  1. cant wait for the footy to finish so all the 'little managers' can go back into hiding for another 2/4 years..........its easy to see through the majority of people's comments on here, they are just reciting comments & statisics from papers, tv etc.....quite sad really......muppets :o

  2. I was in the airport mall the other day and saw a big sale on Lacoste, with most items running around 2300 bht. Not really a steal! Before I came to Chiang Mai, everybody told me to stock up on cheap Polo, Lacoste, etc. Ive seen the locals wearing these brands and I'm wondering if they might be frequenting shops that are carrying a cheaper version of the originals :o . I've gone through The Night Bazaar and Wororot, and seen the fake Gucci and Louis Vuitton handbags, of course, but does anyone know a reliable spot for some knock-offs? I'm looking for men's clothes, personally, but I've also been instructed to stay on the lookout for women's too.

lacoste shop in siam square, & numerous department stores sale lacoste gear at affordable prices, normally between b1500 - b1800 for a short sleeved buttoned shirt, which in my eyes is excellent value. In uk can expect to pay £60 - £80 for similar garments, the badge is a little different but the quality is not, thin summer coats are also cheap but most stores only stock up to a size 5, which is fairly large!!!!

Cheap trainers only come in the form of converse really....but if anyone knows any different i'd like to know.

  3. I let a Thai person (someone who I thought was a friend and could trust) borrow 7000 baht. I was supposed to be repayed several weeks ago. Is there anything I can do to get my money back? 7000 baht is not that much but I don't want to just let the person get away with stealing my money so easily.

brilliant...........!!!!..havent bothered reading the rest....but i bet theres a few keeping quiet.... :o

  4. gonna mark it in the diary now...

me n the mrs missed out last year but will try to get there this time

    :D

Maybe we can get a few of us, we can all chip in for a minibus, i dont mind driving being a non drinker :D Me and the wife, you and your missus, i have a friend and his thai missus would probably be up for it. Get that monkey from cheltenham with us :D

    ok drive!

from the 666 camp there could be up to 8 adults, 2 kids

reckon you should take us up in a 40ft trailer or a waggon-and-drag from your work mate... not sure a minibus will be big enough :D

    'loose the kids............... :D:D:o

  5. GOOD RIDDANCE

Wahey..................... :o:D Bum bum, symbal's clash.........

    redrus

someone had to start the ball rolling.......he oughta keep his mouth shut

I agree, you should now you've had your say........... :D

    redrus

please step up, and tell all your wealth of knowledge ( yours, not from the media )

  6. "...your life to be in danger for standing up for yourself?"

Gimme a break. Thais are NOT supermen and they can't/won't fight unless they've got overwhelming odds.

They expect foreigner to back down and this is part of the problem. Talk it out and stand your ground. Stand up if you're right. You don't have to yell, kick or scream, but for Christ's sake, don't be a total pussy... geeez.

    Top fellater..... :o

  7. Serves him right. All white guys hanging around in Pattaya are drinking, whoring basterds anyway otherwise you choose some other place to live.

It's the biggest brothel in Thailand and 8 out of 10 of the "women" are men anyway, custom made especially for dumb expat <deleted>. Being stupid will cost you big time overthere.

Don't start crying if mama bends you over this time! Dumb old ######! Good laugh though....

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...sounds like a person with first hand knowledge of being done over.....go on tell us its not true................................

  8. [. It aint Thailand, after all.

spot on, that remark hit the nail smack bang on the head, this is a holiday resort and all bikini bashers should take note and reel their heads firmly back in...........( why do they sell bikini's in thai....to wear elsewhere...???)

    get a grip

  9. so what do all the thai's working at night think of the ladyboys revealing thier 'bits', alot of previous posts seem to be their own personal view on the subject, not the real question.

maybe everyone will start wearing jumpers on the beach and have thier massages fully clothed, its a problem that wont be solved and peoples opinion will always differ.

alot of thai women dont want to wear anything remotely skimpy in case they are thought of as a 'bar girl', which is sad but will never change.........

  10. Managing on a budget is not something that many Thais can do.

Most Thais have never had "spare" money to save, so starting later in life is difficult.

My wife is Thai and so are her children, they all seem to have holes in their pockets.........

I agree with other posters who have suggested a regular monthly amount, with no extras, except for medical emergencies.

Just explain you have to live on a fixed amount as well and money does not grow in trees.

i have to disagree with the first comment regarding saving, my tw and a few friends really save hard when they have been working and sometimes want to work ridiculous shifts in order to save money, the point being is you have to teach them ( my missus now has more money banked than me :D )

but it also a headbanging exercise when it comes to their mothers who think we are all millionaires, who have a bottomless pit of cash..

just an example...............my missus who's 7 months pregnant phoned her mum back home for a natter and explained we dont have alot of spare cash now due to her giving up work for the baby and for the foreseeable future..........her mums answer was to ' pop over and give HER our newborn to look after so my wife could go back to work to earn some more cash....................glad i'm not seeing her for a while :o

  11. one thing i cant get my head round is people giving , albeit small amounts, of cash like pocket money to the family, from where my tw is from they rarely need money, mostly exchanging of rice / sarongs etc... is this really a good habit to get into..? surely enticeing them to look after themselves would be better...

  12. "The point I was making is that you had your wife with you....."

Yes, and the teenage girl who had just been drugged and raped in a foreign country, had nobody with her.

Give her and us a break, will you, gburns?

Talk about pedantic and stubborn, my goodness... :D

here here...cant believe what an arguementative cod piece this gburns is, hope he's gone for a while..........comes down to bloody ozzies again.....now theres a surprise... :o

  13. When I first came to Thailand, I met a girl who worked in one of the King Castle Bars on Patpong. She looked about 20 years old and spoke excellent English, but was actually 15 years old, which wasn't that uncommon at the time.

I wasn't interested in her sexually, but she hung around the Malaysia Hotel all the time, where I stayed, and was a friendly sort, so we talked a lot.

We got to be pretty good friends and she told me all about herself. Her parents had brought her to Bangkok and pretty much just dumped her on the street when she was 13 and shortly she ended up on Patpong. She told me that she could work elsewhere if she wanted, but was having fun traveling around and making pretty good money at the same time. She didn't think of herself as a victim.

I found her to be quite mature and level headed and quite a nice person and I saw her around for a couple of years. Was always running into her at Patpong or in Phuket or Samui on a "working vacation".

To make a long story short, I met her again when she was about 25. She was a manager at a big shopping center in Bangkok, was happy, married to a Farang and doing fine. I've run into her a few more times since then and everything has gone well for her.

I just hope that she wasn't one of a kind. :o

    I hope she was....... :D

actually burnsy' i thought it was quite a 'good' story to hear....do you have any better ones...??? :D glad to hear of these girls who have turned things around........bloody ozzies

  14. good job this isn't a ' manchester forum', coz there would be no one to talk about it :D:D

You've clearly not been following this thread closely have you - there'll be a test on it soon - as the two reds on here are from M/cr aS am i, so the majority of posts HAVE been posted by mancunians. :D

you havent just been talking amongst yourselves.......219 posts........have a word........... :o

  15. ...I really don't understand why "falans" should come to Thailand to marry...

...why don't simply look for a beautiful maid and pay her decently every month for take care you, cooking, clean home etc. etc....it's far away better than have a so-called Thai wife that claim money for family and limit your freedom...

...doing so you have someone who take care you and you're free to do everything you want...and you don't have any problems!!!!

what bollax you talk....when I came to los the LAST thing on my mind was marriage

  16. Bit tragic thats for sure for both partys.

Illiterate farm girl marrys broken down old falang.

Why...for her A better future,a sacrfice to feed the family.

For him live in housemaid and sex slave.

I think that's an unfair way to generalize farangs who are old. Are they all borken down? Are you sure that old man farangs look for brides to be housemaids and sex slaves.

Personally, I'm not incline to believe that.

no they dont even have to be old.......believe me there are younger men doing at it as well.........

  17. I was at around 28/29 a bit older than the average backpacker, so was well used to travelling and not feeling like I "had" to do it in a crowd - I still remember down in Oz, where a group of guys and gals in a Hostel were all excited about a trip they had purchased for 100 bucks each and invited me along. The idea was that they got provided with a jeep and a tent and were "allowed" to camp on a beach for the night and could have a party. I tried to explain that I had in my life already been to Beach parties, already driven on Beaches and had already been camping - so the idea of PAYING someone to do all this in addition to Beer Money was quite a strange a concept - but I guess at 20/21 ish and you come from somewhere where their are no beaches then I can see the attraction, but still someone was making very good money from this!

fraser island eh...???sleeping with the dingoe's.......on a koala tour..???

  18. cant help much with the living acc. for a prolonged stay, but bali does have alot to offer away from kuta beach ( same same patong ).active volcanoes were very interesting.!! and the villages were welcoming, as for 3 months there, if your after r&r then ok, nut after a month there it was time to move on for me, plenty of other islands to see.......and there was only one girly bar called appropriately....lips..!
