Still don't get how you wife could lose such a valuable document as old passport but Asians don't place as much importance on evidence for future life. NB: my GF's two children are entitled to another citizenship but after 14 and 20 years they have zero status in that 3rd country despite being entitled to it.

Thanks. We did just that. Gave them everything I had and explained everything. From knowing me, my wife's understanding of importance of certain things is better than the rest of her family. Though they know where the house book is.  We think the family moved her passport when they've had to rearrange the contents of the house a couple of times but didn't think to put it in on their person or a safe place while they did

We did the exact same thing. My wife failed the A1 test in the Landmark Hotel in BKK. I told a friend and he said that his wife had the very same problem at the same hotel a year before so he flew her over and take the test on a holiday visa. I made the point to have my wife do the same when she came over for the first time for a holiday, meet the family etc and she passed quite significantly.

Then Covid 19 happened. When we came to reapply she took the test again at the Landmark. She failed again but they didn't explain why. I complained informing that that she had passed in the UK 2 years before and was told that they don't have to, to which I replied, what is the point of having the section for "feedback" on the form? The London test centre gave feedback but I couldn't find it as evidence to strengthen my argument for a free retest. My wife then flew over the next month, passed the test with distinction.

It's almost like the people at the Landmark are out of touch but the people in London have a better perception of what is actually required in the UK. Though writing that my mum tells me her local Tesco store is currently full of Tesco employees who tell her they "don't speak English" when she wants to ask them something so she's miffed that her daughter in law has to go through so much trouble.

It's annoying but taking the A1 test in the UK, or at the very least avoiding the Landmark Hotel is worth considering for spouse visas.

Hi. My wife submitted for her first visa to live with me 23rd June.

Over a year later from the OP, the GOV website still says it will take up to 24 weeks for a partner/spouse visa.

On Friday (21/07) we received an email from the "UK Decision Making Office" confirming it was received and being prepared for review. Effectively it was a reminder that we had 5 working days to submit any support documents.

Having never received this email before, does this mean that we have finally had some good luck and that we can expect a decision within a reasonable time after the 5 days (28/7) or does it simply mean it's moved along in the process and we may still have to wait another 20 weeks?

My wife is applying for her first visa to live with me in the UK.  Part of the application requires detailing her visits to other countries in the last 10 years.

In 2015 we visited Singapore. She has misplaced her old passport and lost the 2 paper copies we had of her passport stamp. In all her previous holiday visa applications, we included her declaration of visiting Singapore and provided proof of the stamp. I have back up of my stamp and original boarding passes.

Here's the question

Does she (A) still declare that she visited Singapore, I submit what we have, mention it in my sponsor letter and in the "Additional section" of her application write that she has lost the stamp and ask them to refer to her old holiday visa applications for evidence?

(B) Not declare the visit but explain the omission in the "additional section" (in case some eagle eyed person notices against holiday visa applications it has not been declared)?

(C) Mention nothing of the visit to Singapore in application or sponsor letter?

It wasn't my wife's first application either. We received the email today advising her passport is ready for collection. So that's 9 weeks 5 days starting from the day after submittal in BKK

The link is for visa application centres in India and selection can't be changed. How is my wife going to collect her passport in India if they have her passport? Weird.

My wife applied 24th August, when I completed the application on line it stated 2-3 weeks but I told her afterwards that because of the Ukraine situation it would definitely be longer.

A couple of days later we received the official email that, sent a link to the GOV website that then  stated 7 weeks.

27/09/22 We received an email stating "it was under consideration". That applications were taking 9-10 weeks but it would definitely take longer than 6 weeks.

I checked then and I checked earlier today, the website still says 7 weeks.

We are still waiting. It is 7 weeks today.

Weird thing was the email we received in September was sent by the UKVI office in Delhi.

It was announced towards the end of Feb that filming moved to Thailand and a few location shots appeared on social media last week.

My wife finished her quarantine today. No-one from her flight from the UK was infected.

However over the last 4 days she was contacted by 3 different Thai friends of a couple of places to avoid in Pattaya when she gets out.

Alledgedly in the last week a few people have tested positive for Covid19 outside of Pattaya but had been working in Pattaya during that week.

Well I went with Gogodoc. The call was just under 2 minutes, 1 minute of that was me answering the phone and then walking to the room where my wife was.

Originally when I enquired I asked for a video call which they said they would do and I had to write it in the notes when I made the booking but later they emailed back to say they couldn't.

My wife thought it was hilarious not just beause how quick it was but asked how did they know they were speaking to her? It could have been anyone and she could have lied about her symptoms (obviously she didn't)

The letter statement only refers to coronavirus, even though they asked my wife if she was using any medication or had any current medical issues (shes isn't and doesn't). I would have expected inclusion of something relating to this.

Additionally I believe the  statement they use is a general template, as it refers to my wife as "they" and "them", which I think they forgot to change to a singular person, particularly as they named her and dated when they spoke to her. Unfortunately they named her incorrectly in the statement, so much so that they changed her gender even though they named her correctly in the subject line. They corrected it all and resent a replacement within 10 minutes of me sending an email highlighting the errors.

Thanks, the fact that it will be 2 Thais conversing will really help but again a covid test isn't required but we will see what happens with gogodoc.

Thanks, it's for my wife not disbuting what's required. Just trying to get one without having to take a covid test as well as it's not required.

Thanks.  My first attempt was my own doctor. They said they wouldn't do anything because my wife wasn't registered (I enquired about making her a temporary patient and they said no because she would be leaving soon) and also "they didn't do it".

Hello All,

As I understand, as a Thai National my wife requires a "fit to fly" certificate for her forthcoming repatriation flight. She doesn't require a covid test.

However if she were a non Thai national, she would need both the certifcate and a negative test result.

The Royal Embassy of London provide a list of doctors.  I've lost count of how many phone calls and emails I've made these last 2 days but regardless of my explanation it appears everyone I've contacted so far is only offering a "fit to fly" after a negative covid test. 

Can anyone please advise where it is possible for her to get tested for the  "fit to fly"?

Maybe so, but under the current situation will the same number of hotels and restaurants be open for their custom next time around? I doubt that the number available will increase.

I posted back in June my findings with BA. BA was selling tickets in June for August direct flights and I asked BA for confirmation that they would be guaranteed. Two days later (25th) BA told me via twitter that all August flights had gone and the next available was September. Then 29th I finally received an email from BA stating all flights were suspended until 31st August.

I picked 2  dates at random on BA's website, ten minutes ago. 17th & 21st September.

17th BA are flying to Hong Kong, then there is an Ethiopian  airlines connecting flight to BKK.

21st BA are flying to Hong Kong, then there is an Ethopian airlines connecting flight to BKK.

It gives the impression that BA are flying once a day to Hong Kong and then it is possible to get connecting flights to BKK.

Would indicate that Ethiopian airlines are flying out of BKK, flight ET1403  tonight to Tokyo.

Without knowing the details of your girlfriend's return flight, she could leave via BA but not direct. If she hasn't already got a non direct flight might be worth you contacting BA to see if she can change to  one.

As Upnotover has already stated photos of your time together are no longer accepted. When my wife was my girlfriend she had never been on a plane before so we flew to a couple of  places in Thailand. Like yourself I would take photos in temples etc mindful that I would need proof of our relationship but now Im glad I kept all our boarding passes and electronic tickets.

Unless the receipts for the gifts actually identify that they were gifts sent to your grilfriend, I don't think they will be much help to prove your relationship.  I would send flowers to my wife on her birthday. The emails I have from the business confirm the transaction. They include her name and mobile number and I was lucky that they would take a photo of her with the flowers as proof they were delivered. Hopefully your receipts are similar?

Yesterday my wife submitted her application for her visitor visa to the UK. Thais are allowed to leave, flights are available and she will have to quarantine herself for 14 days on arrival at my place. Most countries may be unwilling to let foreigners inside but currently the UK isn't one such country. So for now I wouldn't worry too much in that respect.

Yes, some don't ensure that their partners know the driving laws when driving a car in a foreign country. So that when their partners drive on the other side of the road and kill a teenager they allow them to flee the country and only then aftewards seek diplomatic immunity.

Paragraph 1  - I agree, if they are considering employment income then there is no need for savings.

Paragraph 2 - Apologies, up until September, and then from Dec 23rd till June 12th I was employed and earning over £18,600. June 12th I was made redundant.

Paragraph 3- 12 months prior to March 2020 my annualised income was over £18,600.

However, in paragraph 2 you state that I must be employed at the time of application, which obviously I'm not. Therefore I presume her application would be rejected if all other factors remained acceptable and she did apply. Correct?

It is confusing. I guess I'm clutching at straws as my wife was set to apply in July 2019 but then the company announced redundancies. There was so much uncertainty and were supposedly no guarantees but some people were more guaranteed than others.

Hope some of you can offer some advice/thoughts or has anyone already applied for a visa to live with their spouse after having their income affected by Covid? According to the UK government website:

"If you’ve experienced a loss of income due to coronavirus, we will consider employment income for the period immediately before the loss of income due to coronavirus, provided the requirement was met for at least 6 months up to March 2020."

I've already written to the Coronavirus Immigration Help Centre (CIHQ) for clarification if the proof of income upto March negates the need to provide atleast £16K savings because it doesn't mention acceptance of proof of income, if loss of income has been caused specifically by redundancy (which has happened to me). I'm waiting on their reply. CIHQ has already sent an automated email apologising for passing the 5 working day response waiting period.

Additionally back in September 2019 I was made redundant, paid 3 months in lieu (upto and inc. November). I didn't start my new job till December 23rd. However I received an additional one off non taxable redundancy sum that was equal to  me being paid until middle of May 2020 if I still had been employed. Technically I wasn't paid by an employer for December but I had received income 3 months prior that did cover December.

Regardless of the reponse from CIHQ and assuming the rest of application is 100% correct, if my wife applies for her visa would it be rejected on account of me not receiving payment from an employer in December?

I visted there for the first time last September, very nice. I would love to go back. There were hardly any queues for the ferry. The island had already banned sales/handing out of large plastic bags. The exception was the small ones used by 7/11 after having food nuked in the microwave. Of course doesn't stop plastic bags from  being brought onto the island and littered ????

I finally received a reply to my original email from BA Customer services earlier today with an apology in delay due to the the exceptionally high demand on them during this time. At the time of posting this there is no change on CAAT's website on flights after tomorrow's deadline. The BA response was:

"our services to and from Bangkok have been suspended until 31 August 2020. It's too early for us to offer any speculation on the coronavirus situation after this date and what might be happening with our flights."
