  1. Hi,

I just got paid a cheque (which I have never gotten in about 5 years) off someone who I tried hard to get money out on and was suppose to deposit money into my account, It is a decent amount of money and I am just worried the cheque may bounce.

Its a SCB chq and I got a Kasikorn account, how long do you think it will clear if I deposit it today? And what can I do if it bounces?

    Thanks

  2. Well some Thai's do make comments towards blacks, but really that is nothing compared what happens to blacks in some western countries lol

Thai's don't have gangs that beat up black people or anything like that.

It is a different type of racism here, mostly verbal only which in my opinion is very light racism.

Plus a lot of idiots here do give us a bad name, seeing guys talk shit about the women and getting drunk and trashing the place, I am sure it makes some Thai's think we are <deleted>.

  3. Hi,

I was thinking about being called different things here in Thailand, double pricing etc.

We all get fed up with it every now and then and had a conversation about how racist Thai's are at the pub.

But after talking and seeing a lot of racism that has been going on towards Asians in general on youtube. I don't think us foreigners are getting it that bad.

The country people in any country are a little bit racists, probably because they are a bit more simple minded.

But I don't really see Thai's screaming at farangs on public transports, go farang bashing, making vidoes of themselves on how they hate farangs or gangs that hate all foreigners.

Perhaps it is a different type of racism, a quiet and not in your face racism.

I personally think us farangs are far more racists than Thai's could ever be, whats your thoughts?

  4. Hi,

I am about to register a new company and will have the capital etc to get a work permit.

At the moment I am just on a ED visa, so I guess I will have to change it to a non-B right.

Can I do this in Thailand? Or do I have to piss off to another country to get it?

If so, I would prefer to go to Laos or Cambodia to do it.

So, how long would I have to stay abroad to get all of this processed?

    Thanks

  5. Hi,
I'm about to sign a divorce settlement which I pay child support for a 4 year old

    10,000 baht 2014 to 2016
    15,000 baht 2017 to 2019
    20,000 baht 2020 to 2022
    25,000 baht 2023 to 2025
    30,000 baht 2026 to 2028
    35,000 baht 2029 to 2031 - when she turns 21

I'm ok with the first part, but the last few jumps kind of scare me.

What happens in Thailand if I can't pay? Can I go to court and restructure? Or will this be cemented with no changes at all?

I think the jump is ok assuming school fees will get more expensive and inflation. But I will be nearly 50 when the last few jumps in payment comes along. I'm pretty confident I can pay that money by the time comes around, but also am thinking about the what if's....

Some input would be nice, my lawyer thinks I'm crazy to accept this.... But I think it's ok and just want to file the papers ASAP.
  6. Hi,

Some people may remember my previous topic on getting a divorce with my wife and she wanting 20K per month.

We have negotiated to 10K per month, but I will always buy my daughter more things and pay for her education when she gets older.

There is one thing in the agreement I want to fully understand but not sure if I am just tired or what, but what does the following mean?

According to the payment of child support under the item 1, the amount of THB 60,000 would be initial braked down and estimated under the fact of daily expenditures for staying, education, travelling, medical payment and relevant other expenses which be happened of the child’s life.

Does this mean that education, traveling, medical expenses are included in the 10K?

Mr. xxxx will continue to pay child support to Ms. yyyy for child until that child attains the age of twenty-one (21) years. Mr. xxxx and Ms. yyyy acknowledge their continuing responsibility to support the child, up to and including financial support for their tertiary education.

Is 21 the usual age to stop paying child support?

Also, I would like to see a lawyer, anyone can recommend a good one in Bangkok?

  7. Take the kid back to your home country and take care of everything yourself.

    Don't give her a penny.

I don't think that would be so easy. Plus I would not want my daughter not knowing her mother and father, if I didn't have her, I wouldn't be here still.

Well then get ready for a world of pain and frustration

You are just at the beginning. If u think for a second the schools here will do a good job for 20k or 30k u are delusional.I have seen the pain a friend went through trying to manage this with his ex missus and it was frankly impossible.

If you can't afford bangkok level internationals school, 800k per year, then go home.

    Really? 800K a year for a 4 year old?

Go home? If your a foreigner and can't afford 800K a year for education for a 4 year old we all should go home? lol Thanks for the laugh.
