  1. "Farang trap" lol that is hilarious.

Rimping is a pleasure to shop at. The other day an employee came over and explained the different tastes of the different cantaloupe, he had excellent English, great service. Standard items are on a par with elsewhere but it is certainly a place to seek out bargains.

My only complaint is that they usually don't have egg salad for my sandwiches :(

  2. That photo in the original post is evil, plain and simple. The owner of the bike should be educated about it or locked up if he really is a nazi. Lets face it, if he is going to the trouble of customizing a motorbike he will want the images to have meaning so he will do his homework. So I would assume he is a nazi and I would be offended seeing that.

Unless he is a raving homosexual, then it is kind of OK because it is done in a camp, ironic way, but there are no clues that this is the case on the bike. I wouldn't do anything but I know at least one Jew that would attack him or at least break the bike.

It is not fashion it is a hate crime.

  3. I haven't read the replies. I used to have similar problem to a lesser degree, maybe 4-5 hours per night. Aterax is a drowsy antihistamine I used every few days which kept me asleep longer and helped me catch up a bit.

There is a lot of advice online about getting to sleep but none about waking up too early. When I had this problem I was unhappy in the place I lived (a high rise condo in Manila). Since moving to Chiang Mai I don't have the problem at all, one reason may be that I exercise every day by cycling. I have less stress here overall and I generally just feel happier about the environment.

  4. RAM was like heaven compared to Suan Dok hospital. We got a long time with an old guy who was obviously an expert, he spotted stuff a younger doc missed. He gave lots of great, un rushed advice. The price was very reasonable. I get queasy so it was nice to see free water, have aircon and comfy seating. Heaven.

Suan Dok hospital on the other hand was like hell. Young docs that disagreed with each other, horrific overnight shared rooms. It didnt feel clean, it was probably a bit cheaper but it was worth paying 5 times the price to be in RAM. I never visit hospitals so perhaps my view will change when that changes.

  5. Still not available though, so I moved on and got a phone which has awesome video, without zoom. Then will likely upgrade to a real camera next year, like the samsung NX1.

The fz1000 is almost old technology already, may as well wait a bit now if you do video and get something like the NX1 which uses the new codec H.265. Would still make a fun stills camera for the outdoors though, if it ever gets released here.

  6. I can't find this herb in small pharmacists and herbal shops, just wondering if anyone else has seen or bought it here?

    From Wikipedia:

"Rhodiola rosea (commonly golden root, rose root, roseroot, western roseroot, Aaron's rod, arctic root, king's crown, lignum rhodium, orpin rose"

This is a legal herb which may help with mood and stress.

  7. Why can't immigration here do the same as Chiang Rai immigration before they opened new facilities... Have a outreach annex in on of the malls one day a week for expatriate services like 90 day reporting and extensions... I'm sure any of the malls would provide space free of charge (KSK could provide a whole floor if needed!)...

Almost next door at the rear of Airport Plaza Mall is an enormous unused carpark next to and behind the warehouse type stores. Less than 5 minutes walk away from immigration office.

  8. I know there are mixed reviews but I am used to soggy vegetables, dry turkey and some of it being luke warm on Xmas Day. It wouldn't feel right if it was perfect.

    That is some recommendation. laugh.png

I have never eaten there before and it wasn't a review. Just wanted to make it clear that the quote from me was about home cooked xmas dinners.

  9. We went to check out the Grand View Hotel. Restaurant looks great, much better than I envisaged. For 400 it was an easy decision for Christmas Dinner. Looks like sales are very slow, so no need to rush.

I know there are mixed reviews but I am used to soggy vegetables, dry turkey and some of it being luke warm on Xmas Day. It wouldn't feel right if it was perfect. As long as they have turkey and cranberry sauce I'll be happy, especially after seeing some of the prices above.

  10. It is cheaper to fly to Vietnam than Thailand from the UK. That doesn't really make sense as Vietnam is farther away. Anyway it helped us choose Vietnam this year for the family holiday. Last year we did Phuket which was enjoyable but way too overcrowded.

Maybe it would be for the best if tourist numbers drop; to improve attitudes, space on beaches and congestion. Obviously I feel bad for any establishment owners getting caught up in the decline, but Thailand utterly dominates the SEA tourism market and there are lots of other great options worth seeing too.

  11. I've never had REALLY good pecan pie anywhere in Asia

Try the deli sandwich cafe opposite the left/north west supermarket in Mega Mall, Manila next time you are in the neighborhood. Looks just like the big one above.

Eyecatcher, what you posted looks horrible, look above for the real deal.

  12. Thanks for the warning, I was going to buy something there but will go elsewhere. Last time I used them it was for a tablet with free case. They made us wait around for 20 minutes to check the product, then the guy checking it stole the case (probably by mistake).
