Yes all the right wing TV members love this. DEATH PENALTY FOR YINGLUCK!!

Fact is, Suthep and his mob have proved themselves unlawful by breaking into govt facilities. Just like the airport...

Fact is, even if Yingluck steps down and the yellow shirts take over, at some point there'll be another election which Thaksin-backed party will win.

Fact is, most people in Thailand (not Bangkok) want Thaksin and his popular policies.

Fact is, Thaksin and whoever he supports/backs will win the next election and the elite/right wing can't accept it BUT IT IS DEMOCRACY.

I dont think Thaksin is as widely adored across the country as you might suggest and I think a lot of his one supporters would probably also think he is yesterdays's man, he has had his time now just retire with grace.

He cant seem to do that though can he, too much time on his hands perhaps? If he has an atome of anything between his ears he must realize that coming back here is not option to consider, too many people who hold a grudge and a gun.

    I agree with nong38.

*Thaksin doesnt have the support and reverie that he had a couple of years ago.

    * Not all TV "right wingers" (not sure that's the correct label for anti Thaksin proponents) want the death penalty for Yingluck but at least would like to see her term in office and her govr with it die a death (metaphorically speaking).

    * 6 months ago PTP or Thaksin backed party could and probably would have won a snap election but I think the tables have turned now making that unlikely.

    * "Most" people (meaning "most uneducated and/or uninformed or with a pecuniary interest") do want Thaksin's popularist policies but there is a vastly growing number that definately dont want them and can see through them for what they are. I think people do want a good government and do want a postive change where the real best interests of the nation are pursued.

    * Thaksin's support/backing of any party at any election CANNOT be perceived as democracy! He and his red thug goonies wouldn't have a clue what real democracy looks like. If he (Thaksin) can't spell "lose" then what chance has he got at being able to spell "democracy"?

  2. As much as i depise Yingluck and the clan ,shouldnt Mark respect the the voting public they didnt vote for him or his party ?

Actually they did. He is an elected MP. In addition, the PT did not get the majority vote. They did get the most electoral votes though.

"They did get the most electoral votes though"

And by doing so got the majority of seats required to form a government which abhisits party is seeking to unseat through extra - parliamentary means through their sponsorship (and active support on stage) of the protests. Not much of a moral barricade there to hide behind, I feel. The Government should feel responsible - khun mark logic at its highest level?

I find it totally mystifying when all these bogus claims of "democratically elected" party keep surfacing when no reference to or acknowledgment of (rampant) vote buying was in play.

Then to add insult to injury we have all the red/PTP sympathizers claiming that Abhisit & Co were complicit in the murder of innocent civilians. Some were innocents and some not but Abhisit hasn't got blood on his hands. He simply did his job,.. albeit rather sloppilly and took too long despite the lack of support from his police "force" at the time.

PTP should have been removed from the ballot bill prior to the election as a rogue party headed by the sister of the nation's #1 public enemy and convicted criminal. If not removed from ballot then YL & co being impeached many moons ago. This type of thing (i.e the May 2010 fiasco through to PTP shenanigens) could only happen in Thailand. The mind boggles at the incredulity of it all.

If all the BS and double standards from the "Democratically elected" brigade could stop that would be nice!

  3. Actually we (wife and me) had some good experiences with them here in Chiangmai.

    1) We had an issue with a property developer and filed a claim in court. About 12 months later the Consumer Protection Office was established and we approached them about the court matter and they said "sorry but now you've filed a civil claim in court which has and is being heard we cant help".

    2) Wifey then discovered a smaller amount that the same developer owed us for and she filed with the Consumer Protection Office instead of going to court. This time a meeting was called and the other party actually showed up. The debt was 40,000bht which I'd written off. Wifey came home same day as 1st meeting with 10,000 cash in her little hand. Basically she put forward a good argument. The mediator suggested 50/50 (20,000 to us) which wifey then said she accept half of as settlement if they paid in cash right now. Done & Dusted!

    3) 5 Years on from incident "1)" still no resolution with developer despite 2 courts awarding full compensation to my wife. Still no end in sight. The plaintiff's attitude,- "som nam na",.. wifey's - "mai pen rai",... mine ,- "<deleted>?"

    4) Earlier this year we paid a builder to do some work which he stuffed up by hiring 2 teams of idiots ( 1 after the other) who liked to drink a bit. We paid him 2nd installment in advance (good faith based on his claim that he needed to pay for some built-in furniture). End result,... built-ins turned up total garbage and we found someone else to finish the job. Sent the original builder complete costs report of what he did Vs what we paid. There was an amount of around 25,000bht overpaid which he agreed he would refund to us but we never saw it despite numerous polite letters of request. After about 4 months wifey went to Consumer Protection Office again and the nice guy there helped her compile all claim documents and sent a summons to the builder. Hearing/meeting date is next month and we are confident something positive will prevail.

Conclusion: Consumer Protection Office are well worth their salt and are very helpful and capable in their duties so we've found.

A very refreshing surprise to find this kind of dept emerging in LOS!

  4. I dont think this will change anything as the lack of wearing helmet is in the mentality. A better police control ( without bribes if possible) would be more effective. I dont remember in Vietnam seeing anyone ( at least in HCMC) without helmet....

I was in HCMC in 2004 and noted that virtually nobody was wearing helmets. I spotted a roadside vender with a nice display of helmets and there wasn't a sole person talkiing to him. Quite a funny sight really.

Maybe the Vietnam govt got serious about helmet laws!

Whoops,... first post was a doubler,... sorry guys!
