  1. The World Cup have already a winner winner, in every way possible, and it is Costa Rica. Amazing performance!!!!

If Netherlands win the cup, will be unfair after defeating a better team with tricks. Germany and Argentina played a good tournament, but still not convincing.

Only one semi-finalist deserves to get the title again, and it is Brazil.

Not just to honored Neymar's sacrifice, not just because its performance, not just because it is the host. Brazil will win because every player is really a sportsman, and not a fake diver, and not having Neymar will make the other players go extra miles to achieve what many "experts" do not believe its can. Brazil, Football World Champion 2014.

  2. Just bad luck. The reason for the collapse was a 4.0 earthquake, a rare event in Brazil, and a not completed construction. About Brazil' expertise in construction, the country is #1 in concrete expertise followed with Italy...but..probably many structures were not designed to face earthquakes. Japan is one of the few countries designing and building with that in mind. A big earthquake with an epicenter in most big cities in the world will be an unimaginable tragedy. Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro together, just 4 hours driving apart, holds more than 20 million population.

  3. It is a Government Program hiring English teachers for Government schools without experience or certifications. Pay for full time week is just about 10000THB/month, but you will get work permit, experience, and letter of recommendation for future application in better jobs. To get it you just have to show up at Elementary Government Schools and speak with the Director. Many Government schools have difficulty in find native certified English teachers, and will test you in class for a paid position. If you pass the test you may get a job paying equals to teachers with certifications, and you will get the work permit. That is the case in some Chiang Rai, Phayao and Lampang schools I know. Good luck and have fun with the kids!...not get so serious! and learn Thai with them...They love to "play" with "farangs" and probably you will love them too.....but not get too involved with them or with the teachers. Avoid gossips. OK? Good luck.

  4. Here is an article from a local newspaper with a lot of details. Of course as always there are conflicting stories as there are in this article. It indicates the shooter and his comon law wife set a trap in the garage for an intruder and left the door open. Stupid is as stupid does. When someone does this the outcome is predictable. In my opinion they and the two intruders are all culpable. The intruders went into the garage at 12:30am. It apears that none of the four people were endowed with much commom sense. If I was on the jury I would vote to send the shooter and his comom law wife to prison and a five year suspended sentence for the other intruder who ran away.

I have no issues with shooting someone who breaks into my house with the intent to harm me and/or my family but this intent needs to be established first. A person should never start shooting randomly in the dark just because their house has been burglarized previously. The boys boys were wrong for going in the garage but the couple commited a bigger wrong by setting a trap and shoting the intruder without just cause.

It is clear that the homeowner was motivated to shoot somebody setting a trap, in a country where you can get a police response to a burglary call in minutes. He also was stupid, because if its was a real burglary, he can be the one dead now. He deserves go to jail.

  5. By my own experience, I think is not easy to find a decent woman in Thailand if your daily activity is not related with a "normal" working class. Most decent women, like in others countries, single or divorced, are 8AM to 5PM working women or university students/teachers. I am a lot older than you, and married, and never was looking for very young women like the ones probably you are interested in meeting, but I see many nice women working in big stores and banks, real estate companies, dealerships, medical clinics, universities, language schools, weddings and temple's events, art galleries, shopping mall, etc. Decent women are also very concerned about image and reputation, no frequenting bars or some karaoke places, or dressing too "western". Anyway..and by own experience, Most Thai women are very much interested in a find an "sponsor" to change for better life, to travel more, or to get a business partners, etc, etc, than to find love and affection when dating a foreigner. Love will be just a plus, and for a young westerner, that may be a problem for a "normal" relationship if looking for real commitment.

To find the right one can be a long journey....and you will have a lot more chances in be successful if you speak Thai. ....if not..take the time to learn it. If you are lucky, you may meet a fluent English speaker. Love do not happens without good communication. but looks like you are in the right age, experience, and life's situation to do it. No compromises. "Luck doesn't exist. Luck is when opportunity meets preparation"

Make a list of your "wants and needs" and do not give up. Good luck.

Thank you for your well thought out answer ;-)

I think one of my main beginner problems in the world of being single, clearly is that i thought this should be easy!.. And really its harder than in the western world, because so many poor thai guys looking at the same women..

I work out of my house, so already there, im at at a dis-advantage in regards of meeting woman while working.

I dont care about age, as long as she is between 18 and 19 haha.. Sorry, bad joke ;-)) No. I am looking for someone around 30 years old. More stable, and looking for a serious relationship.

I have been fighting the "learn thai" curse for around 8 years, and truly find it extremely hard to remember. Worse than cellular biology. And that was hard haha. Goes in 1 ear and right out the other.. Need to find time for more intensive studies, somehow..

    Thank you again..

Very good advice and response. I also think that to learn the language it is FUNDAMENTAL, even if a Thai woman speak good English, because the communication with its family will be very important for the relationship. I agree that it is not easy for a 70 years old like me, but you are young and educated. I was 45 when I learned English. Get into a language school. Thai women will appreciate you a lot more knowing that you are interested in their culture....and schools are very good "farming" grounds....you may find a beautiful Thai tutor..

  6. If you are interested in meet a very tall and beautiful, recently divorced, 46 years old busy medical professional, no children at home, I can ask her if she wants to meet a younger farang....She really look like in her 30's.

Send me a message...At least can be a good contact for you...Who knows?

  7. Looks like you didn't have good luck with your new partner in life, and will be a good idea to get a lawyer..Do not worry. If you looks like on the picture, and you frequent the right circles, I do not have doubts that you will find another foreigner willing to share your life.

I am married...if not....I will ask you for a date. Good luck.

  8. By my own perception and experience of more than 3 years here.......If you do not speak a good Thai, and do not understand Thai customs and way of life, always you will be at risk in get "bad" responses and attitude. Thai people may agree or accept your attitude just in appearance, but not sincerely, sometimes just because cannot even understand what you say. In response, they just will do and act without any consideration to you.......and sometimes very hard...if your attitude was offensive for them in some ways.

And that, may happens in any culture, even between western cultures. Ask a North American it's opinion about South Americans.. or a German its opinions about Italians...

  9. If you are looking for a good and affordable all wheel drive, look at the Subaru small SUV...1350000 here in Thailand. (Not much over its price in the US). Very good reports on USA car Internet sites and...I love Subaru!....best cars I had...... I had an Audi Cabrio too....beautiful!..but not gentle with my pocket going to the shop.

  10. Years ago if I was responding to this topic...in the US...I will say that lending money to a friend is the way to ending the friendship....and can happen here with a Thai friend too........but....now.. I am not really sure about this topic. After getting married with a simple Thai woman from a simple Thai family that I know will lend me or giving me money if I really need it...my "values" are changing...

  11. There are good and serious people on Internet dating sites. I met some. But also not so good. I met some. For "farang" men it is easy to meet because most ladies are local. For women, not so easy, because most men are "coming...",..."passing by". ...or just looking for fun times. If you are around 40 years old, even if you look younger and you are beautiful, Thai men always looks for a lot younger women to get serious, "farang" not always. Looking for serious relationship, you will have better chances meeting farangs a lot older than you. Some over 55 years old are retired, and already settled here, and looking for a good companion.

If you are from the Philippines, probably you are Christian, and you will find "referrals" and new friends in churches and religious groups...in sites like this one or expat groups sites, even in Facebook. Before meeting my Thai wife, I was always looking to meet women from your country, Asian, but with more western attitude. I was even thinking in move to Cebu. Many farangs will appreciate that for sure. Keep looking. Good luck.

  12. If you were my daughter, I will advise to stay away from busy tourist areas, like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Hua Hin, or just to visit those places for a couple days, not more.. Backpackers trying to save money using cheap hostels where sometimes share rooms with strangers, and that's not a good idea. Other foreigners can be more dangerous than bad local people. If your plans includes to stay long term in Chiang Mai or Lampang, I may have good info for you. Where to stay, where to go, and local good contacts. Also links to facebook pages and sites where yo can contact young foreigners living in Chiang Mai. If you will like to stay long or short term in Chiang Rai, where I live, my wife owns a simple dormitory building with private rooms for university students in a very good location, very close to the airport and bus stop, main universities, temples, parks, and cultural attractions.

Send me a message if you are interested in know more about. Be safe and take care. Welcome to Thailand.

  13. Many famous surrealistic painters, from Salvador Dali to Francis Bacon, portrayed Jesus on its works, not always in a religious way...Were criticized at the time...now its shows on the best world museum, from Chicago Metropolitan Art Museum to the Louvre. This one looks to me like a very nice piece from a talented surrealist painter. Surrealism is hard to understand some times. Its just Art. An Art can be very polemic sometimes.
