  1. I agree, on paper I think our squad is perhaps second to non

I'm sorry mate, but if you think that then you obviously either don't watch a lot of football, or you are too easily convinced by the overhype that the English media applies to almost all of our players.

I am an England fan, but i am realistic about what i watch. Will you still hold your same opinions about the team last night if they get turned over in their next game?

Poland are a poor team, whichever way you want to look at it. It is extremely unlikely that they will be challengers in next years world cup. That England team last night would be beaten comfortably by one of the top sides.

    Don't get too carried away.

    Our first 11 on paper:

    Robinson

    G. Neville

    Terry

Woodgate (in my opinion) shame he is never fit. Put who you like there, Ferdinand, Campbell, whoever

    A. Cole

    Beckham

    Lampard

    Gerrard

    J. Cole (I guess)

    Owen

    Rooney

That is Englands team on paper, you find me a better one.

  2. O.K. So we made it to the World Cup. Fantastic, and last nights football was what we have waited to see from England. Now, i'm not going to get on Eriksson's back but, honestly, with a team like we have got, we don't need a manager  :o I could have managed that team last night and got a result. How, by telling them to go out and play like we know they can.......................and not meddle anymore!!

He picked a great Team. Wright-Phillips gave width on the right. Rooney, Lampard, Owen, Young, King, Terry...they all had a great game and had Poland under the cosh from the kick-off. So, what does Sven do.....he substitutes Wright-Phillips for "Crouch" :D Jenas on for Owen (why give the Captaincy to someone your going to substitute? it should have been Terry's anyway) and then Smith for Cole. I was absolutely flabbergasted, we lost all of our shape and left a big hole down the right where Wright should have been and where we had been making a huge impact. It got to the stage where Poland had 2 men marking Shaun, so why take him off?

My question is......Why does Sven have to meddle with the Team so much? I think we now have 5 friendlies before the World Cup. Is Sven going to carry on meddling or is he going to take these 5 games seriously and play the Team we need for next year?

I would agree with just about everything on this post.

side in a game that was only slightly more significant than a friendly
That statement couldn't be any more wrong. As Mr. Bojangles quite rightly pointed out it was to win the group and be seeded for the compititon. Also, the Poles made quite a lot of bold comments before the game, after making such comments I highly doubt they just turned up with no intentions of backing up their claims, that would only be humiliating themselves.
if we play that side in the world cup we will be murdered by the better sides we will face
I would also have to disagree with this statement. I think that side has a lot of potential and is possibly one of the top 5 sides on paper in Germany, certainly in the top 10.
The media are only bigging up the performance because they know they were too heavy handed in their response to the match on Saturday
What? The British media looking for excuses to praise Sven? yeah, right!
I find it hard to believe anyone is genuinely enthused by watching us score a late winner at home, in a game we would expect to win comfortably
I'm starting to think you aren't much of a football fan? i.e. don't really follow a club team? Sunderland is a team we (Newcastle) are expected to beat, however if we were to score a late winner vs. them and for no geordie to be enthusiastic, well, is beyond comprehension, any victory that comes our way I for sure will be happy about.
do, however, honestly think that on "paper" we have a fantasic squad
I agree, on paper I think our squad is perhaps second to non
With the players at our disposal we should be better than we are
Finally, we agree on something :D I think with the players we have, we should be the best in the world
If the crowd booing when he was introduced last night was actually aimed at him, as has been suggested in some quarters, then it is an absolute disgrace
I agree again, for supporters to single out an individual player and 'boo' him is a disgrace, even if he has had a bad game, but to 'boo' him before he has even kicked a ball (particularly when he was one of our better players in our last game) well, is frankly disgusting.

Well, that is about all I have to offer for now.

  3. There has been a lot of negative press recently about how boring (or predictable) the Premiership has become this season and the Chelsea influence on this aparent change.

Personally I think teams have become more adapt at changing their tactics to get the results they require, but I must admit post Ashes it does seem to have lost it's edge a little.

As for the Chelsea influence well what do other members think?

What does the future hold for the Premeiship and what changes would make it more exciting if indeed any are needed?

Well, personally I'm still excited by the premiership. I'm not going to pretend that the title race is still on, Chelsea have already won the league, and a few bookmakers would agree with me as they have already paid out, yes and we're only 7 games into the season.

What still excites me about the premiership is that there is only 12 points seperating 20th and 2nd - 4 wins. only 6 points seperating the top of the bottom half and rock bottom. i.e 11th and 20th - 2 wins. Football is unpredictable, the premiership is unpredictable. Charlton second, Everton bottom, who would have thought that at the start of this season? West ham and Wigain in the top half of the table, whilst Newcastle and Liverpool are in the bottom. All of this adds to the unpreditability of our league, and frankly, this is what makes it exciting.

I think the reason for lower attendances is because of rediculous over pricing for 90 minutes of entertainment. I heard chealsea are charging around 70 quid a ticket in some game, what a <deleted> disgrace.

  4. It's probably going to be your first and last win of the season.

Fact: Newcastle are pants.. What <deleted> fact sheet you looking at?

I have a fact of my own...

Fact: Sunderland have 20 thousand spare seats every home game, I wonder why..

  5. This tour will be a big test for the English side.....the world will see just how far the team has come up in standard. As no English posters have bothered to mention this important tour, I hope that they get behind their team and realize that winning one series doesnt make u a World class team....

Hmm, about 18 months ago we toured over there and demonlished them, then we went down to south-africa and demonlished them, then new zealand came, we demonlished them... the aussies were next, frankly, we demolished them... So even if we were to play the windies again, I'm sure we would be okay...

  6. I know a William Small - of course nickname for William is Di.ck.  It never really caught on until we read the register at school, sir names come first ...Small, Dick

The neville brothers' dad is Neville Neville, that must have been worth a joke or two when he was growing up

    Nickname for William is Dick?

    Never heard of that b4

I know Dick is nick for Richard :o

Strange school that uses nicknames in the register!

    Small Willy, maybe?

    :D

You may actually be right, I can't remember exactly, just knew it was something to that effect.

  8. A local United Way office realised that the organisation had never received a donation from the town's most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute.

"Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give back to the community in some way?"

The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?"

Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbled, "Um ... no."

The lawyer interrupts, "or that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?"

The stricken United Way rep began to stammer out an apology, but was interrupted again.

"or that my sister's husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer's voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?!"

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, said simply, "I had no idea..."

On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again, "So if I don't give any money to them, why the <deleted> should I give any to you?"

  9. But from  i read in TH  forum 80% of them said , Miss TH world look ugly and  look like  Katheoy  ..for me i have  no idea

    A3737423-16.jpg

Angie is compared with Miss Norway (luk krueng also) ..Helen  who just  joined in Miss Universe b4 ...and  seem  Norway will send her to  Miss World peagent contest again

    A3737423-6.jpg

From that picture miss Thailand is bauwk! (I'm sure she is a lovely person though) However, miss Norway looks pretty.

I've never watched any miss .... pageant's, but someone was saying one of the contestants couldn't even speak the country's language she was representing???!

  10. Absolutely wonderful advert for cricket and just English sport in general. Great performances from both teams with some exceptional individual displays, non more so than Kevin Pietersens' knock so ensure we regained the ashes.

Considering that was the first ashes series I've ever seen, well, the others certainly have something to live up to.

    Congratulations England!! :o:D

  11. When you breathe in, does your stomach go in or out?

I had understood that in meditation and spirituality it should go out, but others tell me that in sport it should go in - so that you are breathing in your chest.

With singing, I am pretty sure the stomach goes out (expands) with the in breath.

What about Tai Chi, a normal doctors advice, archery, violin playing etc.....

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say your 'stomach'. When you inspire or expire your stomach does not move.

Inspiration - Contraction of our diaphragm and intercostal muscles increase the thoracic cavity volume resulting in the expansion of our lungs, ultimately alveolar volume

Expiration - During expiration the volume of the thorax decreases as the diaphragm becomes passive decreasing thoracic volume, forcing 'air' from our lungs.

  12. If I was to give any advice Syd, it would be like the others have said and don't give up.

When I was 12 my parents were advised by doctor's to prepare my funeral, 6 years on I'm as healthy as ever and have never looked back. It is not that I done anything out of the ordinary to survive, I just believed it wasn't my time and thankfully it wasn't, I urge you to think the same.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck

  13. U think Chel$ki good? You're wrong! Didnt u see how they played against us?

Correct me if I'm wrong, Chelsea beat Arsenal. Chelsea have won every game they have played (5) not conceding a goal. Arsenal have lost 2 games, have failed to score in 1 game have conceded 4 goals and only scored 7 goals in comparison to Chelsea's 10.

Chelsea have played 5 games with 15 points whereas Arsenal have played 4 games with only 6 points, 9 behind Chelsea already...

Now, I think if you ask that question again (who is better Chelsea or Arsenal) I think the resounding answer is Chelsea, don't you? :o

  14. I don't think they will go down, but they will struggle, certainly in comparison with their achievement last year.

Players like Arteta, Cahill, Van der Meyde and a few others have just a bit too much quality to let their team finish as one of the three worst in the premiership.

I think the problem is now, Everton have brought in some good players with good reputations and the pressure is on them to repeat something which they did last season. Also new players, new system, they have to get used to eachother to bring about some cohesion which Everton had in abundance last season.

Mid table finish for Everton, they will be somewhere between 12th - 10th I think

  15. Well, I'm all surprised* I graduated and the Canadian* grading system would make me 15 for grade 9 but I was 14 when I wrote that. I had not had my birthday yet.

If it's any consolation, what I said was only in jest.

Another question, how old are you when you graduate from high-school (as I believe you's call it)

Oh, and as for Paul Pisces book, I read it all. I don't have much to compare it to in relation of it's genre, except from Private dancer. I'm sure you'd be the first to admit it isn't as good, however, it was worth the read.

  16. Hey everybody!

I've noticed that people usually say "Flying over from Europe or USA" What about Canadians?! Hehe

Here's a poem I wrote in grade 9. I am now freshly graduated. Class of 2004.

In no means am I a decent writer or make any claims to be. The day I write a book will be the day I write a book.

The man had a strong hard stoney looking face; he looked like his face was carved out of stone. Broad strong thick shoulders and a long broad nose. Tan dark hair and ice blue eyes. He walked with deadly grace like he looked casual but about to spring the moment.

A large sword on his back and dark coloured coat and cloak. Dark brown pants and black boots. He had a commanding voice and an aura of power and grace surrounded him.

When I saw him in battle he looked like a possessed man never slowing, like a whirlwind, striking down everything coming in his path.

When I saw him talk to his love, he showed great compassion and love. I never realized this hard man could be poetic, too. It was like watching an ugly moth turn into a beautiful mutterfly in the sense of emotions and presence, his hardness faded.

Flame away. I WAS a juvenille when I wrote that and I still am! Hahaha I figured I'd throw some of my stuff in the oven to take some of the heat off PP.

Wow, I'm surprised you actually graduated :o

Forgive my ignorance of the Canadian grade system, but how old would one be in grade 9?

Edit courtesy of Jesse sharp eye :D

  17. I think in 25-30 years this fad will have long since run its course and the

laser removal parlors will be doing a brisk business.

I agree, I think a lot of people regret some, if not all of their tattoo's. I've never been one to consider branding myself, although I'm not exactly against people doing it. I've never actually seen Angelina Jolie's tattoo's so I couldn't comment on how they look, I think she could pull just about anything off though.

  18. LOL  aren't financial advisors complete strangers? :o

I couldn't think of a more appropriate forum for asking this question.

These people have "been there done that"

and i might add that there is some ###### good advice here.

    Financial advisor's are qualified.

If the OP just wants some opinions, fair enough. However I do find it rather, well, frightening someone could ask a forum of randoms whether or not he should pack in his life and move to a country of complete contrast to that of which he lives in.

I am just bemused someone could ask this question, particuarly in this context.
