Ummm, no I don't think so ?  Funny comment from the Thai Customs official  I spoke with on phone.  His English was very broken, and when I was trying to plead my case for my other stuff to be sent to me, he said something like, "Well you can come and discuss with Custom "police" but then they might arrest you"  He said it in a sort of humorous way, but I could see something like that actually happening, ya know?  Better to let it go, and just call it a learning experience to not do something so stupid in the future.

fair enough, but sadly i dont believe the destruction story at all unless the shipment was comprised of overripe cheese or something equally unappealing or unsaleable.

In fact, You're right! They called me back and said the entire consignment is being destroyed!  Yeah, right; Some Customs official is having Christmas early. That s*cks!  If you get something confiscated in the airport, they don't take your luggage!  Oh well. live and learn, I guess.

tell them you want to witness the destruction .

You ever traveled round a few countries with  a Thai? I have, and one of the most important daily tasks was working out where the next Thai-compatible food was coming from. Same same but different. IMO Thais are even worse than the Brits in needing there own food. Brits eat rice. Try getting Thais to live off potatoes for a few days!

maybe your mate, but certainly not one i have chosen to spend time travelling with.

and i wouldnt live off potatoes for a few days either. why would i?

seems to me daniel cheddar gets the dinosaurs typing, certainly hit the mark with this last topic.

    Am I...?

This forum has many nationalities where some may struggle a bit with English, most of us get around that stuff but you want Mods to sort out members English....665212406_shakehead.gif.089607d6ca2ca4267c1afeae6c97c6db.gif

now you are just being contrary, its common for mods to fix errors in the op - especially in the title if requested by a user.

    have a nice day trans.

I will try to use proper Google Translate as English is not my native language. I did not know that i must posses +600 TOEFL just to ask for "mockery" here based on "financial" or "grammar". Last time i checked, the forum is still called thaivisa.com not englishvisa.com or britainvisa.com. My english should be averaged for Thais or someone else to understand (at least).

Yes, i was clueless about purchasing car in Thailand. You got that right. I see no option to re-edit my original post, thus i am still unable to correct the grammar.

I apologize for my lack of English grammar or ...ehm, whatever the english mistake i wrote there.

    Have a good day.

Not about grammar, its about clarity. If you want the post reworded ask a moderator.

The subject of this thread is "recommend" me, not "mock" me.

Just to clarify few points because OBVIOUSLY some members just wanted to mock and not even bother reading past the 3rd sentence:

    0. I knew i should have put ";". Do i get; a new car or second hand car? Someone has stated how second hand cars market is pretty rigged. So there's my answer.

    1. 250-400K, never once i said this is for NEW CAR. I've specifically wrote about installment on the 4th paragraph or 5th paragraph BUT some of members decided to be such child and stop reading on the first 10sec upon arrival on this thread.

    2. Yes, i used Google, www.one2car.com, and personally checked each manufacture websites. I got their prices noted down. However, NONE of the websites mentioned anything about fuel consumption and/or the length it takes to finish off the registration book to reach my hand. (Yes, that's why i asked here AND again, nobody read until such point). I am confident that i posted this thread on the right section, am i?

    3. I really appreciated for mature answers from other members too. I realize not everyone has the answer for all questions that were asked. Sometime it is easier to mock somebody based on the first 2-3 lines rather than answering such difficult questions.

    4. Note the "????" after i wrote Pajero & Fortuner. That should briefly explains my "sarcasm". I did read the brand of MG which offers similar model as those expensive SUV, but at half the price. However, i have no idea what company that is and how reliable their cars are. My best bet was made-in-China cars.

    5. For a second there, i thought i was at gaming forum. Some replies were identical to those at gaming forums. I cant even comprehend how anyone could immediately assume such budget for a new car. At least someone got the word "tuk tuk" there.

Your origiinal post was unclear and rambling, dont get shirty.

Even multiple readings give the impression 400k was your budget, even with the remark about installments.

Perhaps next time you request adice you should be clear and folks will answer accordingly.

I couldnt comprehend how you could sound so clueless either, but you managed it.

Sure she made an error without realizing the consequences but you would think that a sales advisor would have the product knowledge to explain the dangers involved and offer guidance  but that was not the case .  The tint film was discussed between the two of them and was a joint decision .

Why do you think that in the UK any tint over 20 is banned and your vehicle can be seized . Are you beginning to understand ?  Despite the fact that there are zero guidelines in Thailand for windscreen tint does not mean it is safe to use a grade 60 or even 40 .

why do people insist on comparing experiences to the UK and germany etc.

there is no limitation on tint in thailand. your wife SPECIFICALLY ordered the tint, which is common and popular locally and was advised by a local.

i dont see what there is to understand. you got what you ordered.

I agree.  By the way, I have never had a credit card. I have always had an ATM card since my teenager days, and anyway, that is what I have mostly used to get cash on my trips to Thailand. And, yes, I also usually take a minimum of around 1,000 dollars with me on the flight to Thailand.

And, one piece of advice Put the money in your wallet, and put your wallet right inside your underwear; on a front side, with most of the wallet firmly on the inside part of the underwear. You will always feel the wallet being in there unless the underwear is very loose-fiitting or also unless you get drunk ! Hey, don't get drunk when you have lots of cash on you; hehe.

    No.

    just no.

  11. if netflix is all you really need xiaomi mibox 3, on lazada sub 3k.

as someone here has also pointed out, it is netflix hd certified.

you can also sideload terrarium, though that has been a disaster for me lately.

stay away from the chinese crap, its unnecessary.

just bought another one on lazada sunday. delivered today.

No one has had Google Maps suggest a shorter route only to have it backfire in some way?

There are some incredibly steep and narrow roads in the mountains of  Loei. You don't know how steep it will get until you are fully committed and then it's too late. No spots wide enough to attempt a turn around, impossible to back down with a normally loaded truck without overheating brakes or losing control of vehicle.

You city boys should give it a try sometime. Bring a change of

    underwear.

and how should the gps know you have overloaded the car to the point if its being dangerous
