  1. A number of years ago I met a young girl who did not look at all Thai, but whose biological parents were both Thai. I assume that somewhere down the generations (the father's or the mother's) there had been a mixing of blood and evidence thereof reappeared in their daughter.

  2. A letter posted to the wrong room number in an appartment is not unheard of. Many years ago when I lived in an apartment I often got mail meant for other tenants and I knew who all of them were. However, I never opened those letters as while the room number was mine, the names on the letters were not. I just gave them to their rightful owners.

But yes, in this case, it does seem a little too far fetched.

  3. I just followed your instructions and followed the link I posted above. I am happy to report that there was no pop up warning from Trend Micro this time. So it would appear to be an avatar issue as I originally thought.

Thanks for your help on this. I don't know what I would have done without my daily dose of TV. :)

  4. Oh well, I will just visit from home in the future then. Trend Micro recognizes gravator.com as a highly risky site and when I open many threads the warning window pops up. It only started today and has never been an issue in the past. The last thing I want is a red flag against my name when our office IT Dept runs their reports.

  5. When browsing some threads this morning, I received a warning in a Trend Micro pop up screen that gravatar.com was found in the page and represented a high risk of infection. Now I don't know what to do as I like to visit while at work but the warning will also be picked up by our IT Department :D . I assume that perhaps some users have obtained their avatars from the said site and this is the cause of the problem. But until the said site is blocked or the problem resolved, I shall have to limit my visist to home. :crying:

    Bye bye.

  6. I think some tw#t in a black cape turned up and started doing a superhero/comic hero act. Pointing his finger at some ne'er-do-well from the UK and giving him a mouthfull.

On the other hand, he could just as easily be talking about someone's personal servant. I mean, if he's talking about some caped crusader surely batman would be capitalised.

On second thoughts, the language is so butchered I am probably wrong in both instances. It wouldn't be the first time.

  7. Yesterday was my first anniversary of quitting. 1 year went really quick. It has not been difficult at all. Once or twice a month I may get an itch, but never scratch it. Can put it out of mind in seconds. Best decision I have made in years. Still have a quit smoking book if anyone wants it. I have offered it several times before but no one was interested. BTW the book did not work for me even though it is highly recommended.

  8. The bit about giving laptops, etc. may be a bit misleading. Many firms that provide visa services for fee paying clients and deal with immigration on a daily basis are asked to help out from time to time with equipment, etc. This is like many other gov't departments. Such requests are not made to individuals or for individual visa, PR, etc applications. It is a once or twice a year type of thing. It is usually done above board too and such "donations" are documented.

  9. Well, here in Chiang Mai, one can order a Hayate 125 Fi at last. However, the dealer who carried a number of brands but specialized in Suzuki's too - and has a wonderful service shop - does not sell them any more. I never got the story, but this may be a result of the company's reorganization, one way or another.

However, the "official" Suzuki people were aware of the model, and in spite of my ineptitude in Thai, they let me order one. I don't believe that they've shown one since well before the injected model was produced. They have pamphlets for them too, with nothing surprising about the model, as it is the same as last year's model, except the paint. Two choices only now for colors, and alloy wheels optional for either one. Prices, as always up here, are a little higher than those posted on that price list we all know about; I'll post final prices when I am certain.

Delivery time is one month and I should be ready to wait 45 days for plates and green book. To confirm the order, workers were on the phone, one of them laughing pleasantly, explaining that a falang was ordering. ("Who is buying one of those up there - some sort of nut?") Of course, I'm hoping for a well built thing with spacious storage and zip, cheaper than the new Elegance, the price of which is higher here this year.

On its national web site, Suzuki only shows 2010 models and no accessories at all, just as they reported last year. "Coming soon," it says. Right. Like a manual in English.

Since I've been riding a recent Elegance for 3 months (much better mileage than my MX, and gasahol 91 as well), I'll have a basis for comparison. Also, a single experience to report on the "new" Zuki distributing system. March 19, unless they use the short Feb. as an extension excuse.

Congratulations. TV will soon have a Hayate fan club of two. :D I really am positive that I did not make a mistake in opting for the Hayate for my son. His only complaint remains unchanged. Its too heavy he says. Personally, I like the very solid feel. Most of my experience is as a pillion rider but with over 20 years riding on the back on a daily basis, I have been on just about every brand and model there is available and used by motorcycle taxis. The Hayate just feels so much more there, if you get what I mean.

  10. You can pick up a cheap 2.5 -3.5m whip for 200-300 Baht. I had one that I had used on and off for years that finally gave up the ghost. I bought a replacement one month ago for 250 Baht. I have never needed to shell out much more for a short pole (whip). In any case the high tech whips are not easy to get here in Thailand. I always carry two or three with me when I go fishing. When waiting for bites on my main rod I wile away the time whip fishing. In fact I prefer whip fishing. Great fun. But note I am not talking about those massive 12 meter roach poles they use for competition fishing now back in the UK.

Google "whip fishing" for more info.

  11. First off, I would kick my wife out of the car and drive like a mad git. There is no reason to risk her life as well as the other road users.

In the scenario you raised I would be pretty upset with myself. I would equate my actions as murder or at least manslaughter. There is also the issue that we have been married for 25 years. After that length of time, a change in the next life may be welcome. But oh, no, she has to follow me there too!! Is it possible to feel guilty and pis*ed off at the same time?

  12. Yes there are gay guys working at gay bars who service women. But that was not the question. The question was what would a gay guy pretending to be straight at a straight P4P club do? A straight club has women for sale not men. Women don't go into a straight club to buy a guy. They go into gay clubs to buy guys and straight clubs to buy women.

I know of two clubs that service women only. Men (regardless of orientation) are barred entry, the exception being the male hosts. Both clubs are P4P. So are these two clubs straight? Yes. So a gay guy at one of these places may well pretend to be straight to get a job as a host and service women. However, I must say that these are a rarity and that your conclusions are probably correct. That is, in general, women would go to gay bars to buy a guy.

As to your question, probably drink and chat with the women workers.

  13. Do guys who pretend to be gay at a gay club but are really heterosexual ever take their wife or GF to a gay club?

My mistake, Mark - I was taking your posts seriously.

It would be just as relevant to ask whether guys who pretend to be straight at a straight club but are really gay would ever take their boyfriends to a straight club.

I am trying to be serious but the great gray gay wall of fog sometimes closes in on me.

Since we are talking about P4P clubs perhaps you could tell me what a gay guy pretending to be straight at a straight club is. Because I don't know.

Maybe you could mention why a gay guy pretending to be straight would work at a P4P straight club.

Also I would like to know what a gay guy pretending to be straight would do at a straight P4P club.

Intellectually your statement, β€œIt would be just as relevant to ask whether guys who pretend to be straight at a straight club but are really gay would ever take their boyfriends to a straight club.” makes sense but there aren't any gay guys pretending to be straight working at a straight P4P club in my experience.

How about a gay guy pretending to be straight at a straight P4P club whose clientelle is women. Would that work, basically a gay guy servicing women P4P clients.

  14. Cooking oil is a price controlled product and the price was fixed by the gov't at no more than Baht 38 a litre. The big cooking oil companies claimed that supplies were limited and the cost was so high that if they supplied at Baht 38 they would be losing money. There were claims of hoarding, but probably just waiting for the gov't to up the price (hey that's hoarding isn't it?). The gov't has since raised the ceiling for cooking oil to 47 Baht a litre. Lo and behold, suddenly there are supplies.

There are also shoratges of refined (white)sugar which have been ongoing on and off for quite a while. But that is supposed to be bad for you too. :)
