There can be various reasons, AFAIK, why the online reporting system doesn't work for various people...

    1. Your local Immigration office isn't accepting online reports period.

    2. You have not done a new foreign entry into Thailand in recent years.

    3. You have a new passport number that hasn't been previously reported.

    4. there's some problem with your browser/computer setup...

The online system works, UNLESS you happen to fall into one of the various holes.

Or (5) it's a <deleted> application poorly coded and maintained.

  2. Neither the web-based nor the Android app worked for me. I finally broke down and went in person Monday past (23 Mar). The office (Ayutthaya)was crowded -- I had number 46 and they were on 24) so I assume I wasn't the only one disappointed by the apps.. Happily they created a special desk for 90 day and I was out in 30 minutes. I wish almost daily that there were some competent coders in Thailand. Of course I also wish I looked like Brad Pitt.

  3. I got my extension in late January (being due mid-Feb). It took two tries because, yes!, they wanted one full year's worth of transactions from my bank. And yes! I had to wait a full three working days to get the transactions, since it had to be done at "headquarters" (presumably Silom).

And believe me, that full years worth of transactions extended the time spent at immigration a lot since two "officials" went over it almost line by line.

To be honest, the whole procedure this year was a much larger pain in my fundament than in any year previous. I advise everyone to start their extension well ahead of the due date, because (at least in my experience) they're being more stupidly petty than before.

I concluded that it must be a 'power' thing.

Did my extension a couple of weeks ago and came to the same conclusion. Four immigration officers ruffled through my papers at least two times each, and even though I actually saw the guy add the stamp to my passport, I was made to come back four hours later to pick it up. Previously I always had it handed back to me on the spot. My conclusion was that it was nothing more than intimidation -- a "We're in charge, and don't forget it!" thing. It's harder every year.

I've been told by more than one reliable source that in a worst case scenario situation, Imm will give you 5 or 7 days to clear up affairs.  Of course, there are a lot of other options such as leaving the country and then coming back in (by air) on a visa-exempt status for 30 days, or travelling out of the Kingdom and applying for a SETV which can allow you to extend your time here even more significantly.  Nothing is guaranteed though; it's a roll of the dice.

@ubonjoe has discussed such options in depth in various threads and he is acknowledged as a very factual source here on ThaiVisa.  If you really want the best information available on this, do a google search of this forum for his posts on this subject (The ThaiVisa search engine is horrible; Google will give you much better results.).  In Google search, do your search like this, "thaivisa" "ubonjoe" "visa exempt", for instance. Thank you for your cogent answer. You're one in a mil...  well, several dozen. ????

  6. So, as usual nobody knows what's going on including those charged with implementing the "law". And as usual half a dozen pages of "experiences" clears up nothing. And let's not forget those who stoke nothing but FUD (and you know who you are). So, basically I'm sick of it. What I want to know -- and I assume somebody has a genuine, factual answer -- is if I go for my extension and don't like what I hear or what they want, how long will I get before I have to leave the country? That is, how much time will they give me to clear my affairs? Accurate answers appreciated, thank you.

Some immigration offices don’t “ do “ the 90 day reporting online.
My IO ( Ayutthaya ) doesn’t, yet I did a TM30 online which I presume they have some involvement ????

I went for my 90 day just this morning Oct 15) at Ayutthaya. I had all my papers just like always. Yet, much to my surprise they told me "do online." Huh.

An employee (not, I think, an officer since he was not in uniform) sat with me at a computer near the copy machine, asked for my passport and got on the website. Alas, it didn't work! He tried three times and an officer (in uniform) attempted once. No go. After that they directed me inside (where I normally go) and the nice lady that usually helps me did it all in about 5 minutes. But even she told me, next time "online" (TM30 too).

So? Is Ayutthaya doing the online thing? I guess they're trying, but I left with some trepidation.

Anyway, Andrew, as developments arise, keep posting. Ayutthaya doesn't get a lot of attention and it really is a pretty good office. I hope they work out the wrinkles.

    I agree: absolutely dismal service!

Well there you go Peter. Giving advice on this forum is a fruitless endeavor. Every office does it's own thing. What works one place will not work in another. The laws are written in such a manner that I doubt even the writer of the law could summarize it. Thus any office could interpret it differently and still be in compliance.  Incredibly frustrating!
