  1. personally i think she is squeezing you. If this was Bangkok, then maybe, just maybe, i would believe. But this is Isaan, where a friend of mine (single mom) is earning around B20,000 and feed her parents, one child and still manages housing and car installments!

i may be wrong as OP's inputs are not enough, but still.....

  2. with the latest android os upgrade to marshmellow 6.0, it is better to get at least 2GB ram. Better to have 3GB as anything below 2GB is lagging, even for lollipop 5.

i am still using my Nexus 7 (2012) 1GB but had to tweak it to work. Many had to revert back to Andriod kitkat and below for smooth functioning.

  3. if you are on an android, use both of these:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaver&hl=en

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.awalker.co.iBattery&hl=en

do the settings to your satisfaction and report back. actually there is one more app if you are a heavy user. i added those three and my phone stays less than 2% drain every night. did you root your phone?

please note that if you are a gamer, then battery drains fast!

  4. A truly heart warming story but probably marred later when the graduate findhe/she cannot secure a well paying job due to his education obtained thru a

" no fail" policy plus, Asean competitors, ( S.Korea/Japan/China), will be

arriving soon and make apparent his lack of real engineering knowledge.

Latest reports suggest that up to 50 % of Thai University grads.,who don't

have an influential family/friend/sponsor,( and he doesn't ), end up

stocking shelves in mini marts !

are you kidding, after that post he will be hired pronto!

  5. first person to call, your insurance agent

last person to call, your insurance agent

..... unless your insurance agent is a certifiable dick, then call the company per se.

note that you should not call the police but if they are around, then let the insurance guy handle it. Generally, if he thinks you should pay the fine, you should. Again, unless you are able to assess he is a dick! facepalm.gif

  6. Come on guys. The man poured his heart and soul and money into it. Walk away? Let a scumbag take his dog, bike, woman etc. no way me thinks. Here's what u do. 1. Go to Thailand without telling anyone. 2. Steal your belongings and sell them. 3. Dogs optional. 4. With the money you recovered go screw your brains out. 5. Take photos along the way. 7. As you're sitting in the departure lounge take a selfie. 8 send all the photos to her with a loooooool.

Nothing is sweeter than revenge if you've been ripped off. You'll laugh about for years to come rather than feel crap every time u think about it.

don't dig a bigger hole for yourself just because you feel the anger. once you get em MIB involved, now you can consider yourself officially in the midst against a triad mob!

the sound advice given was to get a divorce (as this is in your favor with her cheating) and walk away. Since you are not 100% innocent as you have claimed, and she is in anguish, it is better to just leave it at that where everybody is agreeable and there is some shred of sanity/dignity. Revenge won't change the past!

That said, good luck to ya, mate!

  7. Unless you registered the marriage, just walk away. Whatever you do, do not meet with her at your old place. Too many relatives, perhaps her new boyfriend, and others will be there. And mark my words, it won't end well for you. Run Away!

yeah, your soon to be ex mom-in-law "said" that very clearly! sad, but i think your wife had enough of you and that is they way the Thais go when they had enough!

on a side note, i am sorry for you, mate!

  8. I will look for his advert. Struggled with cheap Thai made knives but finally got fed up and bought a full suite of second hand carbon steel and a new set of German Wusthoff trident knives on eBay and had 'em shipped in. Lovely knives and usually only need a touchup on a steel but will need a pro sharpening, eventually. A properly sharpened knife is a joy to use and well worth the cost of the service. Hope I can find him.

which ebay site did you use? i have trouble having some of the items that i want (mostly electronic things) unable to ship in

  9. I have had shoulder rebuilds and many other injuries. Having used all the prescribed painkillers and have tried Glucosomine/Chondrioton, Nurofen,Naprosyn Voltaren etc for sore joints and arthritis pain

12 months ago my thai wife told me to try Derris Scanden extract. I was dubious at first but have found it really works better than anything else that I have tried. Available at pharmacies in thailand. As it is a natural herbal product it does not upset the stomach like some drugs and has no side effects that I have found

Not sure about using with blood thinners

looks interesting. will give it a try when back in Thailand. Thanks

  10. Many years ago I knew several very educated ladies from Singapore here in the Los Angeles, CA area. One was from a fairly affluent family and she would tell me some stories of her family having tea with "the tyrant of Singapore".

Give me anytime a tyrant if the country can prosper, lift the living standard, rule abiding citizens, little corruption, efficient civil service, education, top Global 5 per capital income, safety etc all that in a lifetime from a fishing port.

    Well put, Eric

  11. You don't need to have "preferred" shares, just dilute the number of shareholders so that you have a "voting" majority, then you will be elected "Director" and thus control the company

You must understand though that there is a lot of controversy over this system since you have two different laws competing with each other

On one side you have the Department of Business Development, under the Ministry of Commerce who "license" these companies and allows them to own property in the business name

On the other you have the Land Office which may or may not restrict what type of property can be owned by these companies and each one can set their own requirements

The best option for the OP is to try and obtain property via a long term lease (30 year legal limit) or even better, via a usufruct, which allows the control and use of the property for your lifetime

Unfortunately in many cases Thai landowners and developers will not "sell". / lease their property since most want to get in and get out, something they cannot do with a lease or usufruct. This is because the long term lease or usufruct becomes part of the chanote (title deed) and legally they and their heirs must honor the terms. So the most clearly legal way to "control" property in Thailand, is not always available to foreigners

This is enlightening. Many thanks. I understood previously that companies under foreigners are not allowed to do so! duhh...
