  1. :D

We recently put up a perimeter wall and before starting we sought advise from government officials. As long as we stayed INSIDE the power poles there would be no problems. That house is only a meter and a half or so on the wrong side. That's one of the problems in Thailand. People who encroach on public land SHOULD be forced to remove whatever it is they have put there. Here in Loei province we have people who have built dwellings in plain view on government land. As long as nothing is ever done it will continue and people consider it their right to steal land.

Notice the "For Sale" sign - bottom left of the picture :o I'm wondering who's going to buy it without noticing how far it sticks out between the posts! There are two or three other houses in this row, all very close together. I think they started building at the other end and got their sums wrong. :D

:D:D dont worry, some one will buy it! :D:D

  2. I must say i always used to think that tattoos on females should be small, concealed and discreet. That is, however, until i saw some fine examples on some girls backs in BKK. Not only were they professionally done, large and in your face, with a large amount of detail, but to think that these girls had that amount of willpower to sit through those amounts of pain, suggests to me that they are highly spirited indeed........... GOOD SHOW ! not for everyone I know!

  3. Spread the wealth around? why not, im never shy of tipping, good service or just a pleasant personality warrants reward, but make no mistake, its easy for people to get used MAJOR reward, so much so that when little reward is STILL given, sometimes you catch a look thats suggests your being cheap. Meaning, it can dictate how much is expected to be paid next time.....Food for thought....... :o

  4. You have obviously noticed that things are getting more and more expensive in thailand as time goes bye. You just have to look at the reasons why, one of them is westeners mess it up because they come over and pay more than top dollar because they are still thinking in Dollar terms. Some people will never realize that 1-2-3000 baht is a lot of money in thai terms, westernization, here we come..... :o

  5. David1,

You might want to find out who else she is supporting with your allowance before you make any decisions about changing anything.

For example, I give my fiancee (soon to be wife) a monthly allowance of 15K THB a month too... and she is financing her younger brother's education at a BKK University (a law degree), and sends money home to her parents in Isaan. She also pays for the daily fruit, veggies, meat etc that we eat at home. She pays for the drinking water deliveries, the gas cylinder refills, her prepaid phone charge cards, her hair dressing, her magazines, her clothes etc. although I pay for the general utilities like electricity and water as well as the weekly shopping trip to the Tesco Lotus/Carrefour.

If I didn't give her the allowance, her brother would not be able to afford his University education and her parents would not be as comfortable as they are now.

15000? not too much money for you, but rest assured, that is a lot of money to be earning a month in thailand, not to mention your gf is also working. All i can tell you is what ive experienced, i know a couple of great girls in thailand, they get between 6-8 a month, work pretty hard for it as well, and live comfortably as well as the usual family money thing. All i can say is you must be smitten to outlay that much to a person that already has a paid job in thailand. Im not saying that i know your circumstances, but advice from me would be to carefully assess just how much THAI money is being sent.....not much for you, MAAK MAAK for thai.

  6. has any one else experienced this? im sure you have.  You hail a cab, get in, great youve got a ride, but for some mysterious reason the cab driver tells you his meter doesent work....Its only his job, his bread and butter, but because you are farang he will guestimate your fare..which invariably will be 2 or 3 times the amount that you should pay..... :o

I've heard many people say this has been a problem for them before... in fact one of the first peices of advice I got when I started travelling to Thailand was not to use a taxi who doesn't use the meter. :D

However I can report that I have never had this problem, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it obviously does, but so far not to me... :D

    totster :D

when i first went to bkk i got this once or twice, but that was enough for me, now i hate it with a passion, as i continue to hail cabs when the traffic is not so bad, if they try to pull that one, its straight out of that cab and in to the next one for me :D

  7. Heard that Tyson was training for his up coming fight in Bangkok ?

Any posters know if this is correct ? and if so, where in Bkk is the gym....

Also heard that he was here in Oz training.....

    Regards

    The Fly  :o

re: tyson, hadnt heard that he was in bkk, he was the best, not so sure now!
