  1. By German law, everyone is forced to pay taxes to a "Christian" church, 10pct of your income tax.

If you are a foreigner (eg from Rome) and don't know that, German tax office might even take your house or any usufruct away.

    Absolute BS!

You can leave "the church" anytime you like and you will not pay taxes anymore.

You just have to be pro-active and actually "leave"- that's all!

That old German law is no longer applicable :-)

Sorry to spoil your individual 'i-know-it-better' attidude, but the original poster is right: its comon law in Germany, as well as in Austria, to pay a certain % of your yearly salary to the rom-cath church! However, there's also the possibilty to 'leave the church' when you are pissed with this tax; as i did :-)

By the way: this law/tax was introduced by Adi Hitler (which was an Austrian) to get the kiddy f%^*^ into his boat! Until now (2015!) none of each govs abolished the law/tax!?

Here you can see how influenced the rom-cath church is still in these countries!

Pps: fyi: in Austria even theological studies on the university are free of student fees fir students, although ANY other science department is collecting fees from their stuents! - hiw weird is this?

  3. No, it was me :-) As im residing here for several years, have no crime rec (yet); however, my Thai is not fluent... but im a farang! Im waiting for a classic interview invitation (warrant) soon. The procedure transcript - I promise, jing, jing - I will post on every blog around the region to showcase the outstanding and brilliant police work in Thailand! <irony off>

    Ps: i think thats a wig ;-)

  4. Actually thats very good news considering 'our status' in this country of xenophobic and control freaked administration !

However, as an IT specialist - and knowing about Thais doing IT - i do really doubt we can save the miles walking to the post office to mail our docs, or even appear in person at Cheng Wattana, or any other 'legal' Immigration place in the near future, now!!!

Remember: You are in Thailand, and overall its a super insufficient burocracy which supports' connectivity only'; believing i know what im talking about, at least myself :-)

So what is left about this news: Lets go and check online and we gonna see how stable and real their?! All is in limbo here....

Imo, its still in 'trial mode'.... i gonna do the walk to the thai post office! Luckily i never needed to appear at Cheng Wattana (connections?!), resp gad to travel some-where-nakhon as im living im Bkk :-)

    Hoping for a change....

  5. "90 percent of parents strongly disagreed with the measure. They believed that vending machines would encourage teens to have sex."

Yes, that vending machine is giving me ideas that I never got from my hormones, or pheromones or advertising, or porn, or R rated movies, or the examples of my peers, or parents. . . . or the way girls dress, or . . . we cannot go there can we?

    I must use it.

Sexy vending machines. Almost as sexy as farang men.

Just another attempt from the Thai Ultra-conservative branch to keep the youth under their control. Backwarded control freaks!

  6. I get approached about once a year either in Thailand or Manila by some foreigner with the same kind of story, but without the elephant-man leg. They don't need money. They need somebody to tell them to use their return ticket and get home before they totally implode. This guy was a particular chunk of nasty for using the physical deformity to take advantage of the Thai concept of merit to finance his binges. How do you say, "Loser" in German, anyway?

'Loser' is called 'Verlierer' in German, fyi :-)

  7. Thailand cannot build anything by themselves as they lack expertise in almost every field; except corruption! So who will be proud to pay 30-40% mark up on the construction costs?! Dnt talk maintenence yet.... Its all populism and the project will be just a 'headliner as all government topics. No way this will ever be completed..... Or maybe in 2080, so we all will not enjoy the dear's leader's happiness; what a pity

China for one will throw money at this project, and supply the workers. Thailand has done a good job of building there roads on concrete legs and have you seen the Sky train , all Thailand's efforts, don't knock them , They have the expertise.

Yes, you are right... With help of outside know-how. Just see the current airport link issue.... i doubt they can maintain such a complex project, neither run it! The skytrain is nothing in comparison to this! Have you ever been in Colon/Panama or Suez/Egypt?!

Thats far to much of a job for a country as Thailand, sorry to say!

  8. If this project comes to live then 'Ratisavat prathet thai'!

Just recall the Panama / Suez history and you will never would like to live this nightmare.... or just check on the latest megalomaniac project->

Question: Who is profiting from it?
