Exactly.  I'd expect that all they will do is reiterate what they, the UK embassy, and other embassies that are ending 'income verification' have published online.  You'll just be able to vent in front of a human who will offer their apologies and shrugs.

Leaders who don't drive on the roads but are chauffeured in kilometer long caravans which block traffic so they are unimpeded obviously should know best!

And as such they completely ignore those of us who served our country faithfully during the limited periods of time that the US was not at war.  Ask the US government the status of US vets who served between the Vietnam War and the First Gulf War.  "Thank you for your service! Now go away."  Other than that?  We're not even considered to be 'real' veterans.  More like Cold War vets who aren't 'really' vets.  I'll bet you Russia treats their Cold War vets with more respect.

A 'central barrier' like pictured by the OP  will cause a few tens of thousand more injures and multiple thousand deaths as the average aggressive Thai will not give way and would prefer to split their vehicle in two and kill everyone aboard rather than yield and millimeter to allow another car to merge safely.
Now this measure would help, but TIT.  I've come to the conclusion that Thai leaders actually want to cull their citizens through horrendous accidents.  The big-wigs don't drive themselves and are transported in multi-vehicle caravans with cops blocking the roads 5 kilometers in advance of a VIP motorcade - so why would they care?

There will no doubt come a time when the Headline:

Given the reaction to the edict, it seems that corruption is far more pervasive that even the most conservative estimates. 

If they don't allow foreign observers  then they will draw universal condemnation from the exact country they seek at appease.

Regardless of his official titles, he's the poster boy for Thailand police department.  He gets credit for everything that his underling accomplish down to the smallest bust.

Thailand has all sorts of laws on the books. Take a look at traffic laws.  The laws mean nothing. Why?

Actually, when the cop need to make money, it will become selective enforcement.  Everything else is a bad joke.

To solve a problem, you first have to face the problem.  When a termite infested tree finally is so weak that it blows over in the wind, the wind was not the cause of the tree's structural failure. But the UK authorities will blame the wind every time.
