Sounds like you may have been doing the same as me!

When you open the app, select Cardless ATM, and enter your PIN you should see a box titled "Withdraw at" which will have defaulted to Bangkok Bank.  Press on this and select Kasikornbank ATM then Done before proceeding.

Might be, Ill verify next time, thank you

  2. On this topic, it is a bit frustrating when you the get the Online report rejected and instruction to go to Immigration immediately, but no explanation why it was rejected. Could say address does not match TM30, To early or to late filed, wrong arrival date or what ever reason the officer rejected it. And go Immediately? Usually you have another week or two before you actually is getting fined after it has expired. -14 days to + 7 you can report in person.

And on another note, while visiting CW yesterday it was actually nice to se all officers dressed in Songkran t-shirts instead of the normal boring beige uniforms. Took a few minutes before I realized they were not normal visitors.

I do my ol' friend's 90-day on my PC for him, as he is at death's door, done it a few times.

In June, he needs to renew his extension, which is another hurdle to sort if he hasn't departed.  😢

Oh, I hope your friend manage a few more 90 day reports. and they are very very convenient to do online but apparently you have to do in person (or send a messenger) first time after have changed address, been to another country or have received a new passport.

According to the red stamp on my previous notification my next 90 days was due on April 8th. I did the report online. To my surprise I received an email the next day that it was rejected. This had happened twice before. The first time was because I re-entered the country, this is how it was explained to me at CW, the second time because I had a new passport. So this time everything seemed in place for an online report. I drove off to CW where I got my queue ticket at 10:43 a.m. At that time there were 387 in the queue before me. The place was crowded like I had never seen before. Maybe because of the upcoming holidays and the past day off. So I waited and waited but I was assured that I would be taken care of the same day. Around 4:30 p.m. the counter started to speed up without more people being served. A long queue line formed. Suddenly I was tapped on the shoulder by an officer who summoned me into a cubicle together with another elderly farang with grey hair. Here I was quickly served. The explanation for not being able to report online was that “ON” should be read as “BEFORE”. My personal explanation is that their online system was once again messed up and that this was the main reason for the crowd. This was confirmed by some others in the queue who also could not do their report online. This whole 90 days business is an annoying nuisance. But in this case it felt more like harassment. I am probably not the only one who feels that a little more gratitude and respect for those who bring money into the country and often support complete families is due.

I was there also usually it's in and out within the hour.

I was told my online was refused because I had put my arrival date in the online system and the officer said I should not, it's put automatic when I arrive she said, and then she said next time you put arrival date... If I put the arrival date that was 14 January and it was automatically updated why just simple ignore I put it in the online form instead of reject and force me to spend a day in CW. I asked how to avoid this problem next time I've been abroad but my question was simply ignored. So with your information I would guess the first 90day report after a trip to another country always has to be done in person since I believe the arrival date is mandatory in the online form. Another time was also after a new passport, but that is kind of understandable. One time something went wrong with my TM30, they changed from 208/46 (67), my compete house number, to 67 only when my wife do exactly the same report she always have done. The next time after I only put 67, and it worked for a few times. My wife had done a tm30 in feb and payed the late fees and I thought they had fd up the address again.

I arrived to CW just after lunch like I have done some times before when online didn't work, and usually done within the hour. Yesterday I had 366 people ahead of me, and they were serving less than one person each minute, I estimated to be done by midnight. But then they open 5 instead of 3 counters inside and after a short while 10-20 was called at a time to queue up "Manually". And soon they started to take 3 by 3 outside to where they usually handle TM30. At first I thought is was not fair since I was the next in line with number 528. but after I realize they had 3 counters out side and there is was not a que of 3 i believe it was ok. If they would be as effective as they were the last hour and a half there would never be a queue at all.

Also a group of 21 what I believe was Chinese young students living at the same address messed the 10-20 queue up, and all of them apparently had to pay 2,000 baht overstay fee. They probably were up for VISA renewal and needed to show 90 day report. Maybe good idea simply skip the 90 day report and if you have not been in another country within 90 days of renewal just pay the fees for 90 days, and I guess my wife need to pay for TM30 also.

Skip this 90 day reporting crap, and have people to report if you change living address. I have been reporting same address for 7 years now.

  5. When I lived in a condo in Ari I had an American standard kitchen tap. When it started to drip I tried to find a spare valve and failed, som weeks later it was leaking more than just dripping. I took the valve out and tried to find a spare. When I could not find I in desperation soaked the valve with WD40, open and closed it a few times, rinsed it and put it back. Believe it or not I worked perfectly, not a single drop when the valve closed, and I lived in that condo about 4 years after my WD40 repair and it never started to drip again. Might be something worth to try.

    Cheers

If for cost reasons he has to switch the simvastatin equivalent to 20 mg tirvastatin would be 40 mg not 10 or 20.

True and that why I told him to check after a few months if he change, it might be enough with 10mg Simvastatin. Im my case the doctor gave me Atorvastatin 40mg, and after 6 months I was cholesterol free, Then I first lowered to 20mg Astorvastatin, then 10mg, then change to Simvastatin 10mg an everything seams perfect with no changed in diet when I checked 2 more times. With that said it was almost a year since I checked last time so maybe i need to change.

The only advantage I found with Astorvastatin is that is was totally tasteless while Simvastatin can have a small taste if not swollen directly, Astorvastatin is also easier to swallow. But since I have no problems to swallow tablets even with out water i do not care about that.

Thanks , its funny that you mentioned that some doctors try to sell the most expensive tablets , I did ask the doctor , how much will the Atorvastatin tablets cost ?. The doctor looked the Atorvastatin cost up on her hospital screen computer . The cost for the 3 months supply of  Atorvastatin would have been over 2,000 Baht . I told the hospital doctor that I would buy the same 3 months supply of Atorvastatin from a large local pharmacy , which I did at a cost of 1,300 Baht .

    Tom

    .

Yes much cheaper at local pharmacy, I have to verify the Simvastatin price I just remember it was much cheaper than Atorvastatin at my local pharmacy.

Any advice , suggestions or recommendations very welcome.

My suggestion would be to replace the Astorvastatin 20mg with Simvastatin 10 or 20 mg for some time and then check cholesterol levels again. You will save a lot of money changing to Simvastatin. I know many doctors and hospitals try to sell the most expensive tablets even if there is others that cost a fraction of the price.

    Countered by:

Norway as with the highest number of electric vehicles in the early with 81% per 1,000 population in 2020.

Iceland that has 36.8% of electric vehicles per 1,000 population.

Sweden that has 20.6% of electric vehicles per 1,000 population.

    https://voi.id/en/economy/215422

That page has a bit odd way to tell the amount of electric vehicles. Why do state a % of a 1,000 population? the % would be the same even it they say per 100, per 100,000 or per 1Million.

If my wife and I dont run our business via a company but through her personal name, then presumably we would not pay any WHT either way

That is the thing, your tenant that is VAT registered should pay the WHT. Not you. So either your Tenant should pay the WHT to the revenue department or you must do. The rental contract you have settled with the tenant should state who is responsible to pay the taxes. I had an issue with this in my first few months, because the Thai version of my contract stated that I as a tenant had to pay all extra taxes, and in the english translation is stated I should not. So we had to sort that out.

In the normal case, the Tenant pay you the rent -5% that they pay to Revenue department, then if you also are registered for VAT you can then claim that 5% back from Revenue department. If you are not registred for VAT the revenue department keeps the 5%. In my case I pay the WHT by my self on top of the rent to the Revenue department for my Landlord so my rent went up with a few thousand.

Maybe your tenant is already paying the 5% on top the rent to the Revenue department and if so all is OK. If not you probably will get another visit from them when they are asking there their WHT is. You should verify it with the tenant so there is no unpleasant surprises in the future.

  11. I am usually very good to stop at Zebra crossings to let pedestrians cross. One thing I have noticed is that many times i have stopped to let people cross, they just stand on the side and its look like they are waiting for a car to pick them up and many times when I have stopped bikes do not, not even slow down.

In my area they have put up a few zebra crossings with red lights and there is a few issues with them. First issue is that after one has pressed the button to cross it takes to long time, maybe a minute, for the lamps to turn red for traffic and green for the pedestrian, so many times the pedestrian has already crossed the road when the color change. Another issue is that not all cars cares about the red light and virtually no bikes. If a car stops to let a pedestrian cross as soon as he has passed they run the red light. Also pedestrians cross the road where they are, they do not walk the extra 10 meters to a zebra crossing if they are crossing the road straight over. Same where there is a bridge over the road, they do not walk up the stairs to cross the road to walk down on the other side. Crossing on the road is easier.

This is not related to Zebra crossings but is a little on the same theme. When I drive home I in most cases have to turn right into our Moo Ban, and the road has quite a lot of traffic. many times the traffic on the road is crawling or standing still. Even if the head on coming lane is virtual still and I'm standing still blinking right to turn many of the head on cars don't give space to turn but have to stop blocking the from turning, also some times some is kind enough to stop to let me turn even if the traffic is moving, and so many times when a car or van has stopped a MC is overtaking the car that has stopped to let me turn on the cars left side, and they do not stop to let me turn. Some years ago a bike even drowe in to the rear end of my car and when I stopped to se how the bike driver was he had already taken off on his bike.

What is a "private, unlicenced taxi"?

To me a Private, Unlicensed taxi is the taxi you get, when you order a "Just Grab" or a Bolt etc and the Taxi is not "Colored" Has no Taxi sign on the roof, does not have the license registration number plate painted on the side of the car, They do not have a yellow metal badge inside the car stating License plate number in both and English, and they have a white licence plate in stead of a yellow Taxi one and the there is no sign of the drivers yellow "Taxi driving permit"

"...probably no Taxi Driver license, who knows maybe no license at all".

Huh?   Based on what, but what's that got to do with it?

I have ridden with many of this private "unlicensed taxis" and I have not seen a official Taxi driver license in anyone. You know the yellow one with a picture stating the drivers name. However I spoke to one time that could speak very good english, and after we talked a bit she even told me she didn't even have a Driving License and when I question about it she told me she knew a few other drivers also with out any driving license driving taxis. She say no problem as long as there is no accident, but if she caused an accident her premium insurance would not cover her car only the other one. When I asked her why not get a license she answered, "Why should I? If I ever get stopped the official fee is 200 Baht, and police probably ok with 100 Baht not have to do the paperwork.

Most Thais don't pay tax in Thailand either. The Thai government is not financed by private individuals income tax.

One reason is that so many Thai does not earn enough money to come up to the cap where they start to pay taxes. The cap is 150,000 baht/year after deductions and allowances. Meaning that most people that earn less than 240,000 yearly (20,000 monthly) do not have to pay taxes.

They said to her that they estimate she has earnt more than 1.8mill and should have registered for VAT.

Next thing that might happen is your wife might have to pay WHT for the tenant unless you do that already, or convince the tenant to pay it them self. The correct way is that Land Lord should pay the WHT.
