  2. I just took photos on smart phone using Microsoft lens pdf scanner, which is free to download. For the photo of myself I just took a selfie against a plain background.

As long as any photos are clear and you can read documents , there shouldn’t be a problem. The key one is the copy of your passport data page, as the system automatically extracts data from this.

was very impressed how easy it all was.

  3. I have applied for my COE and had pre approval from the Thai Embassy in London.

COVID insurance done, trying to book flights, had intended flying out on Oct 14th, the flight I provisionally chosen has been cancelled, but available next day. If I book for the next day 15th does this effect my final approval for COE and insurance (which will expire several weeks after my return to the UK)

  4. Starting to think about a visa application for my wife to visit the UK for around 5-6 months in the early spring (something she has done many times before). We will be travelling around Thailand with friends and family for much of January and then I will be heading back to the UK in early Feb, I want get the visa sorted before I head back to the UK.

I know I can apply up to 90 days in advance for the visa, we plan on submitting the online application in early Jan and then getting an appointment to submit the application in person three weeks later, does anyone know if this is possible or is there a time limit on how long an online application remains valid without an appointment?

  5. My Thai wife already has a UK family visit visa, for a visit to the UK later this month. We are just exploring the options of visiting Paris, i am aware she would need a schengen visa to do this, must she apply for this in Thailand or is it something we could arrange in the UK.

We did not mention this possible trip in her UK visa application, if we went to France without having mentioned it in the recent application would this effect future UK visa applications?

  6. Just crossed at Ban Phu Nam Ron with a multi o non imm visa it was all very easy and immigration were very friendly. Despite being a public holiday no waiting at immigration. Proceeded through immigration paid 10 baht at the counter next door for photocopy of passport they filled in a new arrival departure card fir me. 7. Hi All

A couple of queries, I am here on a first 90 day entry of a multi non-o, based upon marriage to a Thai. It is due to expire in two weeks and I must either cross the boarder and return to activate another 90 days, or can I go to my local immigration office and apply for an additional 60 days, If so what documents do I need to take, I am bit confused? As I understand it currently my wife has to go with me, which is no problem.

Second question does anyone know if my local immigration office at Suphanburi (just a short walk up the road) can do this.

    Many thanks for any help

  8. Due to various UK family members arriving to join us in Thailand, over the next few months and us not being home much over the coming few months, we decided to apply for my wives UK family visit early, aware that you can apply up to 90 days in advance, we were planning on leaving Mar 28th and returning together Sept 21st, something we have done numerous times before, with gaps of odd years.

Aware that we were heading to the UK over Easter (a busy time) I was looking at flights prices and managed to get a really good deal, I know the wise owls on Visa forum will say don't do it, but the price was so good I booked the flights and paid for them, assuming that getting a visa for my wife would be straight forward as on the past occasions.

Made the online application and paid for it in December, submitted the application in person Jan 7th, was amazed when received notification within 24 hours that a decision had been made and the passport was ready for collection, we had planned on this taking 5-7 working days.

As we were travelling we could not pick the passport up till today, not a problem as we told UKVS that this would be the case. The passport contained the hoped for visa, great, but......looking at the dates, the visa started 16th March and finished Sept 16th, I was puzzled and pissed of as to why they did not match our proposed itinerary, after a bit of digging around on the internet it turns out the 90 days starts from when you submit and pay for the application online not when you submit ti in person! something I, and I am sure others were unaware of.

A few phone calls later and for a bit more cash return flight dates amended!!!! Lesson learnt!!!

  9. About to apply for the wifes family visit visa to the UK, not expecting any issues as have done this half a dozen times before. In the past we have never bothered getting documents such as marriage certificate and house ownership documents translated. Will we still get away with this? if not, does anyone know somewhere where we can get this done online without having to go into Bangkok. Tried using the add on Thai visa forum but once form completed the link seems broken

    Many thanks for any help

  10. Hi Keebon

Listen to Ubonjoe he knows his stuff, you will have no problem, like he says there are loads of people in Thailand who stay longer than 180 days per year on a triple entry tourist visa with extensions, then leave the country get another and return within a day or so. If the rules had changed recently Thai visa forum would collapse with the number of posts regarding this and there would be a lot of worried long term tourists in Thailand. You will have no problem.

  11. Recently got a non o multiple entry based on marriage to a Thai from the Embassy in London, it was simple and very quick. Did it by post, sent a completed application form, postal order for fee plus extra 10 pounds to cover return special delivery, copy of Thai wedding certifcate and copy of the wifes passport and ID card. They turned it around within 48 hours and i did not have to show any finances, quick and painless!.

  12. I have just received my passport back from the Thai Embassy in London, complete with multiple entry Non-immigrant O visa based on marriage to a Thai. Just to confrim I did not need to show proof of any income to get this, just a copy of my Thai wedding certificate and copies of wifes Thai ID card and passport all of which were signed by her. The application took just 48 hours to process, cost £135 which included special delivery return, but can only be paid for by cash or postal order.

It appears that the information on the Embassy Website is misleading, i checked before submitting the application, both with the Embassy and a couple of the consulates and was told you only needed to show proof of income if applying for a non-immigrant o visa if you intend to get married in Thailand and apply for a marriage visa.

Hope this clears up a lot of the confusion regarding non immigrant visas based on marriage to a Thai.

  13. Requirements for a non immigrant multiple o based on marriage, seems to be confusing, I am about to apply for one for the fifth year running and llike others only work 6 months of the year, spending six months in Thailand with my wife and family. I have done some ringing around in recent days and seemed to get the same general reply. Hull require proof of income which they must check with London, but if visiting in person, Cardiff, Liverpool and Birmingham say they do not, just marrage certifcate (translated) and a copy of wifes ID Card/passport . Phoned the embassy in London and they said the same, when applying by post all i would need to include with the application would be the wedding certifcate and copy of wifes ID card/Passport, i asked if they were sure and they said yesr , i would not need to show proof of income.

I am about to apply through the post via the Embassy and will keep you posted on the outcome.

I am spend around 6-7 months each year in Thailand in one block, is there a better option than a multiple o visa to do this?

  14. My wife returned with me to the UK last April and we both went through the UK/EU passport line and were processed together. This was my wifes sixth visit to the UK, previously she had passed through immigration after just a few rudimentary questions and even on one occasion by a friendly immigration officer. On her last visit however it was a very different experience, the immigration officer was rude, abrupt and made us both feel like we had done something wrong. She insisted on seeing my wifes return plane ticket and wanted to know were we would be staying, where I work and what my wife would be doing whilst in the UK. After a few minutes we were allowed through, begrudgingly, my wifes passport almost thrown back at. We both kept our cool, smiled a lot and were polite, rather than cause a fuss and make things worse.

You probably won't have any problems, but would suggest have basics to hand such as your wedding certificate.

  15. The wife collected her passport yesterday, and despite feeling pessimistic about her chances of getting a family visit visa due to the frequent and successive rule/guidelines, we were pleasantly surprised to find her application was successful. It may be that the 6 in 12 rule/guidelines were applied and she just sneaked under it by 7 days.

    A few things which may help others when submitting applications;

The application form must be filled in online and paid for online before an appointment can be made

We did not get any documents translated into Thai

We submitted originals for everything at VFS which were returned to us when the application was submitted

We were very tight on the paperwork and kept things to a the essentials

We were honest in the application and kept no secrets

The photos we had taken at the local photo shop were fine, the embassy even returned the submitted photo

The embassy kept a sponsor letter from me, copy of my passport ID page, letter from my employee with accommodation details (as accommodation is included with my job), copy of wedding certificate and copies of my wifes bank books, my bank statements and payslips were returned despite saying on the application that i would pay for everything. All other copies of documents were returned to us with the passport.

You can only book an appointment at regents house, up to five days in advance

You will receive an email from the embassy telling you the application has been processed, but not the outcome. They will tell you that you can collect the passport after two working days from VFS, but if you contact VFS after 11am the next day it will probably be ready for collection within 24 hours

The application took 7 working days to process

VFS seemed to have really improved their services, professional, promptly answering phone and email queries.

Hope the above helps others going through this process, if any one needs any more info feel free to PM me
