The route Mac suggests is fine. Done it several times but usually fly from LPB to Vientiane and then back into Thailand via NK
There is a good duty free shop at the Lao -Thai border crossing at NK.
Back to CM via Udon. Fly or bus

If you have bronchial problems then you should avoid CM
during the burning season.

I recently cut down a few trees in my yard because they were either diseased, attracked swarms of red ants or dropped massive amounts of leaves/fruit on my ground. I am now looking for something that can replace them without doing a lot of the same. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have heard that Rain Trees are nice but my lot is not large enough for such a size.
Thanks
Had you considered eucalypts? Hardy in this climate, no fruit and will retain their leaves if watered well. Red ants don't like them, and they look attractive too. Some nice lemon scented gums or ghost gums.....MM
eucs... burn great

Last time I went to Mae Sai (two months ago )I was given a pass valid for two week.
Its like a mini passport, with photo and personal details

Sounds like the day pass you get Doc.
Did they keep your real passport for two weeks?
Stayed one night.

I'm off to do my first visa run in Laos in a few days (went down to Malaysia the last couple of times).
Just want to check this seems about right for anyone who has done it.
- Get a flight to udon tahni cuz it's cheaper at around 2k baht inc tax (the flights are only in the evening with NokAir, maybe cuz i left it to the last minute)
- When I get there, get a mini-bus to Kong kaen in Laos
- A Laos visa is $40 (need to bring USD and photo copy of passport and photos)
This is the bit I'm not sure about
I need to get from Kong Kaen to Vientienne as I understand it. Am I just following other visa runners?
If my flight is at 10pm on wed, I guess I am going to end up not sleeping since it takes a few hours to get from udon thani to vientienne. Will I be just hunting down the thai embassy on Thursday morning so I can lodge it in time?
If I lodge it on Thursday morning, can I assume I will get it back on friday and can get a flight back then?
Cheers for any info
Khon Kaen I believe is in Thailand.
Take the bus from Udon to Nong Khai.
Tuk Tuk to border.
Get Lao visa at border.
Take pick up to Vientian

[i started to design one but have problems sourcing the piezo (20kHz - 25kHz) of a reasonable size. The rest of the design is trivial.

If a good General Practitioner is appropriate, I can thoroughly recommend Dr Tawachai at Loi Kroh Clinic - 62/2 Loi Kroh Road (opposite Wat Loi Kroh) & Tel. 053 271571. Excellent English, warm character and very diligent. As others have said elsewhere, also very reasonable/fair prices. If there should be anything outside his abilities to attend to, I'm sure he would be able to refer the patient to an appropriate specialist.
In my experience:-
Incorrect prescription.
Advised dose excessive

I understand the air pollution is generally worse in the cool season.
Is a trip up there in EARLY November rather than late November a better chance to avoid the really bad air?
Signed, Asthma Guy
Should be no problem.
