Be careful with the 800,000 in the bank method. I went last week with the required stamped letter and 3 months statement and my bank book which was not updated at every transaction but was updated on the day. They refused and told to present a full year statement. Back to Kasikorn bank and returned. Refused again because my statement showed I had briefly fell below 400,000 in May. I was lucky because I have another yearly fixed deposit account with LH Bank which qualified. So off to Terminal 21 to arrange another letter and stamped copy of my bank book. That did the trick and they gave my extension. This is the first time I have had a problem with them so can't complain and it was my fault because of carelessness maintaining my account above 400,000 at all times.

Shi Zhengli
In 2005, a team led by Shi Zhengli and Cui Jie found that the SARS virus originated in bats.
In 2013 Shi Zhengli published a paper in the science journal Nature. They demonstrated a direct human infection of SARS type viruses without the need for an intermediary host.
In 2014, Shi Zhengli was involved in an investigation of bat coronaviruses, specifically gain of function experiments involving both the SARS and bat coronaviruses, a joint research of University of North Carolina. That same year funding for the project in the US had been paused due to the moratorium on risky virology studies with influenza, MERS & SARS viruses, announced by the US government.
In November 2015 Shi Zhengli published a paper in the British journal Nature Medicine discussing her research into synthetic viruses namely a self replicating Chimeric virus. This virus had the SARS virus as the framework but the key-S protein was replaced with the one they had found in a bat Coronavirus. The lab mice which were infected with this new virus revealed severe lung damage with no cure.
At this point in time there was some concern in the scientific community. In fact in November 2015 Simon Wayne-Hobson of the Pasteur Institute in France warned in the Nature journal “The researchers have created a Novel virus that grows remarkably well in human cells. If the virus escapes nobody could predict the trajectory.”
In 2018 Shi Zhengli spoke at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The topic was Bat Corona Virus and it’s Cross Species Infection. Reports of this event have since been deleted from the university website.
In February 2020, her team published a paper in Cell Research showing that remdesivir, an experimental drug owned by Gilead Sciences, had a positive effect in inhibiting the virus in vitro, and applied for a patent for the drug in China. Shi co-authored a paper labeling the virus as the first Disease X.
Also in February 2020, the South China Morning Post reported that Shi's decade-long work to build up one of the world's largest databases of bat-related viruses gave the scientific community a "head start" in understanding the virus. Interestingly the SCMP also reported that Shi was the focus of personal attacks in Chinese social media who claimed the place she worked was the source of the virus.
Guess where she works………….. The Wuhan Institute of Virology.

It's a viral infection which targets the respiratory system. Through the mouth or nose or eyes. Now I was advised by my doctor that properly washing hands and avoiding touching the parts listed above would help immensely. However he also  advised to carry a bottle of water around when in crowds and drink frequently. The virus thrives in the air passages but has to be there for a while to be effective. Flushing it into your gut it will not survive your stomach acid. Not 100% convinced but what harm could it do.

Yes I did have the paper with the date on it but it is not a form, only an indication of the requirement. I was not asked to produce it at all. Next year I will not be wasting my time over there. I feel sorry for the people who live in Bangkok. I have a friend who spends hours and hours at his IO.

Yes I certainly did the sizes were identical and I am not racing a formula 1 car so certainly do not need to worry about the compound. If you check the tread on both tires are almost identical. There is absolutely no problem here. When I worked at the engine sheds there was a diesel fitter there who I would class as an absolute guru as far as cars are concerned. He rebuilt and showed many cars, mainly Etype Jags. He always maintained that garages/manufacturers lie about the need to have exactly the same tires on the car for obvious reasons. It's a load of bull he told me and I am sorry I would rather believe him. There were lots of other tips he gave me about how to maintain a car which I have followed throughout my life with great success. One great bit of advice was to change the oil every 5000Miles and not as per manufacturers recommendation. This proved to be a great tip. Not a great extra expense. Every car I have had in all my years the engine has always been like the day it was bought when I sold it on.

Yes and no. The sort code is not a UK sort code as I found out recently when trying to open an account at a UK bank. They needed a back up bank sort code and as soon as I put in my Barclays IOM sort code it was rejected and I was informed that this sort code was not a UK bank sort code and so did not qualify.

I thought I had quality tires on my Mazda 3 because they were Dunlop Max 215/45R18 89W fitted from when the car was new. However after only 20,000 km I noticed a side wall crack on the front left side. Side wall fractures means change at the earliest for safety. Anyway I changed it out for a Yokohama. I was not going to buy another Dunlop although I thought that maybe it could be a one off. After taking off the tire I saw that the inside wall of the tire was a complete shambles with massive splits. How it had not burst I will never know. The one off problem appeared to be correct until two days ago when i noticed again a split this time in the front drivers side. Now the car has done 30,000 km. The tread is still in good condition so I was a bit P**sed off that I had to again buy a new tire ahead of time. Again when the tire was removed the same was seen on the inside wall almost in shreds. Again I have been lucky not to have a burst at high speed. I got the guy to check the two rear tires and he told me they were ok both outside and inside walls with plenty of tread so I left them on. Next month however I will replace both of them when some cash is available. Better to be safe than sorry. I am afraid in this case I cannot recommend Dunlop tires and it's too early to assess the Yokohama's. For disclosure the car is 90% of the time under secure parking and not out in the sun all day.

On a similar topic, not exactly the same but thought I would point this out. I had a request to report and show my bank book when I did my yearly extension in November. The date was set for today so along I went to Jomtien. After standing in the long queue at the entrance I was told to go to desk 8. I was not given a queue ticket which I thought a little strange. At the desk I noticed one guy sitting there going through documents and giving out laminated numbers. I waited until there was a gap and approached him saying I was there as requested to show my bank book. He took it and looked through and said OK. That was it. He did not record anything so I asked about this. No need he says. I left thinking what was the point of that. How in hell's name would the immigration office know if I had not reported?

It looks very much like I was wasting my time over there. Have others had the same experience?

A long time friend on another forum, since passed away, was claiming the full pension along with 'cold weather allowance' for years.  He used a UK address.  However, he received a letter at his UK address around the time he would have received his cold weather allowance.  Basically the letter said - 'You are not entitled to the allowance as you live in Thailand'.  He spent the remaining years of his life having 50 quid deducted from his pension every month to pay back the overpayments.

 

They have ways of finding out.

This is why you should never brag about what you are doing. The only way they could have know is if someone dobbed him in. I know a couple of guys here are bragging in the same manner about pension credits even the are making a killing renting cars etc. Not only are they milking the UK system but also the Thai system. They are playing a stupid game

I wonder how many times I have to say this. Elon Musk had every right to go on twitter and slag Unsworth off. Anyone would have done the same. However you DO NOT call someone a pedophile unless you have undeniable proof. "I did it in the heat of the moment" is no excuse. If you kill someone in the heat of the moment you are still guilty of murder. It may be a lesser crime than premeditated but it's still murder. This guy has to live with the title Pedo Guy for the rest of his life. Should he get 180 mil for that? I don't think so because it does not warrant such a penalty IMHO. Unsworth got greedy.
