  1. Mr Boj, I think you might have mis-interpreted my post, I was trying to say that you were not actually moaning, just pi**ed off about the timing.

Sorry Moss, i wasn't aiming that at you. I was just clarifying to all, that i wasn't moaning about the actual test. :D

I personally think, in principle it's the right thing to do. Although i would have preffered a "watered down" version for ILR, maybe focussing on basic UK law i.e. legal drinking ages, sex :o driving legally with insurance etc. With a bit of language skills thrown in. Then to do a full-blown test to get Citizenship.

Mind you, if i do become a Paddy, it won't really matter to us :D:D

  2. Thanks to Mossfinn for taking Jonson83 to task over his ignorant post . Saved me the trouble !!

Yeah, Jonson probably works for the Home Office and is on here with his "Governments Hat" on :o

For info, i'm not moaning about the test per se, i am moaning about the way in which they introduce it. When my mrs came over last year, this wasn't known to us. We where just going to wait until she got ILR and after that period, her reading and writing skills would have naturally improved. The next step was to go through the course.

This has all canged now and there are no spaces on the courses. Of course i will try to teach and help her but i'm no qualified teacher, so i could be doing her an injustice.

  3. Hey peeps, just found this interesting article.

The shirts worn by the City team on Armistice Day are currently being auctioned off on Ebay to raise money for the Royal British Legion.

Each shirt, embroidered with a red poppy, is available on the auction web site with the bids well into the hundreds already.

City was the only Premiership club to mark the annual weekend of remembrance in this way, and was inundated with enquiries about the shirts following the match against Newcastle.

The auction for the shirts, which have all been signed by the player that wore them, lasts until December 9. Please check each shirt for the end time of the auction.

    Stephen Ireland

    Squad no: 7

    Date of birth: 22/08/1986

    Place of Birth: Cork, Ireland

    Position: Midfielder

    Height (ft): 5.08

    Weight (st): 10.04

    International Caps: 1

    International Goals: 0

Yet another Academy graduate, Ireland's composure on the ball and eye for a pass made him a permanent fixture in the City squad during the 2005/06 season after impressing for the reserves during the early part of the season.

As a result of those stand-out performances for the reserves he was the obvious winner of the Thomas Cook Player of the Month for Steve Wigley's men during August/September.

Stephen signed a contract extension with City in October 2005 as he continued to go from strength to strength in a City shirt.

The young midfielder was rewarded with a call up to the full Ireland squad in February 2006. Stephen's progress was marked with his first goal at international level against Cyprus in October 2006

  6. For the benefit of Redrus :o a few more profiles of midfielders :D

    Joey Barton

    Squad no: 8

    Date of birth: 02/09/1982

    Place of Birth: Huyton, Liverpool

    Position: Midfielder

    Height (ft): 5.11

    Weight (st): 12.04

    International Caps: 0

    International Goals: 0

The Huyton born midfielder made his full debut for the Blues at the Reebok Stadium in City's 2-0 defeat there against Bolton in 2002/03 season.

Joey scored his first goal for the Club in the 2-0 Premiership win over Spurs at

He continued his run of good form at the start of the 2003/4 season and grabbed his second City goal against Blackburn Rovers in that memorable 3-2 August victory. As a result, Joey was rewarded with a call up to the England U21 squad for their Euro qualifiers against Macedonia and Portugal.

Scored his first goal of the 2004/05 season with a thunderous 20-yard drive in the 7-1 thrashing of Barnsley in the second round of the Carling Cup in September after penning a new deal with City that would keep him with the Blues until 2007.

Ever-present in the side in 2005/06, he began to weigh in with a few goals, most memorably a 30-yard screamer in the 3-2 win over Charlton. Barton ended the season as third top scorer at the Club and signed a new four-year contract with City in July 2006.

Joey started the 2006/07 pre-season in fine form again as he netted a first half hat-trick in the 3-0 warm up win at Port Vale . He carried this into the Premiership as he scored City's first two goals of the season - the first the winner against Arsenal in August, the second the equaliser against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

  7. Cheers Scouse,

So i'm not going nuts (well i might be) :D but it looks like my over active brain, following yesterdays posts, has finally come up with something useful for a change!! :o

I'll call you later me old pal :D

Edit// Whoops just posted at the same time and see your post above. So, the residence permit is 5 years as opposed to 2 years on a SV? But then again, no fees for residence permits and no test !! Oh what to do. I'll have to get her to call your missus, to weigh up the options.

  8. :D:D:D

    Thanks Red.. made my day...

    Great one Red,keep it up

What do you think the score be tonight?

Just heard no injuries ,full squad to pick from

Oh no, not another supporter from outside of Manchester :o:D

Only joking John, a bit of banter here between us blues and reds. Welcome aboard :D

As for tonight. Benfica will spank your bums, turning you all into gibbering wrecks for the derby game.

    I hope :D:D

  9. Blues boss backs Wright-Phillips

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has a future at the club.

West Ham want to sign the 25-year-old who scored his first goal for the club in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Levski Sofia.

I was really chuffed for the lad last night. A ruddy good goal as well. I just hope one day he returns back to us. :D

He said: "I don't want to leave - so why should I want to go anywhere?"

He said that a week before he left us :o

  10. How do you set it up, to get freeview on your computer? I'm in the UK and have 8meg broadband btw.

I have a PC in the UK which has a freeview card in it. I actually use MCE 2005 but you don't have to. You register with orb (www.orb.com) and download the client to your host PC. Then, whatever the PC is watching you can stream over with interweb. If you haven't got a freeview card yet, make sure you get one that is compatible with orb - loads are.

Then to view it, you log into orb (same url) and there is your TV! Not the most secure system and I wouldn't have the family jewels stored on it, but for viewing a bit of telly, it's perfect and free.

    Cheers Cromarty :o

  11. Thanks again people for all of your invaluable advice. Once again it shows just what a top forum we have here on TV :o

you can also use colloquial words and misspelled words in your key words. People often mis-smell words and so you can put them in and get those punters. It may of course not be a good strategy to get customers who cannot spell depending on what you are selling!

Good pint Joe, i never thort of that won :D

  12. ESOL is a English as a second language course. I think she can qualify for it free, if lived here for more than 12 months. So you might have to pay. And yes, some colleges do it, you'll have to check your local one's. But make sure they have the citizenship material on the course or it doesn't qualify.

The citizen test. You buy the book (approx £10) she studies it and takes the test (£34) at a test centre.

I've only found this stuff out today as well, so someone might have better info. Wish my mrs luck as well, withh this stupid change ILR :o

I do not think you need this test, only when appying for British citizenship after 3 years, i think you can get an indefinate stay visa after you have been here for 6 months on a fiancee visa and got married. not sure of other visas.

No Thaicoon. Unfortunately this all changes in april 2007. The test has to be done before you can get ILR now. Before, she just did the 2 years on a Settlement Visa and applied for ILR. Then do the test for Citizenship. Now (well from applications after april 2007) this is all change :D

  14. bkk, many, many thanks for the time out, you have taken to reply so in-depth :o

I wasn't aware of the majority of the things you have said. I will have to speak to the guy who designed the site and start thinking about the key words i need.

As for posting my link. I'd like the thumbs up from the mods first, as i don't want to break any rules. Also, would there be a chance that someone could hack my site if i put it on here. Hope i've not p1ssed anyone off enough for someone to do that but you never know :D

Again, many thanks indeed to you and Richard BKK, Moonfruit and cdnvic :D

  15. Cheers bkk :D

It's against forum rules to post your site link here (not sure if you'd want to anyway), but if it wasn't I'm sure a few members could take a look and offer advice. :o

Yeah that's what i was thinking. I'll pm you :D
