  1. Huh like many things so easily fixed, half the police could be reassigned to wear no police clothes and wait for taxis, rainy days would be good, only a few days ago i saw taxis at On Nut bts refusing thai passengers 3 times the first car twice the second car in the queue.

The Police mafia ARE the problem. They have complete control.

These taxi thug gang members actually sign in every day. Every taxi gang outside every hotel pays.

A big General owns the pink taxies I was told. They are the worst.

If police didn't want criminal taxis scamming tourists, they would put the word out.

    Overnite it would stop.

  2. guys if they charge  80 baht for a bottle of water, what makes you think  that the wine and cheese would be free. They have a great location, it is owned by the Marriot, so no rent to pay, and yet they are the most expensive bar in Pattaya when they could be the cheapest. It makes no sense .

Isn't it poor form to complain about prices at a 5 star resort?

I'll bet their average Marriott guest makes $150,000 / year salary or more.

    A walk-in rate for a sea view room with breakfast = 18,750Bt.

I really think they don't want the average Pattaya slob resident traipsing thru the place.

  3. "The cabbies, he added, must use meters and must not refuse to accept Thai passengers or they will face stern action from the authorities."

So it's ok to reject non-Thai passengers? Got to say prejudice isn't hidden from sight in the LOS

I actually do think cabbies should have a choice in whether or not to accept a fare, but this policy is clearly borne out of paranoia. The perseption being foreigners are never turned down and accept the metre not being used.

If you had carefully read the entire article, you would have noted that the problem is taxi drivers rejecting thai passengers for foreign ones. Obviously, with an eye to overcharging easy marks which foreigners are more likely to be. Maybe you are being a bit over eager to feel sorry for yourself?

The article is wrong then. They reject anybody, farang or Thai that is clued up.

They are criminals posing as taxi drivers, that pay the police to troll the hotel district, looking for first time visitors to scam.

  4. What's wrong with speculation? Especially in a case like this.

    Is this structure legal?

Is a Phuket type crackdown coming to Pattaya?

Would the Army be allowed to go after this place?

(remember the sniper that shot Seh Dang used the Dusit Thani, Bangkok as a perch)

  5. SR400 now on the showroom floor in Jomtien.

    what showroom ?

The Yamaha dealer on Theprasit and the Yamaha dealer on Sukhumvit (across from Tesco) had the white SR400 on display.

The salesman said they would be delivering them in about a month.

The brochure had some nice factory accessories, including SR500 mag rims, clip-ons, turn signals etc..

  6.

Another plate observer here....MZ is right, a majority on weekends are from Bangkok.  Which makes sense, this is a holiday destination after all! 5555

Same thing happens in Hua Hin.  Massive traffic jams on the weekends.

And half the Pattaya locals are driving around with Bangkok plates... BTW Bangkok was a delight to drive in this long weekend smile.png

Major holidays indeed the best time to visit Bangkok.

  7. I recently discovered Cafe Pitini on Soi Buakhao, and would like to give them a thumbs-up. Their service is excellent, the menu is comprehensive, their fish and chips is the best I've yet found in Pattaya or Jomtien, the restaurant is enclosed with cool airconditioning, the noise level is low, there is no smoking inside, newspapers provided free, open all afternoon, definitely my kind of eating place.

    Yes. Great cafe.

    Well managed place.

  8. Wanna bet??? If they all disappeared, "missing them" is not an emotion that comes to mind -- perhaps "joy"? Actually, they should leave 2 or 3 (with large scarlet "R"s on their shirts) just so no one forgets how they behave.

And if I had a choice between the Russian lady and the fish, I'd take the fish. You probably agree, but no doubt for different reasons. At least I could eat the fish...... wink.png

They seem to take up allot of space. (especially at the buffet scrum)

The ones that speak english, I have been impressed, really. Decent people.

The younger ones are more sophisticated it seems.
