I dont know whos side to be on......................and im Thai!!
-
I've not heard of any pedestrians being injured by a speeding motorcyclist on the sidewalk.
On the other hand, I've heard of fatalities caused by speeding and reckless motorists, van drivers etc etc.
Anyone else think that the traffic police have their priorities wrong?
No they don't.
If you look at the road death stats you will see that consistently over 70% involve motorbikes.
Please provide a link for your source! Also i wonder even if 70% IS the official number - how many are motorcyclists hit by idiot car drivers who've never taken a test!!

A month of things getting better, a month of people getting slapped so they will think again and a month of cops getting used to coming down on biker violations .... seems like a good thing.
If they cant find motorbikes on their pavements they can always blame some Burmese migrants and plant their DNA on the pavement.....seems like a good thing!! As long as the Police get to pocket the fines!!!!!!!
-
Arrests or fines? Big difference.
In these circumstances it's one and the same, stopped and then fined, no big difference.
Rubbish read your ENGLISH dictionary - theres a big difference!!
-
I would love to know what infractions they are getting nabbed for. I assume it is only things that can be caught by a cop at a roadblock or at a corner of an intersection. All the dangerous stuff is consequence free, unless there's a crash.
"I assume it is only things that..."
Just replace "assume" with "speculate" to get your justification for police bashing.
Father in law a policeman is he?
-
For arrested we probably should read fined. But what after this next crackdown ends? Same old story again?
For "arrested" we should read "arrested" as it simply means stopped, then they would be fined.
No it doesnt - arrested means charged formally with an offence and cautioned about the actual law which has been broken NOT stealing tea money and pocketing it!

Call an election any time you like and she will walk it, which is why they won't until they have rigged the deck. There is no way I would like her back in power, but it should about what the majority want, not just me.
Try providing viable political alternatives if you don't like them instead of just seizing power in a sulk.
Of course shell walk in - therell still be lots of unemployed Isan people wanting to sit on the wooden decks of their houses and drink the cheap whisky that Thaksin paltry election bribes will bring them and thats what Thailand is all about!!

trust the reds to come out in favour of an amnesty, considering they were the ones that did all the killings and and blowing up of various areas its not surprising. No amnesty for anyone that broke the law fullstop, the only way to get over all this crap is to make sure those that committed offences go to jail otherwise they will simply keep doing it.
you have forgotten that the courts determined that the military killed people in the temple, have you? You have forgotten that yellow shirts have killed and bombed, haven't you.
There was enough violence to go around and it was far from one side.
No one is going to enforce justice against yellow shirts or the army.
Of course if the 'PM' declares an amnesty, I'll be one of the most surprised. He is interested in suppression, not reconciliation.
Hard to forget when theres no evidence in the first place - only red shirts kill and bomb!!

This is an absolutely understandable cry for help back home from two young boys in a foreign country facing life imprisonment, or worse.
We cannot obviously be judge or jury.
We can only allow intuition and empathy to guide our feelings, and the way the case has already been handled, probably most of us on this forum, plus countless millions around the world, already feel that their guilt is in doubt.
If they are found not guilty, the credibility of the authorities, and the 'convincing evidence' will be in tatters. Worse, the murderer(s) will still be at large.
If they are found guilty, and if the evidence is not absolutely irrefutable, the world and the media will react accordingly. In this case, their letter sent to Aung San Suu Kyi will add considerable emotion to this.
In either scenario, Thailand's already battered image will be at stake.
Whatever, let us all hope that for the sake of the accused, and the bereaved families involved in this tragedy, that transparency, honesty, and absolute justice will prevail.
YES!!!!!!!!!!! and those are the reasons why the contrived evidence will be railroaded through and the British will not challenge it - THEN after theyve been given the death sentance - it will be repealed and Thailand and the Police will come out looking like lenient models of virtue

I don't blame the defendants for trying to wring sympathy out of people wherever they can. However, there really is nothing ASSK can do. This is just media hype.
Sadly their lawyer is leading them down the wrong path in trying to try the case in the public. He should be focused on explaining how his clients semen got into the victim. If this has ever been addressed or denied I have not heard it. All I hear is them asking for help from people who cannot help them ... that is what their lawyer is for.
we all know that....................the police put it there.................thats rape anyway - NOT murder - your AC bar friends did that - stop making false accusations please - leave that to RTP!!!!!!!!!

There is a lot of cognitive dissonance evident in the posts of this thread. Those who believe (like myself) that the RTP is framing the Burmese kids find it very difficult to accept that the families are satisfied ,so far, with the work of the RTP. However, the endorsement (of the FO drafted statement) by the families states that quite clearly. On the other side, those who were previously convinced of the B2's guilt are presenting the statement as irrefutable endorsement of their views and clear proof that the B2 are guilty. The statement neither states, nor even implies, any such thing, though it certainly does suggest there is quite enough evidence (given trust of the RTP) for an indictment.
More importantly it asks for an end to the constant conspiracy theory speculation
......................and complete acceptance of the word of a corrupt police force and a murderous mafia family!!! Hang your head in shame JD!
If that is indeed what the family from the murdered victims ask, which I doubt was actually the purpose of their statement, so it eases their grieves, then it should respected don't you think so?
no..............dont try the sname game..............it doesnt change the unanswered questions and the corruption behind this case and the covering up of murderers

IMO the biggest conspiracy theorists are the ones buying whatever BS the RTP serves up!!
From day one, you and your groupies here have locked yourselves onto the holy truth as presented by the police. No arguments have been able to move your just a millimeter from your original views.
That in my book is a true conspiracy theorist!!
At least we, on the other side of the fence, try to have an open mind and be flexible!!
Again I point you to the words from the families.
and again we point out that there are too many unanswered questions to accept the familys who are suffering their bereavement as the truth in this case.

With all respect to the grieving parents:
- Did someone (with some appropriate authority) put all the evidence in front of the parents to read and then ask the parents for a comment?
- Do the parents know how to evaluate the evidence and know how it might be challenged in legal terms, and then come up with a word like 'convincing'?
What is clear is they have A LOT more information and insight into the evidence than any of us as do the UK police who briefed them on the case and the family clearly has a MUCH MUCH MUCH greater interest in seeing this case concluded with the right people responsible standing trial and they believe there is ample evidence indicating these are the right guys.
Good and truthful comment up until .......and they believe there is ample evidence indicating these are the right guys.............what gives you the right to come out with a comment like that...................how the hell do you know what they believe
The statement from the parents clearly indicates they believe there is ample evidence for these guys to stand trial ... you might try actually reading and repeating a full sentence instead of quoting a partial one out of context. Maybe I should do that too and just stop at the fact you say my post was a "Good and truthful comment"
Really!!! Youre capable of doing that?
-
Its very clear that the families have rightly or wrongly received "compensation" and are happy with that!!
The Thai police have made their cover up for the "poo chai" stick and the British are not going to rattle cages - but lets be clear this is not belief it is acceptance!!
How the <deleted> is it clear that the families have taken compensation? Wow you guys just amaze me. You know every bloody thing.
Where as you know nothing except to bark like a dog at people passing
And what do you know that I don't? Better yet, what do you think you know?
I know that a LOT of questions have not been answered and i KNOW that I know Thailand better than YOU will ever know it!!

The two Brits were murdered by Thais connected with the mafia on the island and the whole thing is contrived plain and simple. If it is true that the parents quote is correct it is because the are naive and have been presented with the British police's Thai contrived account of which they are at it yet again. The boy's background and height show no violent history and it is well known that migrant workers are scape goats for the Thai police who pin crimes on them. The evidence is not transparent for what possible reason? They continue to to be making it and want to make sure it sticks when they present it in court. You can build a strong case against anyone if your making it all up.
Proof that no matter what is said or done, the conspiracy theorists will never be satisfied.
Proof that no one will believe the contrived evidence from as corrupt a police force as there is anywhere in the world. proof that thankfully some people remember the trail of lies that have led us to the sad state were at now. I believe the familys are resigned to NEVER getting justice - mafia apologists on this site should be ashamed of themselves!!
-
I know what you mean, and it is mostly accurate. However, if the court of public opinion is not also mostly convinced, this can have negative consequences going forward.Umm in response to this
"That of course being said, the prosecution have several issues they need to convince the public of.
"
No.
The prosecution only needs to convince the judges.
The court of public opinion should be of no consequence to the court. The law and the facts of the case are all that should matter.
Most of the points raised above have nothing to do with the investigation and only deal with the conspiracy theories. If the prosecution can prove that the 2 Burmese men accused of being the killers are indeed guilty of murder, then all the other crap is moot.
This case hasnt been about FACTS since the mafia destroyed the crime scene!! This case has NOTHING to do with facts!!

Grandstand Quarter Backs are alive and well on TV.
Last week you were patting yourselves on the back about keeping this alive to make sure the world was aware of the great injustice and thankful to the social media for making it happen. Now however, it seems maybe the world will be aware of all the insightful people on TV that have the uncanny ability to read between the lines and draw what in their minds are the actual facts. Maybe this will bring home the message that without adequate, if any at all, training on crime detection that traps should be kept shut. I will admit that I do not have a lot of trust in the integrity of the RTP but just because they lack integrity does not automatically mean they lack ability.
Now today, I see that many of you even know what the parents are thinking. Shame on you, don't you know when to shut it.
Are the boys guilty as charged? I don't know and neither do you so maybe it's best to just put a sock in it and let the trial take it's course to a conclusion whatever that may be.
Not YOUR JOB to tell people when to "SHUT IT" this is a VISA people have a right to express opinions - if you dont like it go and finish reading the Sun!!

Im a woman and i have to ask - If a man is suffering from depression after loosing his job is it ok for him to go out and kill someone? After all "depression" is a crippling mental illness. If this woman is capable of this she SHOULD be locked up!!
