  1. Been round a few estates in Hua hin, saleswoman saying how wonderful the properties are built etc. After I've listened to all the dribble I slip in the "I'm a builder from the UK" then all of a sudden the quality talk starts to come down a peg or two! On an estate where I live, they seem to gain your trust, get your money and then couldn't give a toss! All this one year warranty is BS. Guy I know had some guttering installed from the developer, a few months later the joints started leaking/rusting he asked them to sort it out... They said that the company they used has gone bankrupt! Who gives a shit! He went through you! This is ongoing.

Another guy wanted to put a small 3x3 extension on the side of his house, he couldn't go independently because it would make "warranty" invalid, they charged him 300,000 baht plus roof!

Only advise I would give is listen to all the BS they give and then go home and take it all in.

I rent on this estate, i like the community around me, for me this is the only reason to ever want to buy.

We've spoken to a few Thais that live in the area and they are dumbfounded why anyone would spend 3/4/5+ million on a property with a small plot of land when you can buy a large plot and build a bigger house yourself.

Because if you have ever overseen a project in Thailand you may understand why people will pay a "premium" for a completed unit.

Agreed... If you can't source the right builder and the materials yourself then a "premium" build is your only option.

Less chance for people to steal from you.

(That includes your wife/gf/agent/builder/landowner, especially if you are a foreigner)

  4. God will pity the terrorists, who head down south to Arkansas, Louisianna, and Texas....not to mention about a dozen other states.

There are about 5 guns in every house. They people all look like the guys on that series " Duck Hunters".

Rest of those European Countries will be frantically dialing for the police, to show up. A luxury that they cannot afford.

Yee haw! Thank <deleted> we've got team America, world police to save us all!

  5. So the estate where Ahmedi Coulibaly grew up was a place where doctors wouldn't make house calls and mail services refused to deliver parcels. Sounds like one of those mythical no go zones to me. I just read an article by a British Muslim of Pakistani lineage who puts the blame for Islamic radicalisation squarely in the court of multiculturalism, he argues the host culture should be asserted to aid assimilation. I would agree, but it's a bit late now. To integrate someone who has been spoon fed a hostile alien culture makes non-assimilation a high probability. To integrate someone who is already alienated is also far more difficult than bringing them up in a manner where the alienation is less likely to develop in the first place. The multicultural mindset seems blind to the incompatibility of certain cultures and makes things worse by trying to rationalize their bad behavior as being due to a list of grievances, suggested by many liberal commentators and then latched onto post-hoc by the already alienated.

The sad thing is that the same number of Muslims might have been far less problematic if the influx was slower and each successive generation was assimilated before more came. But the French ignored the issue, as did the rest of Europe and so no go zones formed with foreign money pumped in to radicalize the immigrants, which was done seemingly in broad daylight with little or no response.

Yes there will be more attacks, many more. I can't see any way of avoiding huge problems without reversing demographic changes, as yet I see little will from governments to do this, but it is only a matter of time before parties are elected who will do this, and by popular mandate.

    Well written, thanks.

Last paragraph though... For me, it will be the people that will do something before any government gets the chance, people have had enough!

  6. BBC are about to run one of those fly on the wall documentaries/reality shows about Suvarnabhumi and the tourist experience there.

From the trailers i've seen it's not going to be complimentary.

I don't think the authorities who okayed the filming quite realise just how bad it could make them look.

That'll be the BBC banned aswell as the daily mail then!

Does anybody else have the urge sometimes to pinch the immigration officers on the cheek and say... "C'mon, give us a smile"

To be fair, Heathrow passport control ain't a bundle of belly laughs either!

Agree with a previous poster about the new terminal 2 at heathrow, we moved 5 months ago and they were unbelievably good and very efficient, let's just see what happens when their at full capacity though.

  7. I think Hua Hin butler do a good service, if delivery is going to be late they'll inform you.

The thing that concerns me and more importantly should concern certain restaurants is that certain foods don't travel well!

Had a delivery from a well known restaurant in HUa hin earlier, it gets good reviews from tourists and expats alike, I've never been to the restaurant myself, I thought I'd try some of they're food today.

    It was awful.....

Would I go and visit that restaurant after the food I had? Yes, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

I just wonder how many others give huanhin butler a go with a view to trying a particular restaurants food only to be dissapointed and then not wanting to visit that restaurant in the flesh?

Also as you can order from as many restaurants as you like, how long is it between food being cooked, collected and then being delivered.
