hi'
you might also take time to look around the country, not only
in big towns like bangkok or chiang mai, khon kaen could be a choice, as some others lke udonthani ...
anyway, follow the advices given to you, look at these sites,
but don't build a dream out of your prospect, life here might be a little different when you will be living here, for sure your life is going to change compare to what you have been tasting
from this country that make you come back and stay longer.
we all enjoy to live here, even with some kind of problems we have to deal with(visa, papers etc ..), but, definitly, as I guess
we all do prefer to be rather than in europe or america ::
anyway, good luck in your propect and future coming here...

yeah, you are right !
that's all what we were missing out there ...
always better to get a straight information which is from
sure source, better than a lawyer that takes your money for nothing ...
oh yeah, thanks ::

re ...
just one more question,
in the case we go to city hall to sign marriage papers,
do I have to have this 200,000 baths in bank to apply to any visa or permit ?
or as married here and living here they won't ask me that ?
thanks for help

hi'
thanks george
this might be the real good idea, and in any case for us it's a safer way too, I'm thinking about a travel to france, my wife could obtain a visa a lot easier this way.
this is looking like a good solution ...
I'll give you a report after talking with my wife about all this.
thanks again <!--emo&::--><!--endemo-->

hi'
here is a real problem ... married or almost officialy
we have a little girl, and we would like to setup something
for a living as many of us,I guess.
we have tried to go on in a regular way, but it always end at the same point, I need a work permit, or I have to chose to hire someone and then be there in the background ...
we are living in Chiang Mai, for a few years already.
and we would prefer to stay here rather than to go back, to
my place... I do prefer the life's rythmn here better than in europe ... no comment.
the problem is, how to get a work permit when the law is so tight ?
we, my wife and I, would like to have just a shop-house, where
I can offer computer's services, and beside this my wife wants to have a laudry place, simple and does not require a lot of
investment, BUT ... in order to get a valid year visa and work permit, it's all another story
if someone has an idea about this, this will be very welcome

hi'
I do agree whith what was said, keep your money and enjoy the life here, half a million is far to be enough to "begin" to think about mounting any kind of business ...
and teaching ... well, if a 8,000 baths/month fits you, go on <!--emo&--><!--endemo-->'><!--endemo-->
seriously, I'm not english native, but like you,my english is fluent, as my thai begins to be, I'm leaving here for a few years already, and never found any "good" opportunity to build anything around that won't go back to thai people ...
I'm in between staying here and going back to my "old" place,
because of visa's hassling, problem for working and so on ...
anyway, don't give up on anything you have in your own place.
but, anyway, good luck <!--emo&--><!--endemo-->'><!--endemo-->

hi'
getting people together is not an easy thing to do, and we are all living in different corner of the country, so first I do think we should agree on a place that is "comfortable" for any of us,
and also wait taht we are enough to move for a meeting.
I know that in some places, like pattaya or samui, there are some expat-club, just join the forum, and lets' get together,
we do have to be a lot ... no ?
you see, I live in Chaing Mai, I do not have any french friend
in town ... I don't even know how many of us are living around here ... isn't it a pity ?
so, to you all, let's get together and share some good time and some of knowledge of this country we are living in
