  1. Thanks!

Would I find anyone in those churches that speaks English or should I bring a Thai speaker?

Taking a complete stranger into the home to help care for your children is dumb. Unless the person comes highly recommended or is someone you know, then I wouldn`t even consider it.

I second that. If you don't know them, why would you give your children to them?

  2. I have had excellent service from the Index Shopping Mall in Chiang Mai. I ordered a set of kitchen cabinets. They arrived on the scheduled day of delivery. They came with two men to construct and install them. The constructors did a snappy and efficient job of work. The driver even assisted the two installers. I am a happy customer.

  3. OK they can stop those potash mines but then they should also stop the farmers in Udon Thani from using industrial fertilizers because that's what they need the potash for. The potash is used to get the potassium needed to make ordinary NPK fertilizers so if you don't want the mine then don't buy fertilizers!!!

Hear! Hear! More buffaloes making more kee is what we need. Not potash.

    1. Pre-heat oven to 450°F.
    2. Beat together 1 stick of butter, shallots, thyme leaves, lemon zest, sea salt and several grinds of freshly ground pepper in a mixing bowl until smooth. Divide into 4 portions.
    3. Using a couple of fingers, carefully loosen each pigeon skin attached to the breast and legs, then work in 1 portion of the butter mixture, spreading it over the breast meat and in between the legs. Stuff the pigeon's cavity with a thyme sprig, tie its legs together with kitchen string. Sprinkle the salt and more pepper over the pigeon.
    1. Heat 3 tablespoons butter and the olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium high heat until the foam subsides. Brown the pigeon on all sides, then transfer to a roasting pan, and roast 15-20 minutes. Use a thermometer to check the internal temperature of the breast without touching bone. At 145°F, remove the pigeon from the oven and let rest 5 minutes before serving. (If the temperature is not at 145°F, continue to roast 5 minutes)

This with the feathers still on?

  4. Do a will!

Immigration has nothing to do with how your monies are distributedblink.png

File the will at the Amphur office. My Amphur had a "standard" form to use. It came from a book of "standard" forms and was in the computer waiting for me to supply the bank account information and property information. No charge, but I supplied cookies all around.

  5. It's a disgrace, and shameful. Jomtien process retirement visas, same day service without the need for visa-agents, even if you arrive mid-morning. Why the f*** hasn't the head-honcho here been held to task by the CM ex-pat club? (or if so, what was the response - and has it been followed up?

I'm sorry, I have no time for those who say if you don't like it, go elsewhere - or platitudes from the authorities. One person processing 20 RVs per day is NOT acceptable in CM.

Yes, there have been meetings between the head of CM Immigration and also his boss, the head of Region V and not just the lowly CM Expats Club, but also the local foreign consuls. Several meetings in fact. What you now see is the result. In other words, nothing has improved except the goats are gone and we have indoor waiting area, oh and the lights come on at 4 am and the toilets are opened at 6 am. All those are "enhancements" from the mall, incidentally, not Immigration.

The local consuls are becoming increasing frustrated. They're reading your emails. Please email your consuls and Embassies with your concerns. This is the best way to "go to Bangkok" to make yourself heard.

At least for now. The next step is to get the Ambassadors involved and they need to hear from YOU!

The local consul is not interested any more than is the CM Immigration Official.

Rather than continuously complaining, why don't you go to Bangkok and make yourself heard?

And how much notice would the take of me? Go talk to CM immigration. Sorry, to have ANY impact, it has to be an 'official complaint' from the ex-pat community. And believe me, I'd willingly travel to Chiang Rai, but because I reside here, I can't get a renewal there or anywhere else, come to that.

The general would probably just re-educate you.
