warnings of severe rain due on the 12th for a couple of days? The g/f says the Channel 3 news is carrying such reports.

  10. Surely many of you old folk must remember L.O.N.D.O.N. and S.W.A.L.K. amongst many other abbreviations that were in use before the iternet was even thought of?

AFAIK Any decent search engine will do and they every bit as good as the G one :P
