A few years ago, a Thai neighbour told me that there is one day a week when the traffic on Phetkasem Road heading northwards is quieter because of restrictions placed on trucks. I don't remember the day and the neighbour has now gone, but if the claim is true and if there is an easier day on which to drive, I would be grateful for the information.

In Asia an English "Teacher" can come from anywhere. A few years ago I had a conversation with a Russian woman who was teaching English at private school in Seoul, South Korea. She had an accent that was very noticeable but her grammar was excellent. Also, she was blonde, mid 30's and very attractive. I also saw a guy from somewhere in Eastern Europe who wos teaching English to kids at a Hagwon(a prep academy). This guy had no business teaching anything. His only qualification that I noticed was that he was married to a Korean woman.
So an English "Teacher" from Uganda in LOS does not seem far fetched to me.
I knew a South African who came from a rural district in the Eastern Cape and it was a struggle to understand him. It amused me to think what the little kids he taught would sound like.

I can't see it listed on AirBnB, it's on Beach Road, in a complex of individual villas called Dolphin Beach, with a condo block at the back.
Avoid the long holiday weekends, though, because then it gets very noisy.

Where I live, we used to have - before Covid - an hourly bus between Mukdahan and Khon Kaen. Sometimes it was two an hour, and there was a van service too. Now it's down to one bus a day and vans for the rest of the service.
And I've noticed that whereas Roi Et used to have three airlines serving it, it is now down to one with just three flights a day. How long can that airport even stay open?
So yes, I guess people are no longer travelling in numbers.I have to meet my wife who is arriving at Chumphon airport next week. The airport has two flights a day. I wonder what the staff do for the rest of the day.

And? If it's what you wanted and a good price with free delivery, why not buy online. And you could have checked store availability online before you went as I suggested.........twice.
True, but I had other things to do in Hua Hin.

Am no authority but it would seem that blocking airflow defeats the purpose - the idea is to have direct hot air flow on all cooking surface. Without that times will be longer and in effect becomes a normal oven.
You are right. It must defeat the purpose. The problem is how to keep the machine clean in a country where taps only have cold water. I have to boil water to clean mine.

I line mine with baking paper, easy, just throw the paper away.
That's good to know. I thought about that, but I assumed that the paper would burn.

20 Samsung watches available at Powerbuy........................
Available online, not in the shop in Hua Hin. There wasn't a single one.

Purchase one with a strong wire basket, rotary, temp and time dial. I have a Philips, and it is now on its 5th year. I also bought a silicone liner, saves a lot of cleaning of the base and wire mess. Very quick heat up time, and cooking times. I do agree with a previous poster about fries, better done in traditional away.
I also have an old Philips and I am happy to learn about silicone liners because keeping it clean has always been a bit of a problem.

I went to Hua Hin last week and found what I wanted. As I came from the south, I stopped first at Bluport, which was a big disappointment. The third floor was closed, and the other floors were very empty. My second stop was at PowerBuy, which was also a disappointment as it is really quite small. However, a young bloke there assured me that I could find whatever I wanted at Market Village, and he was right. They have an excellent selection of watches and fitness trackers, and I was able to buy a Samsung Galaxy 5 for my wife's birthday.

That is good to know. I thought that I saw that there was a PowerBuy attached to a Tops supermarket. If not, I'll just buy online.

Bluport mall might have something.
Thanks. I think that I have to take a trip to Hua Hin. PowerBuy should have what I am looking for.

There's no Central in HH, not even a Robinsons.
I personally wouldn't buy one in PKK, as quality and authenticity would be suspect. Not your choice, but without travelling, name brand store online would be the way to go IMHO
PKK not exactly heavy with tech stores
Yes, thank you. I shall forget this.

Thanks. I was hoping to avoid a trip to Hua Hin.

I would like to buy something like a FitBit watch in Prachuap so that I can measure my exercise and sleep. I realise that I can buy one online, but I would like to find a shop in Prachuap which sells them so that I can have a good look at them. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

The minimum daily wage will be 337 baht from October 1st and he is proposing to raise it to 800 baht over two terms (eight years?). Is that a radical proposal?

It is surprising to learn that no-one from the Embassy or the Chiang Mai Consulate could act as an interpreter.

What do you consider inexpensive ? I always thought the legal firms were very expensive, like a late model honda click expensive.
I had some business in the UK which required a notarized copy of my passport. Siam Legal did it for 850 baht. The work looked good and solved my problem.

You can apply for your extension of stay up 30 days early or 45 days at some offices.
Thanks for the information. 30 days gives me plenty of scope.

My permission to live here in retirement ends on 17th October and I have to apply for a renewal in Hua Hin. However, at that time I need to be in Bangkok, and I have forgotten how many weeks beforehand a person can apply for a renewal. Could someone please tell me? With thanks.

So had to start at CW with Siam Legal helping all the way to the point of assisting me to get a bank account set up. Then we were moving to the place where our home was going to be built which was in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The lad came down to Hua Hin Immigration to do the final part so I could then do 90 day reports in the province.
They also did, my then girlfriend and now wife's, visa for a visit to UK. When it was refused first time because the UK powers never read the documents fully, the girl at Siam Legal did the new application for no extra costs as she was not happy with the refusal. After a strongly worded application was made again, the visa was granted.
So, I have nothing but praise for Siam Legal and will be using them in the future when we need another visa for the wife so we can visit UK for a holiday.
I also used Siam Legal, just a few months ago, after reading a recommendation on the Bangkok local site, and i was very happy with their service. It was fast, efficient, and inexpensive.

Yes, thank you, I've seen that, but I was wondering about working days.
