  1. The idea is, you just have to take care of your front end and make sure you don't hit anyone, that's all. What happens around you doesn't matter.

This is how they have explained it to me. Though when they drive bumper to bumper behind you, it sort of works against their theory. I have never seen to many 5km/h accidents in all my life (people driving bumper to bumper).

They also dislike people getting in front of them. I don't know if it is a loss of face or they really think they will be held up because of it. But they will go to any extent to stop you getting in their lane.

But in general, their culture is to simply do as you please without thinking about much else. Whatever else happens isn't your fault cos you were just doing this.

In many ways they are more selfish than us, and in many ways they are less selfish than us.

There are pros and cons to all cultures. I still think there are more pros than cons to Thai culture. I do appreciate them the way they are, for he most part.

  2. Your best bet is teaching maths at international school or a school with an English Program. Forget teaching English, if you aren't a native speaker, which is in fashion here, your options are limited.

Since, you have no teaching experience you may have to accept a slightly lesser salary, but it'll be more than you would get teaching English as a non-native speaker.

If Bkk floods, don't come and make Korat city the new Bkk, like they said....don't need all you soap stars and movie stars living here! Shit, did i say that out loud, no room at the Inn, sorry.

That would be the most sensible idea, though. Pick several other cities and develop them a lot, while trying to stop further sinking in Bangkok. After a while, there will be less and less need for Bangkok anyway. And fi they find a solution to completely protect Bangkok, then great.

Korat would be perfect, by the way. Probably Udon too. And Khon Kaen.

If those 3 places were built up to the equivalent of Bangkok, the Bangkok population would drop by about 80%

Problem solved. Haven't even finished my first Archa yet.

    But don't come where I am. tongue.png

By the way, if Bangers does become the new Atlantis, our sleepy Isaan cities are gonna be a whole lot more crowded. Probably with hookers and taxi drivers, so let's not complain, lol, sorry.

In fact, scrap the 1st idea. The 2nd one is better. Let her sink.

  4. The Thai government was advised on this many

years ago and ignored the issue.

The people on the other hand are securing land

and building houses outside of Bangkok waiting

for the floods to come, that's why land prices are

    going up.

    Sirs

As the farangs from sinking Bangkok hate Pattaya, where will you go?????

They will probably go where ever Bangkok gets moved to.

Maybe it is just because I am not a native English speaker....., but to "have" a woman sounds odd to me.
    Odd and 19th century-ish.
Did the woman "have" you too?

    Only the fun ones!

Lets me guess, your women lay there like a sack of potatoes?

That's the Soi Seven Slider (SSS)

I think he lives in soi 7. I saw him come out of an apt on Soi 7 with a little help from his friends.... then once on soi 7, he started sliding out to Sukumvit with his cup.

He often looks for a small puddle to spend a bit of time in.

I am not judging or looking down on him or any beggars. In a country that has no laws (or enforcement of laws) for accessibility or awareness about people with disabilities and how many / most can often enjoy productive lives contributing to society, this is what the guy has come up with.

"He often looks for a small puddle to spend a bit of time in."

    cheesy.gif ....my sides are hurting!

It's not a racist term. If you want, you can decide that you think the word means something different, but don't expect the rest of us to stop using it just because you're wrong.

Simply referring to someone's race is not racist, by the way.

We can agree on that for sure.

I wonder when people will stop categorizing each other by race, since scientifically (biologically) there is no such thing.

I like runny fried eggs and ask for them. Not s fan of Sizzlers but good to know.

Sent from my Lenovo S820_ROW using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

But surely the white should be fully cooked right? I have no problem with a runny yolk, but when the white is still a clear mucus on top ......ewwww

  9. I use the following words and phrases: Asian, black, Middle Eastern, Scandinavian, sort of Italian looking, Russian looking, Latin, Indian....a westerner (which is pretty much the exact definition of "farang").

Would you prefer if they called you westerner? Is it bad that they say it in their own language?

Sorry, but maybe they don't know you name or that you are from America.

Also, i will sometimes say gays, Christians, Muslims, Atheists, scientists, nerds.....it helps talking about the topic of discussion. Other wise, it gets pretty difficult talking about something if you don't use the name.

I think you are over sensitive.

I do agree that Thais are pretty racist and discriminatory, by nature. They simply don't see anything wrong in it.

I think racism is bad, but the word farang itself doesn't bother me.

So will this also cover people using crowdfunding platforms to raise funds ie I know of one Brit farang guy....some lee chapp...... that went online seeking monies for child support for his son and they are residing in Bangkok. The guy uses the funds to drink at the bars and womanise despite having his first wife "killed" by giving her HPV infections that lead to her having latent cervical cancer. He then married his fillipino maid and had a daughter . Would love to report him as his stuff is still online.

Also, can the law be extended to salestaff" who also beg ie like the jewish deep sea mud skincare product people at some pop up stands at various shopping malls and the sales staff at Power Buy and Power Mall or The elctronics sections of Big C and Lotus or Homepro....................Lol!

    Thanks for the rant.

FYI, it is not possible to know who you get HPV from and condoms don't even protect against it. It is considered (by experts) a normal part of human sexuality and virtually every person who is sexually active is thought to have had it at some point in their lives without knowing it and most probably still have it now, unless they have been in a monogamous relationship for more than a decade.

Furthermore, only a tiny minority of women actually develop cervical cancer as a result of HPV. The vast majority of the time their immune systems clear the virus within a couple of years.

The guy may be a scammer, but you can't blame him for transmitting an infection he couldn't possibly have known he had. The cancer causing strains don't produce symptoms, except cancer. The wart producing strains are totally harmless (i.e don't cause cancer).

I would like to see the HPV vaccination given to all girls for free, like in most developed countries. And why not guys too?

And what about a PAP smear schedule?
