Nah, if the court decides that the signature was faked, the 2 gold diggers plus his very good friend will be put away.

Great info, thanks Rich. Having read through it I'm going to avoid undue hassle and buy new from a dealer in Bkk.

Hi all, I'm thinking about bringing this Pioneer AVIC-F710BT head unit (sat nav/music files/dvd player) back to Thailand. It has an SD card slot, but I'm still not sure if it will be compatible with Thai GPS Navi system (by buying an SD card over here) and how much this will cost. Has anyone done this?

If the police think that the "other" girl's life is now in danger they're implying the deceased's family might also put a hit out on her.
Tycoons + money+ pretties = hit men + deception

Ratchatcher is right. There really is nothing special about her...do not believe the airbrushed photos just posted. Just take a look at her in her natural state on TV (ok, she's been crying and certainly not looking her best) and you would not believe she's a TV beauty. That's what you'd see in the morning, including the eye/lip/nose surgery creases.
Feel sorry for the girl, but the general Thai opinion of her is that she's been through a string of rich Thai bfs and expects to be treated royally. Bit of a khun noo. This didn't work out in her favour. I'm not sure if they had children, but if so she is incredibly selfish doing this because of loss of pride/gifts/attention.

stray domestic-bred animals were raised for eating were they? Just because they happened to be strays? I hope the above comment was sarcasm.

If you dont know Phra Ram 9 cafe and others like Villa Cafe then you havent been in Bangkok very long. For a very long time these venues were the breeding ground for countless acts that were very well known in Thailand many of which made national television. The Chern Yim clan were regulars. In my early days of learning Thai I sat at the front and tried to banter with Note Chern Yim. I got a laugh, then was ritually slaughtered for the benefit of the baying crowd!
Sounds intriguing...I tried to google some past incidents but couldn't find any. What were they? Been here a long time and remember a lot of incidents but not this clan. All I know is that Note Chern Yim is an actor/director.

Right opposite my condo. The grubby shark fin restaurant is always busy with dodgy looking characters...not that it implies the victim was one.

Just had an amazing opportunity to hear Vox Olympians at the BAV show at the Landmark hotel. Hurry...few hours left!
Designed and built in the UK and just starting to be sold through a few Thai distributor they are, as audiophiles and the audio press confirm, what I could call the best speakers in the world. I've heard a lot of expensive 150K ish speakers but these are just mindblowing with their delicacy then lifelike dynamics regardless of any room acoustics issues.
The MD has already sold 2 pairs at the show...and they cost 500,000 GBP per pair. The rich in BKK are getting richer.
It's a smallish show but there is some incredible equipment there. 100 baht entry and some stunning PR girls.

So this is my dilemma: married in Thailand, wife is now in UK (resident and working and doesn't want to return to BKK to divorce, but is content to divorce amicably if I begin it), I am in Thailand working, she has lost the original marriage certs.
I went to the Amphur and got the only copies they give (Kor Por 2, written certificate, not the red bordered certificate). Got them translated and applied for the divorce in the UK. Letter came back that they need the original certificates. However, I understood that no original certificates can be re-issued, so either I explain this to the court or is there another option?
Secondly, the letter said the divorce petition must include the exact same names as on the marriage cert. However, my wife changed her first name a couple of years after marriage and so her visa, passport and everything in the UK uses her newer name. Will this prove to be obstructive?
Any help, advice or experience with the above very welcome!
Thanks

I've just encountered a divorce hurdle. Married in Thailand, trying to divorce in UK (as that is where wife lives now). Original marriage certificates "lost", so I got a copy from the Amphur office in Bangkok (no need for police report, 10 baht per copy, but this is an official written version of the red certificate). Got this translated and sent to the court in the UK. Letter came back saying the original certificate is needed. Now, as far as I'm aware, an Amphur office cannot re-issue this.
I will write again to the court saying this is impossible to get, and wait for the response. Someone else must have had this problem?

Ok so those foreigners look like garbage, do you think Thai security in gogo bars are nice guys? I wonder how many it took to eject those 3. I would expect them to be pretty cut up in a photo too.

Brilliant information for me to go on, thanks guys.
Sorry for confusing though....definitely only two of us in this mortgage despite my lack of brackets suggesting otherwise :-)

For a joint mortgage between me, a foreigner with a work permit, and my wife, Thai Bangkok resident with good mid level office salary history, how much could we possibly get for a house? Combined monthly salary of 135,000.
Married less than 1 year matter? Both mid 30s
Work permit 1 year....do I need a 2 year permit?
What's the likely deposit needed based on the maximum mortgage amount?
Could deposit be brought over in cash or have to traceable by intl bank transfer?
Many thanks

Hi tom, from mrt Rama 9, walk on Rama 9 road past fortune on your right. About the 4th soi on that side, go down it to the end and you'll see a big overhead sign saying "meechai mansion" (also seen it spelt Veechai Mansion). This is in effect behind fortune but not the very next soi behind it.
Go in the building on the right, ground floor, turn left and his shop is there. Smaller than before, nothing greatly interesting. Definitely less turnover of new stock. I found him to be sticking to what I consider high prices for the age and condition of the equipment, hence why he's not doing so well. For example old jbl l15s were 12000 baht in his shop, then 6000 baht on bahtsold.com.
Don't forget checking the main thai hifi buy and sell site....www.noom-hifi.com

If more people who were ripped off by the police had the balls to stand up to them, confront them publicly and humiliate them the RTP wouldn't be so confident in getting away with whatever they please with foreigners.
The pattaya police are scared of him.
Who honestly believed he'll get shot? Of course he won't. It's too public already...he had the right idea. All he needs to do now is get a little proof and contact DSI or some police complaints bureau to take things further. Why let anyone steal from you without doing anything about it afterwards?
It's fantastic that one, just one, foreigner can intimidate the RTP out of injustice when the rest of us run and hide despite giving out hundreds of thousands of baht for nothing.

Just today I've found out I now rent the same room as this poor girl. I can tell you that the railings are normal condo height and on the balcony there is a tall round glass table (with ashtray) and two bar stool type chairs. It would not be possible to sit in a chair and topple over...would have had to be leaning over the balcony. I just feel sad, understandably.

Thanks, I'm open to listen to studio monitors...after all Event Opals which I heard gave many more expensive passive/amp home hifi combinations a real challenge.
I wonder if I can find those jbls in Bangkok?

Does anyone have any leads on a good secondhand system or active speakers being sold please? Been looking for 2 months and demoed new Elacs, Kefs, Swans but none have really been good enough to make me spend 30,000 baht.
Mr Balance has overpriced his kit so I had to rule out some Meridian D600 and JBL L12 speakers, so as space is limited I've run out of places to look.

Obviously someone who's never been to the beach bars in Phuket, Samet etc. then to see how brazen the lo-sos can be. Often succeeding too.

Foreign women get raped here by Thais. Fact. But from the horrific scene photos it really does seem more like a hate crime. David does look like he's been attacked from behind, plus condom (I'm guessing dna from inside may not always be detected). However...major question for their friends with them that night: was there anything hostile between Hannah and someone inside AC bar? Or even previously?

Can we get these photos/videos above sent to some Thai media too? One way or another we need to communicate to the higher authorities that a) the photos and CCTV footage strike a real resemblance,
the CCTV looks like it's been tampered with and c) ask why no DNA test has been done on the sons.
Intouch Toovichien appears to be at Stamford Uni but I can't see Warot in his friends list..
in-car Head Unit from UK compatible with Thailand GPS ?

Just to give you guys an update regarding my car hifi journey here. I brought back from second hand focal KR 3-way component speakers (from ebay UK) in the hope of installing them in my Honda Civic here. However, I found a great shop called The Voice behind The Nine shopping centre on Rama 9. Brilliant family owned business, very friendly, English speaking and a great demo room where you can instantly switch between speakers and amps to hear the difference.
In fact, I wanted an amp to drive front component speakers and back coaxials. The guy in the shop said I shouldn't get one straight away because the head unit I liked (a top range Pioneer with GPS, around 30,000 baht) was so good and powerful I wouldn't be able to hear the difference. But I A/B tested it anyway with a 15,000 baht JL Audio amp. He was right. No difference at all! He saved me 15,000 baht.
The component demo was incredibly valuable. I had expected to want the Focals or Morel drivers, but it was clearly the JL Audio CS3 series which were better than both. So I sold the Focals to them for what I bought them to the shop, bought the JLs for front and back and had it all installed and set up with an hour of tuning. No subs or amps bought and it's bloody excellent. Punchy, clear and loud. Exceeded all expectations. 60,000 baht total.
I highly recommend this place.
