    A. Give them everything and more. Update your sponsor letter. A good reason to digitise, save and back up all documents (I do this with GF's passport full copy, entry, exit stamps and flight boarding cards).

Still don't get how you wife could lose such a valuable document as old passport but Asians don't place as much importance on evidence for future life. NB: my GF's two children are entitled to another citizenship but after 14 and 20 years they have zero status in that 3rd country despite being entitled to it.

    I think you'll be fine.

Thanks. We did just that. Gave them everything I had and explained everything. From knowing me, my wife's understanding of importance of certain things is better than the rest of her family. Though they know where the house book is.  We think the family moved her passport when they've had to rearrange the contents of the house a couple of times but didn't think to put it in on their person or a safe place while they did

When I done this about 10 years ago my biggest issue was the English test .All the test centres seemed to only offer tests at a far higher standard then was required and I couldn’t find one that just did the A1 test .Eventually after fairly twice we did the test in the uk ( on tourist visa)

We did the exact same thing. My wife failed the A1 test in the Landmark Hotel in BKK. I told a friend and he said that his wife had the very same problem at the same hotel a year before so he flew her over and take the test on a holiday visa. I made the point to have my wife do the same when she came over for the first time for a holiday, meet the family etc and she passed quite significantly.

Then Covid 19 happened. When we came to reapply she took the test again at the Landmark. She failed again but they didn't explain why. I complained informing that that she had passed in the UK 2 years before and was told that they don't have to, to which I replied, what is the point of having the section for "feedback" on the form? The London test centre gave feedback but I couldn't find it as evidence to strengthen my argument for a free retest. My wife then flew over the next month, passed the test with distinction.

It's almost like the people at the Landmark are out of touch but the people in London have a better perception of what is actually required in the UK. Though writing that my mum tells me her local Tesco store is currently full of Tesco employees who tell her they "don't speak English" when she wants to ask them something so she's miffed that her daughter in law has to go through so much trouble.

It's annoying but taking the A1 test in the UK, or at the very least avoiding the Landmark Hotel is worth considering for spouse visas.

  3. Hi. My wife submitted for her first visa to live with me 23rd June.

Over a year later from the OP, the GOV website still says it will take up to 24 weeks for a partner/spouse visa.

On Friday (21/07) we received an email from the "UK Decision Making Office" confirming it was received and being prepared for review. Effectively it was a reminder that we had 5 working days to submit any support documents.

Having never received this email before, does this mean that we have finally had some good luck and that we can expect a decision within a reasonable time after the 5 days (28/7) or does it simply mean it's moved along in the process and we may still have to wait another 20 weeks?

    As always, thanks in advance.

  4. Hello all,

My wife is applying for her first visa to live with me in the UK.  Part of the application requires detailing her visits to other countries in the last 10 years.

In 2015 we visited Singapore. She has misplaced her old passport and lost the 2 paper copies we had of her passport stamp. In all her previous holiday visa applications, we included her declaration of visiting Singapore and provided proof of the stamp. I have back up of my stamp and original boarding passes.

    Here's the question

Does she (A) still declare that she visited Singapore, I submit what we have, mention it in my sponsor letter and in the "Additional section" of her application write that she has lost the stamp and ask them to refer to her old holiday visa applications for evidence?

    (B) Not declare the visit but explain the omission in the "additional section" (in case some eagle eyed person notices against holiday visa applications it has not been declared)?

    (C) Mention nothing of the visit to Singapore in application or sponsor letter?

As always thank you in advance for your time and help

They are processed in India .

I presumed as such, but sending the email and stating "VFS do offer an optional paid for service which permits customers to retrieve your passport whilst we continue to consider your visa application please use the link below for more information:"

The link is for visa application centres in India and selection can't be changed. How is my wife going to collect her passport in India if they have her passport? Weird.

  6. My wife applied 24th August, when I completed the application on line it stated 2-3 weeks but I told her afterwards that because of the Ukraine situation it would definitely be longer.

A couple of days later we received the official email that, sent a link to the GOV website that then  stated 7 weeks.

27/09/22 We received an email stating "it was under consideration". That applications were taking 9-10 weeks but it would definitely take longer than 6 weeks.

I checked then and I checked earlier today, the website still says 7 weeks.

We are still waiting. It is 7 weeks today.

Weird thing was the email we received in September was sent by the UKVI office in Delhi.

  7. I don't suppose anyone, who is interested in the MCU, has any more info on Disney filming MS Marvel as part of the MCU?

It was announced towards the end of Feb that filming moved to Thailand and a few location shots appeared on social media last week.

  8. My wife finished her quarantine today. No-one from her flight from the UK was infected.

However over the last 4 days she was contacted by 3 different Thai friends of a couple of places to avoid in Pattaya when she gets out.

Alledgedly in the last week a few people have tested positive for Covid19 outside of Pattaya but had been working in Pattaya during that week.

  9. Well I went with Gogodoc. The call was just under 2 minutes, 1 minute of that was me answering the phone and then walking to the room where my wife was.

Originally when I enquired I asked for a video call which they said they would do and I had to write it in the notes when I made the booking but later they emailed back to say they couldn't.

My wife thought it was hilarious not just beause how quick it was but asked how did they know they were speaking to her? It could have been anyone and she could have lied about her symptoms (obviously she didn't)

The letter statement only refers to coronavirus, even though they asked my wife if she was using any medication or had any current medical issues (shes isn't and doesn't). I would have expected inclusion of something relating to this.

Additionally I believe the  statement they use is a general template, as it refers to my wife as "they" and "them", which I think they forgot to change to a singular person, particularly as they named her and dated when they spoke to her. Unfortunately they named her incorrectly in the statement, so much so that they changed her gender even though they named her correctly in the subject line. They corrected it all and resent a replacement within 10 minutes of me sending an email highlighting the errors.

Try Dr Donna; copy of negative test normally required but worth a quick LINE/FaceBook message to see if they can accommodate a Thai (costs 400 Bht).

Contact details in this post https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1206234-travel-to-thailand/?do=findComment&comment=16263336

Thanks, the fact that it will be 2 Thais conversing will really help but again a covid test isn't required but we will see what happens with gogodoc.

you can go to there web site and download the form then get your doctor to sign it and stamp it you can also google it and there a form site there to download

Thanks.  My first attempt was my own doctor. They said they wouldn't do anything because my wife wasn't registered (I enquired about making her a temporary patient and they said no because she would be leaving soon) and also "they didn't do it".

  12. Hello All,

As I understand, as a Thai National my wife requires a "fit to fly" certificate for her forthcoming repatriation flight. She doesn't require a covid test.

However if she were a non Thai national, she would need both the certifcate and a negative test result.

The Royal Embassy of London provide a list of doctors.  I've lost count of how many phone calls and emails I've made these last 2 days but regardless of my explanation it appears everyone I've contacted so far is only offering a "fit to fly" after a negative covid test.

Can anyone please advise where it is possible for her to get tested for the  "fit to fly"?

    Many thanks in advance

Let's not forget that diplomats all over the world and do a lot of things which normal people can't do because they have diplomatic immunity.

Let's be diplomatic with those diplomats.

Yes, some don't ensure that their partners know the driving laws when driving a car in a foreign country. So that when their partners drive on the other side of the road and kill a teenager they allow them to flee the country and only then aftewards seek diplomatic immunity.

  14. I visted there for the first time last September, very nice. I would love to go back. There were hardly any queues for the ferry. The island had already banned sales/handing out of large plastic bags. The exception was the small ones used by 7/11 after having food nuked in the microwave. Of course doesn't stop plastic bags from  being brought onto the island and littered ????

  15. I finally received a reply to my original email from BA Customer services earlier today with an apology in delay due to the the exceptionally high demand on them during this time. At the time of posting this there is no change on CAAT's website on flights after tomorrow's deadline. The BA response was:

"our services to and from Bangkok have been suspended until 31 August 2020. It's too early for us to offer any speculation on the coronavirus situation after this date and what might be happening with our flights."

  16. I am aware that flights have been leaving but I was led to believe that these were only repatriation, cargo humanitarian aid flights etc etc, which many were departing whilst the visa application office was closed. By definition my wife is a Thai Citizen and her visit will be as a tourist which requires a commercial flight which are currently banned. Occasionally I have been receiving posts from the UK Embassy on my Facebook timeline about next available repatriating flights since the visa office reopened. I'm going by the "Public Announcement" page on the CAAT website. I'm hoping they will make an anouncement on Monday.

  17. You are not the only one. I’m confused as well. It reads simple but all I want to know is if I was to buy a ticket for my wife to leave Thailand in August to arrive in the UK can she leave? I will of course buy the tickets only after a successful visa application.

Her application for a holiday visa is ready to be submitted (although after 10th July I will now have to send some different paperwork) but I don’t want to either pick an appointment date as well as state the dates of her intended visit until I can get 100% confirmation that she can fly. I don’t want to lose time in the period she asks for if they keep putting the flight dates back (particually if it passes 30 days and we have to apply for a new visa) and I don’t have confidence that the start date of the visa will be valid because for her first holiday visa last year, they started it 10 days before we asked.

Two and a half weeks ago BA were selling direct flights from BKK to Heathrow for 7th August. I asked their customer service asking if they were selling flights in August with the commercial flight ban could they guarantee that they would be valid and she could fly. I waited and heard nothing. Instead I contacted them on twitter and today the response I received was the earliest flight was now September 2nd and they ignored my query concerning the travel ban. I don’t know if this is pure coincidence that the flight has sold out or BA are rescheduling because they know something, i.e. no flights until September.

However I note other airlines are selling tickets departing August 7th. Like you wrote there is the possibility that flights could keep being cancelled. We will have to wait for the CAAT to advise what will happen in 5 days. It’s been frustrating because I thought they learnt from April (where they gave 4 days notice to extend till the end of May) when in May then gave 2 weeks’ notice to extend from 1st to 30th June. Once again they seem to be leaving it to the last minute with no change of statement on their website. Fingers crossed.

  18. "In short, last December we submitted the application in a small red binder, multiple copies of evidence stapled together, each with their own "headed" section and placed in plastic sleeves."

This is your introduction to us about your situation. which left me with no idea what you were talking about. It mentions nothing of what you were applying for or in what country.

Forgive me if this is a follow on from a previous post that I am not aware of but it just struck me that when applying for anything one must make it absolutely clear what it is one is applying for.

I do hope it all works out good for you.

The clue was in the topic header. I appreciate the response, we both hope it works out too. Thank you for the post.

  19. Applying for what?

    "In short".

    Pithy, key points?

Sure you should be worried, third application!

Given what you have written, what more can really be said.

Perhaps try to get feedback on why the application failed, and then in TVF state circumstances, detail application content, and get advice on where you are going wrong. But TVF is not the best place for that.

Thank you for the thoughts and your reply. The topic was concerned with documents not being returned rather than the application itself.

I did get private feedback on the refusal letter from 2 well respected TVF members back in January. However once again my girlfriend's circumstances have changed dramatically since and the feedback will be taken and adapted to suit the changes.

  20. But did you get the visa?!

Logic tells me that the whole point of supplying a copy of your passport is that they keep it for their records. They did with mine for two VVs and one settlement visa. The same as the copy of the then GF's ID card and her passport. I don't remember anything being kept to do with financial info but I am self employed and slightly different rules apply. It wouldn’t have bothered me if things like it had been kept and it's the reason you give them copies. If you had given them copies of your P60s, maybe they wouldn’t have kept the originals. Concerned? No.

Unfortunately she didn't, as per the topic heading. All the evidence they kept of mine were copies and from reading your post and Old Git's I've come to accept that some evidence would be kept but it was the keeping of the financial items that prompted me to add the topic. Thank you for your reply.
