Good luck to Him. He is the Abe Lincoln of Thailand.
....or Pol Pot. Time will tell.
'The constitution was replaced after 2006 with one intended to curb Thaksin's electoral influence.
"This time, the constitutional changes will be more thorough," Thai politics analyst Paul Chambers said.
He said measures could include "electoral gerrymandering, even more power granted to the judiciary, and finally -- and most ominously -- more power granted to the army." Centnews.com 24.05.14
Got to be one smart constitution next time to curb Mr T?
Maybe there is a lot going on that one is not allowed to discuss?
Thailand is changing but some are trying to hold onto a past.
There will soon be way less of those 15 principles the yellows keep throwing around, but they'll be happy if they win a gerry mandered election because they can then say they won a free and fair election (assuming there will ever be an election in the next 10 or 20 years). They yellows only cry unfair if they don't win ... I'm not seeing much democracy yet, and I'm seeing a very strong dictatorial play going down ... this guy isn't planning on listening to the people anytime soon.
I'm still waiting to hear about the thing we can't talk about. The rumours are going crazy up near me.

Really, nobody cares anymore who was right or wrong (except some who have nothing else to talk about) ... that time has passed ... There's now a military junta in charge of the country that the rest of the world sees as having deposed a democratically elected govt ... whether the Thais care or don't care what the world thinks, the world still cares about its own money, and Thailand will be getting a whole lot less of it because of this ... can you say unemployment, inflation, business bankruptcy, no tourists, no foreign investment, spiralling foreign debt. This might have happened before but the world communicates much better now ... if you think this isn't going to hurt Thailand much harder than ever before you really need to wake up .... Even Myanmar is rating higher as a tourist destination and site for foreign investment ... well done Thailand ... Your sandpit squabble has hurt the whole country

Hey I see things a little differently .... the Army essentially takes control of all the media and suddenly the media is writing that all sides are cheering on the general and all sides are bowing down and becoming agreeable. If course it could be true, but get real, this is thailand ...
So before everyone says what a great job he's doing, if it's too good to be true, it usually isn't ... and only a fool would believe everything a controlled media reports!

From what I've been reading today, the international committee chair doesn't care of she's sorry or not ... if she had made such comments in her past then she is ineligible to participate, and she knew this before she joined ... she's admitted she's said these things so she will very shortly be officially disqualified and The runner up will be crowned in her place ... kind of fitting really.

If so kick her out.. but how do you know the rules are the same.
She did violate the rulesEveryone has a right to voice to their own opinion and unless it violates any rules set out by the paegent I do not see why the appropriateness of her comments need to be dragged out and debated. I personally do not see people who "sit on the fence" and lack opinion of what they feel is right or wrong as being beautiful or intelligent so lets respect her opinion as a person and move on even if we disagree.
She won because of her beauty not for being politically correct.

But I am still not sure she really said this khoasod is a red propaganda machine, but it could be true.. and in that case she is stupid and should be kicked out. But its hard to believe that anyone would want to execute all red shirts. That is more then a bit extreme.
The competition is franchised internationally and the rules are extremely strict. Yahoo News (=lol) and CNN cable are also reporting the story.

Charlerm doesn't need to do anything, just give the owners of the international pageant time to find out she has ...Since she spoke out against the Reds she is automatically an enemy of them and supporter of the PDRC. Which means
Chalerm will do all he can to take her title and freeze here accounts and possibly make criminal charges against her. Since the PTP doesnt believe in freedom of speech or freedom of choice in politics then we can expect coffin burnings with used bloody tampons in front of her house along with the late night grenade throwing party. And since she is pro king and not pro PTP Thak she may be banned from the North

1. Expressed a strong one sided political statement
2. Promoted violence
... both of these are grounds for instant disqualification from the international competition. She clearly isn't as smart as many here like to think because she hasn't even taken the time to read the rules ... you know how yellows like to hold others to the rules. She's pretty much finished already and she knows it .. thats why she's spouting off while she still had some media. I used to be involved in the Australian competition and we had to get the girls to sign a statement saying they understood these particular (and other) rules before they were even allowed to be photographed for the series. It's extremely strict.
That said #2 was a far better choice anyway

Discussions on the international Miss Universe forum show that about a dozen protests against her have already been lodged and shes been described as everything from a racist to a whore ... its over for her. People might also be interested to hear that Thailand is getting some very negative comments generally because of het comments ... the land of burmese slaves, cheap wives, violent people, thieves, corruption etc are being thrown around ... thankyou for that miss yellow thailand.

In a civilised country they would have been arrested - not shot!
If this had happened in any "civilised" country, the police would have attempted to detain the offenders or if they resist then they would have been shot .... this shows me exactly how the PCAD thugs are abusing the extreme restraint the police are showing.another really bright red shirt..seriously what did he expect...
Here's the PDRC ram-raiding the police and army lines at the Electoral Commission yesterday, (courtesy of Sanook.com).
Amazing that the military just does nothing about this.
Peaceful protestors do NOT attempt to drive over policemen ... these protestors keep saying they are peaceful ... I do not think that word means what they think it means ... I think the word they are looking for is violent.

Yes, but as I said, if they resisted arrest, fought back or continued, at some point the police would be entitled to use force.

As for the "cooking show" incident, you obviously have been spoonfed the usual red propaganda. He was in trouble for LYING ABOUT BEING PAID ... simple as that. You cant conceal assets or paid positions whilst PM or indeed any other MP. He knew the law and he chose to break it and paid the price. As should any and all who break the law. Including Suthep.
You make it sound like he deliberately tried to hide something vile and villianous ... this is what I take exception to! Anyone in their right mind, knowing how spiteful, vengeful and biased the yellow Court system is would have denied being paid such a trivial amount of they had aftet the fact realised that it might be misconstrued ... which history had shown was EXACTLY the case.
You need to be realistic ... he would have been hung out to dry at any opportunity the yellows could find ... and was. Impeachment was a completely inappropriate punishment for the crime ... and in any other unbiased and reasonable country he would have got a bit of humiliation in the press, paid back the money and that'd be the end of the problem .... but not in the yellow courts of Thailand .... if they had been allowed to execute him for lying they would equally have jumped at the chance to do that.
Punishments should fit the crime ... so I'll repeat, being kicked out for being paid a meager amount for appearing on a cooking show is indicative of the EXTREME level of bias in the yellow courts ... they could have been far more reasonable ... but they chose to go as far as they could.
The issue then comes that they don't throw the book at their own colours for worse offences. Herein less the problem with allowing the yellows to control the reforms in this country ... Such reforms have a history of electoral, judicial and political bias ... I would prefer to see
- A FULLY elected senate.
- complete judicial overhaul in which rulings are validated for lack of bias and if it exists then out they go.
- military leaders selected based on service to the country, experience and a history of zero political involvement.
- a complete overhaul of the Electoral system returning to a basic one person one vote equality with District reps and regional senators.
- a review of all past Court decisions in political cases and have the case reheard if evidence of bias can be shown. This is essential for fairness and to remove intimidation from those wanting to participate in politics ... ie; get some better quality people into politics
- a validation of populist policies ... the concept of making popular policies automatically appear evil goes towards making it very difficult to appeal to the desires of the people ... politicians MUST have the freedom to present their ideas for running the country (be they good or bad in hindsight) and the people them having the freedom to give our deny such a mandate ... this is the point of democracy. If an opposition politician can't convince the majority it's a bad policy then thats just too bad.
Hell I could go on forever, but while you persecute a person to such extremes for such a simple problem, there can never be a fair democracy ... and seeing your determination for making it seem so much more evil than it really is DOES show your priories clearly ... you like a yellow biased, corrupt Court. But hey if you support the yellows, then abuse and bias is the ONLY way they can have any power because they simply don't have the numbers to get power fairly .... As history had shown repeatedly
Peace

Arrest Suthep, put him on trial and if he is convicted indeed a new hero will have been created. That hero is one who will be and currently is in Thailand as opposed to residing abroad.
I had this conversation with friends the other day (most of them yellow as it happens) and while it was a heated discussion we all agreed on one thing. If Suthep is arrested and put on trial he will likely be aquitted because the courts are biased. They all accept and recognise this .... they just dont like to admit it.
They did seem to think that when Suthep is gone, the protest movement will lose its credibility and elections will occur and things will go back to normal.
What we all believe is that as soon as elections are held and a red majority is restored it will be clear that Suthep did not have the mandate of the people ... a few weeks of discussing that across the country and his credibility will be completely lost ... he won't be a hero in the long term, just an embarrassment. Most yellows consider him an embarrassment already, but whilst he is trying to hurt the reds, the yellows tolerate him
It's really very sad for everyone concerned, both red and yellow, that this idiot got any following in the first place ... all he has done is polarise a country even further at a time that it really needs to come together.

"PDRC to pursue acting PM and 11 ministers to force them to resign"
Suthep "Bully" Thug Suban
I don't see anything democratic in bullying.
Please what the Japanese write about this situation.
"Antidemocratic elements — and there is no other word for them — in Thai society refuse to tolerate a government that they do not control, the sentiments of the majority of the Thai people be damned.
This is the third time that judges have removed a prime minister they did not like and this indifference to the popular will is hardening sentiment in Thailand and pushing the country closer to civil war."
Said many times in the last few weeks...the above is what the whole world sees. Why cant the deluded anti democratic whack jobs supporters on Thai Visa see it
Or perhaps people should consider just WHY judges remove people that continually break the law . . . but then that ruins the fantasy that Thaksin is whiter than white and only has "the good of the people" at heart.
Because of a cooking show ?? I mean really ??
Did he break the law or not? The simple answer is yes . . . and he got kicked out for doing it . . . same with every other Thaksin affiliated party . . . they simply cannot follow/abide by the law . . . if the laws are stupid, change them, that's what reforms are all about you know.
Suthep destroys and election and goes against a royal declaration but thats ok .... Going on a cooking show isn't? Man your priories are completely screwed up

No body touching because this time I will be lenient? Do When he is not lenient it's an admission that violence from his team is the norm? Clearest indication yet of this sadists intentions.
It's made because he actually intends to use the threat of violence to secure resignation letters. Do this willingly under the duress of intimidation because next time we won't be so lenient. Unfortunately the idiot doesn't realise that this statement actually makes any resignation letter unlawful and useless .... the very next day, when the thugs have left, the person can recant their resignation saying it was made under the threat of violence and as such is not lawful.
Sutheps stupidity and desire for violence in the future are VERY obvious

Free and fair Thai style:
Thaksin: "I want free and fair, here's 1000 bhat, go vote for me"
Suthep: "I want free and fair, but if you try and vote we'll stop you."
Abbisit: "I want free and fair, so im not going to play with you unless I can win."
Thai leadership at its best .... just hold an election already and let's see if we can't find a new child to ruin the country

Surely the best way to get a prime minister & cabinet with full authority would be to have an election or am I missing something?
Surely "full authority" must include the mandate of the people?
You are totally right but the farangs who post on this thread are obsessively anti-democratic. They are similar to the people who in February and March 1933 argued that now the time called for emergency measures and the suspension of democratic rights and rules of governance - we all know the result of that was Hitler usurping power and heaping misery on Germany and the world for the subsequent 12 years.
The TV farangs have learnt no lessons from history. They are hopelessly shaped by a "neo-colonialist" outlook where they basically see Thais as second-class citizens and themselves as vastly superior. That is why expat farangs hate Thai democracy - nothing is more repellant to them than to see Thais run their own country. They would much rather see the country run by a small elite and the vast majority of Thais told to stay "in their place". In the mindset of the TV farang who continually posts here in defense of Suthep and his gang of fascist thugs the destruction of Thai democracy would benefit his selfish expat existence more than if Thailand as a whole becomes more equal and fair.
Steady on there. I'm farang and totally 100% pro democratic election. I take great exception to everything you say. Clearly you are somewhat upset, but please try not to lump everyone into your single minded generalisations ... please.

Surely "full authority" must include the mandate of the people?
Yes you are missing something, 2 words.
FREE and FAIR.
I really think this free and fair thing is being used incorrectly. I doubt greatly that any amount of reform, legislation, police cooperation, or the like will make it any easier for elect-hopeful politicians to give speeches in areas that are clearly of an opposite political persuasion .... that is a very unrealistic expectation for Thailand at this time, and quite frankly the last 6 months of protests trying to force people has made things even more polarised.
Thai people are not good at compromise. They have an opinion and then that's it ... no discussion, no thinking. As is fairly clear here in TVF its like a disease and is spreading to us farangs. You can write all the rules you like about being nice to each other but people will continue to insult, demean, and criticise anything that doesn't fit their agenda. So those here are proud in itself that the alleged "free and fair" election reforms will simply be ignored and the people will continue to hate those that don't match their beliefs ... its the Thai way ... accept it and move on already.
Fair will only come when politicians treat each othet with respect. When they show leadership, care for the country and each other. When they accept the validity of each others opinions and beliefs. And mostly when the people of the country see them doing this.
For example, if you think it's unrealistic for a red shirt to walk past a PDRC protest and have a polite conversation about the path forward without getting beaten to within an inch of his life then you are being equally unrealistic when you believe that Thailand is politically mature enough for the sort of free and fair being thrown around here.
At this point in Thailands political maturity, free and fair will only go as far as everyone being able to go to vote and without fear of reprisal from some thug outside.
It will take change in the politicians behaviours, not in their laws, that will see things move forward. Mind you, a freer press would help in this matter. While thai politicians and figure heads are spotting off somewhat intimidating rhetoric, the people will copy. Politicians need to show each other politeness and respect if they wish it from the people .... not fake double talk.
Until then ... the only way for the country to function is by holding elections with proper security ... and harsh penalty for those trying to prevent people from exercising a voice.

Suthep continually claims to have the support of the people but continually refuses to go to the polls. How do you square that circle?
See my previous post please. The Dems won the 2007 election by popular vote but had
68 less seats than the PPP. That's what this is all about.
You've rather lost me here I'm afraid. This was the first election held after the banning of TRT and changes to the election rules that many commentators say were designed to reduce the chances of a Thaksin party victory. The number of seats was reduced to 480, with 400 elected from constituencies and 80 based on party-list proportional votes in the eight areas. Despite what many saw as a major campaign by the junta to make things hard for the PPP, it won
26,293,456 constituency votes (compared with
21,745,696 for the Democrats) and 14,071,799 proportional votes (compared with 14,084,265 votes for the Democrats). In respect of the proportional votes both parties got 30 seats. Overall the PPP got 233 seats and the Democrats 165.
Where did I go wrong in thinking that PPP received more of the popular vote?
I agree that the powers that be would like another shot at changing the rules; they know they didn't do enough to 'fix' the system the first time around.
The 2011 constitutional amendments increased the number of seats to 500 and the party list seats to 125. However, this did not result in more seats for the Democrats, as the 2007 results suggest might have happened. In 2012 PT got
15,744,190 proportional votes, compared with
11,433,762 for the Democrats.
Memo to Abhisit ('cos I'm sure it will end up being him),: Better make sure that you make a better job of rigging it next time.
Really this is EXACTLY what the cries for reform are all about ... absolutely nothing else

Another opinion article, with a different point of view, and a particularly well-written one at that. The good thing is that opinion articles like these are being written - whether they support this writer's opinion or not. Some do. A lot do not. This writer takes a particular point of view. It's a cohesive argument. But the conclusion of it - an election first, reforms later - just happens to be exactly the quagmire we've be in for months on end. It's not just a theory as to whether it can or cannot work. It hasn't worked. And the fact that it hasn't worked has brought us to the present situation. If the writer of this article is correct that there is no pathway out but an election first and reforms after - then why does an election seem so unfeasible - apart from the fact that the last one failed ? Are the conditions any better on the ground now than they were then ? Is the legitimacy of what Pheu Thai presently calls the PM really as constitutionally unambiguous as this writer might suppose ? It's an interesting question, because he doesn't actually address that. Wouldn't that constitutional authority be necessary ? And is this writer certain that the EC's fears of whether or not an election could be peacefully held are not reasonably based ?That's also a good question, because he doesn't bring up the EC either. And yet their constitutional role is as vital as that of a constitutionally recognized prime minister. And currently the EC is weighing whether conditions for a peaceful election exist or not, and they are also weighing whether Niwattumrong has the constitutional authority he claims to have.
The last election didn't fail ... it was sabotaged by one side of the political spectrum .... Big difference! ... it should be reheld and the saboteurs jailed so the people can speak ....

So! Why, if the "Pheu Thai" believe he can win any further election, even without vote buying... they do not agree with Abhisit proposal???
Abhisit propose to start right away election reforms (who will take 4 - 6 months) then go for election without problem!!!
WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO LOOSE???
Or maybe they are not sure... ?
Put all the reforms on the table and let's talk ... if not then quit talking reforms
I believe each faction refuses to put fwd its reform suggestions because it knows these will be one sided and cause further friction ... if they knew the reforms weren't devisive then they'd have been on the table as a way out long ago. Now, I can't be the only person thinking this, hence no one is budging.
You can bet the first yellow reform will be to shore up support in the judicial system and protect it from legal challenge, shortly followed by something preventing future change to the appointed senators positions .., followed by every political maneuver to improve their chances of election .... nothing will be literally to the benefit of the people and their freedom to vote as they choose.
The reds are bound to do everything they can to make the senate fully elected which got us in this mess in the first place. They will try to weaken the yellow control of the judicial system also.
Are these the sorry of reforms you are talking about? Hence why nothing is on the table
How about you voice what you believe would be reasonable reforms and also tell me why neither side has formally put them on the table for public discussion.
Personally I believe each side should go to election with its reforms as it's election promises and the one that wins has the mandate to make the changes. Sort of election and referendum in one .... that is really what the people want if you ask them ... not just what the politically active keep screaming

Ex-PM Yingluck's impeachment hearing tentatively postponed
in Thailand News
Posted
If you really think anything will be fair or legal in this case you'd be a fool. This case is nothing more than convincing the public a military coup was justifiable so that the yellow shirts could have their turn at being corrupt for a while. Come any future election the reds will be back in power as always ... and if you really think Yingluck wants the job you're an even bigger fool.
They will convict her even if they can't find any evidence, they have to .... a lot like the koh tao case ... gotta make some body look guilty even if it's the wrong person
