1. I spent last November & December in Burma again, on a film project.

Flew from Mandalay to Putao...excellent flight in a small twin turbo.

Like others have said...there's no need to retrace your steps. Burma

is safe. The people are very friendly. The food's a bit strange but good

and both Myanmar & Dagon beer is OK by me.

    Go have fun.

    Thanks Sunshine.

No problems, in fact easy, unlike the Thailand BULLSHIT!---Scams.

Burma is going to be the NEW Thailand!clap2.gif

Why would he want to go to a civilized country when he is such an ultra right wing fundamentalist who does not welcome foreigners? I am glad he is banned, banned from Australia too and hopefully the rest of the world until that country starts to act like an adult rather than a petulant child.

To be honest, I don't know what this whole "doesn't welcome foreigners" rhetoric is all about. Even under PM Prayuth, all you ever hear about is "welcoming" more foreign tourists to this country and as we all know, the 24-26m foreigners that supposedly enter per year are not individual tourists, but entries made. The number of unique visitors may actually be 8m foreign tourists per year and the whole reason for short term visas is so visa runs are necessary to prop up the visitor numbers. Sure, attempts have been made to stop all the visa running on visa exemptions, but that's because the country wants to look serious about not having people abuse the visa exemption, perhaps in preparation for the AEC. It doesn't mean foreigners are no longer welcome. Quite the contrary. So obsessed is Thailand with tourism and numbers, every foreigner in Thailand is considered a tourist, even permanent residents. As long as they make an entry into Thailand they are counted as a new tourist. Only once someone becomes a Thai citizen do they cease being a tourist.

  3. Could be giardia but a stool sample would be needed to confirm. It seems you have taken only Norfloxacin which is not the treatment for giardia.

Flagyl (metronidazole) is the only treatment that would work.

Best to see a doc to prescribe the correct dosage and duration of treatment which may require repeated doses or an extensive period.

Charcoal will help with absorption of the toxins in the intestine and is always useful.

Norfloxacin is a very potent antibiotic and would have destroyed much of the normal intestinal bacteria so probiotics as well as foods such as natural yogurt will be useful to re-establish those; the more normal and balanced the intestinal bacteria is, the better the resistance to other infections.

Flagyl with alcohol results in quite severe reactions and should be avoided.

Why? Flagyl with other pain killers are ok, I may be wrong FBN. Used for the right purpose, they are fine.----FBN don't frightened people, We need to make people happy when they die!smile.png Stop your baloney!ermm.gif

  4. Well; clearly not if you are a teacher living in Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, or a drug dealer in Klong Toey.Thais may be having some problems with Martial Law and the 'Security State' here; but farangs? I think not. So where else? Is there anywhere else you would propose? Free from threats of starvation, militarised police, war and drug wars, suffocating religious threats, overpopulation, drought etc.?

  5. Fair enough. If you want discount as a local show your residency.

What's that got to do with anything? Most of us pay more taxes than the locals and get treated like tourists who pay no tax. Tax payers contribute to park maintenance through their taxes, so we have already payed our dues. Anyone who works here ho pays tax (can show wp/teacher licence, etc), should get the local rate. That's how it works at Khao Yai and that should be the standard. Anywhere else is a rip off.

Odd man. We now proclaim master "Culicine"----you no longer have to pay 2.00 US dollars entering our parks---You are Magical!-----You arenow thai and have no more claims as you pay the 10.00 Thai tax!--------------------Culicine--Magic Man from Afar!

    IDIOT!

  6. Canary, you are a fool and a liar. You are copying and pasting an article from years ago. I know, i read that article before i move here years ago. There is only 1 night market here (not many like the article says).

Nobleman----be polite. Buriram has and will be for sometime a very boring town... Good for them.

Udon Thani---freaking rock's. Great places--and superb Hotels with 4 star accommodations. Not to say you're right, I have been there and done that.

1,500.00 baht a night in Udan Thani---(350)---life is better than BKK or PTTY------The food is great---the woman are 20 times better!

Accommodations----------------A+----even for bums who spend 300 baht a night!---I like a pool and free breakfast and ------I like life!---------towels and shuttle sevice.

I have to say for all those cheap Charlies, get a nice room with a pool and free breakfast, free shuttle to airport and in the center of everything!----in the long run----you saved 5 dollars!--------Stupid!

  7. Burirum,NO.Udonthani now that is A happening city.Plenty of farangs, plenty of things to do.You won't be sorry you picked Udon.Go to udonmap

Just wondered why Burriram is so boring?

I have been there many times---I cannot wait to leave-----it's <deleted> a boring town!

All the places hate me as a Falang, I am not a bad guy---eat, spend money, just go away! feeling!

  8. I saw something on Thai social media the other day that said you can check if your SIM is registered by dialing

    True *151#

    AIS *141#

    dtac *102#

I just tried the AiS number, response (in Thai only) that my phone is registered smile.png

Evidently the registration database from last time is still valid.

The message I received with AIS is as follows:

    ได้รับมูลจดทะเบียนแสดงตนของคุณเรียบร้อยแล้ว

Which I understand means that my number is still registered (from the days when Thaksin introduced this measure to counter terrorist bombers)

Thanks Farma!----we need people like you!

    As Farma said:----more info below.

    True *151#

    AIS *141#

    dtac *102#

    These numbers are too busy:

@ this time there will be a 2 month moron stoppage.

    Crazy but true.

  9. I am the one who wrote the post he is talking about.

I would like all of you to go

    Section 4 (6)

And tell me what that means.

I called up the immigration and asked them about a permit for this. She said, if you don't have a sign and you are small no need to get a work permit.

I told her I was worried my neighbour would report me. She laughed and said they had better things to do. She said immigration would not come.

People should really read the national education act. Home tutor comes under section 15 (3)

And 18 (3) it is also protected by the king in the old constitution. 49,51,52.

Which is what section 4 (6) is referring to. Some people talk about taking money. But if you read the act. We are entitled to. The thing that you must do is pay tax. I went out to the tax office on changwatana. They fixed it up for me. I pay a couple of thousand every 6 months. Everybody is happy.

I don't know why nobody understands that section 4. Even the Thai don't seem to know it's there. Education in the home has its own laws. Separate from business and some other laws.

" I called up the immigration and asked them about a permit for this. She said, if you don't have a sign and you are small no need to get a work permit."

I always thought the Immigration issues visas, checks foreigners and anything regarding overstay,etc....

The Immigration is not the right address to ask such a question. What "her", in this case the Immigration officer you phoned said is irrelevant, because the right place to ask such a question would be the Department of labor.

If you have an income, which you now have, you must have green light doing so. I don't buy your story with the tax office and the "couple of thousand baht".

Who's doing the calculation how much tax you're paying? The tax office, based on what you're telling them? C' Mon.........

BTW, good luck with your neighbor. facepalm.gif

I'm not a #### liar. I went to the tax department. I paid tax on my home tutor money. I have the receipt. Call up the labour department. Education as a separate law to other occupations. It is protected. You cannot stop one human from giving knowledge to another human. Go and read the law.
