  1. A while ago here on TV, was posted that a Canadian 50 something oil industry millionaire got married with a 27 years old restaurant server he met in one of his business trips to BK. After few years of taking care of her financially in a long distance relationship, he decide to move to Thailand to married her. He give to his bride's mother 1.000.000 US for sin-sot.......

Probably that was his monthly spending in Canada....

I will follow his example and I will do the same....Pay a sin-sot equal to my monthly spending in Thailand...Isn't fair?.

  2. I am an architect. My in law father, a nice 85 Thai man with carpentry skills, owns a small and nice2 stories 100 sq.mt. house close to Phayao-Chiang Rai. He is a widow now, and wants to sell it to move with the older daughters. He is selling very cheap, for less than a million THB with a 500 sq.mt lot, and It is on a good location by the mountains. I do not need another home, and I am busy enough with my garden/outdoors projects, if not, I will buy it to remodel to a Thai-Western fusion home or...an artist studio?

  3. Depending in your budget facebook may be a good place, but are places online specific for your business I didn't use it because I am in a very low budget with my MeanigfulRetreats project in Chiang Rai.....You can do optimization in your website to get into the first pages on the main browsers like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc....something not cheap in other countries, but cheap here finding the right Internet savvy person in your area...or free..if you know how to do it. Send me an e-mail and I will explain to you how to do it.

  4. I was ready to move to Indonesia from Chiang Mai..... but I met my wife...and change plans. Cambodian beaches were in my mind too. Closer to the US???....the East Mexican beaches like the ones close to Cancun are wonderful...just minutes fly to Miami, Cuba and Puerto Rico..... A little further option?...Brazil small towns beaches...Low cost of living, very friendly and beautiful people, a lot of good jobs for native English speakers, easy immigration rules.....not so much corruption or violence. May be the same in other countries too..but ONLY..in SMALL towns were you can become another "local" very fast. Again...Thailand is not just Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Phuket........

  5. Really it is very bad that Thailand is not like the US, where the 2 parties work together in creating fantastic schemes and conspiracies to steal the people's money and buried the country in debt. Yingluck and Suthep together can bring this beautiful Asian country to an amazing destiny, a real Paradise for the elites, with peaceful slaves living and working on the rice fields, and elders with free housing and food in shelters. No more violence and revolutions in Thailand, a real Democracy!..... like the US.

  6. I can tell you that the cost of using a car (gasoline and maintenance) just to drive around for fun, not for working, it is more than 5000thb/month. The payment for a small new car with 25% down payment is more than 7000THB/month and full insurance about 2000THB/month. A bad deal because the depreciation. A second hand car may will better deal, if it is a good one in the right price, but the operation cost is equal or higher. Anyway, car is a luxury if not need it for work.

  7. I'm in Thailand as an expat, moved by my company. We (I and my husband) moved here two years ago and although we both had visited the country several times before, the reality was far worse than what neither of us expected. Initially, we were contemplating of staying in Thailand indefinitely, but that has since changed. I was not prepared to the rampant corruption, xenophobia and racism. Understanding that we will always be treated as less-than, has made me regret ever moving here.

I know there are tons of farang who couldn't be happier here and I wish them all the best, I honestly do. We will soon be packing our belongings and moving away and I can't wait for that to happen.

please, please, please tell me you are not American. This would be a very sad post if you are.

Thailand for me is not unlike any other country I have lived and worked in. As I have posted here on this forum many times.....I wake up. go to work, pay the bills, kiss my wife and children, and enjoy working on our farm. So it could have been a number of other countries but just so happens it is Thailand.

As for the above post, sorry for your experience but it is much the same or even worse in many other countries I have lived and worked in. I can honestly say that living here in Thailand it is almost refreshing to experience all of the above items you have mentioned and everybody knowing it is happening. In some other countries you know it is happening but the governments try to conceal or whitewash it.

I hope they are not Americans too. The US is the longest world's dictatorship with a good costume called Democracy of 2 parties. Everything is BIG in the US, also corruption, but any SMALL citizen cannot use it, only the ones in POWER. A Government employee will be afraid to get $100 of your money for a bribe, and lose its job, but politicians are not afraid to make $ BILLIONS in fraudulent operations and financial conspiracies. The US have the BIGGEST Military in the world because the young unemployed and uneducated do not have better choice for housing and food. Do you see Thai people living on the streets?..yes...a few....In America, homeless shelters are not enough..and homeless people are living on the streets in donated igloo tends....Sure..in the American way...on delimited city zones...8PM to 8AM..Shocked??? Ask me why I know that.....

It is the only country where you can be a refugee in your own land under the worst Social Security and Health Care in the world!

    The US is a farce!

  8. My opinion....

Your GF % of the partnership mat be a problem, but I think a lawyer can creates a contract where your GF will have 50% of vote value.....or put you on the partnership with 0.5% of shares and 25% of vote value. To quit a good job to start a business may be not a good idea until the business creates a good revenue and shows future, and not problems with the partnership...

Not invest any of your money...Thai people are not good administrating money in partnerships/friendship situations..let your GF deal with that.....and not get involved directly with the operation at all....

  9. So the two people sit side by side, and the one steering constantly elbows the passenger every time they go around a corner?

No....I am 80 years old, my 25 years old petite and cute Thai girl friend ride It seating on my lap....That's make this bike very cool...and very warm sometimes...I just love it! ....Younger bikers in big Kawasaki cannot ride like that...girlfriends have to hold in their bellies.....I know....not get jealous ...you will be old some day too....Just wait....

  10. A motorized chair with tiny wheels is fast & safe? wink.png

The wheels are similar size than any motorbike on the road, even wider like the Honda Zoomer, and it is not designed to ride on freeways or turn at high speed....Safer than a 2 wheels because it is more stable...

    while parked

OKKKKK...You won...cannot compete with a Kawasaki 1000CC............but... I "race" to the market every morning...and I feel safer than on my Honda Click carrying my groceries....What you want to get for 30,000THB?

By the way....Somebody feels safe riding a Kawasaki 1000 with 3 Kg of groceries bags hanging around?
