Huh like many things so easily fixed, half the police could be reassigned to wear no police clothes and wait for taxis, rainy days would be good, only a few days ago i saw taxis at On Nut bts refusing thai passengers 3 times the first car twice the second car in the queue.
The Police mafia ARE the problem. They have complete control.
These taxi thug gang members actually sign in every day. Every taxi gang outside every hotel pays.
A big General owns the pink taxies I was told. They are the worst.
If police didn't want criminal taxis scamming tourists, they would put the word out.
Overnite it would stop.

guys if they charge 80 baht for a bottle of water, what makes you think that the wine and cheese would be free. They have a great location, it is owned by the Marriot, so no rent to pay, and yet they are the most expensive bar in Pattaya when they could be the cheapest. It makes no sense .
Isn't it poor form to complain about prices at a 5 star resort?
I'll bet their average Marriott guest makes $150,000 / year salary or more.
A walk-in rate for a sea view room with breakfast = 18,750Bt.
I really think they don't want the average Pattaya
slobresident traipsing thru the place. -
"The cabbies, he added, must use meters and must not refuse to accept Thai passengers or they will face stern action from the authorities."
So it's ok to reject non-Thai passengers? Got to say prejudice isn't hidden from sight in the LOS
I actually do think cabbies should have a choice in whether or not to accept a fare, but this policy is clearly borne out of paranoia. The perseption being foreigners are never turned down and accept the metre not being used.
If you had carefully read the entire article, you would have noted that the problem is taxi drivers rejecting thai passengers for foreign ones. Obviously, with an eye to overcharging easy marks which foreigners are more likely to be. Maybe you are being a bit over eager to feel sorry for yourself?
The article is wrong then. They reject anybody, farang or Thai that is clued up.
They are criminals posing as taxi drivers, that pay the police to troll the hotel district, looking for first time visitors to scam.

Taxi thugs running Soi Nana will stop an honest taxi from picking up a fare. If an outsider taxi picks up a fare on Soi Nana, they will actually blockade the taxi, threaten the driver and force the farang out and into a their scam taxi.
These scum lease the street from the police so they feel justified and they also know the police protect them.
Welcome to the Nigeria of Asia.

Sometimes the taxi driver 'forgets' to start the meter.
I never say a thing. Not MY problem. This is gonna be fun I always think.
On the other end I hand them 35bt. And they are lucky to get that.

For years, I've stayed on Suk Soi20 and have had to pass 20 taxi scammers & trudge all the way to Sukhumvit for a taxi.
These guys actually lease the scam turf from the police.

A couple of those dogs have collars. I'd bet there's an owner nearby. They should be fined for this. Too bad city hall can't deal with this. Another loss of face!
City Hall can't even pick up the trash, how are they gonna catch a dog?
The problem is the City Hall staff. Lazy, good for nothing government workers.
The ones that steal the most and do as little as possible are the most admired.
You lose face if you make a decent effort.
The few that do care can't run the City on their own.

2 years ago, a dog came at me in this area when riding my bike. They must survive on all the garbage laying around...

How much wine & cheese do we get in the alotted time?
Can I take my own bottled water from 7-11?

How much can a seller expect to get back the for accessories? Don't most buyers prefer a stock bike?

What's wrong with speculation? Especially in a case like this.
Is this structure legal?
Is a Phuket type crackdown coming to Pattaya?
Would the Army be allowed to go after this place?
(remember the sniper that shot Seh Dang used the Dusit Thani, Bangkok as a perch)

From the moment you step off the plane to the moment just before you step back on the plane...scam scam scam. The Thais are relentless.
And it goes on in the high security area at the airport for Christ's sake.
If I was in charge I would be down there pronto with a poloygraph machine and would run the entire airport staff thru the wringer.
Next time I hear someone giving sympathy to 'all the poor Thais losing work' I will puke.

SR400 now on the showroom floor in Jomtien.
what showroom ?
The Yamaha dealer on Theprasit and the Yamaha dealer on Sukhumvit (across from Tesco) had the white SR400 on display.
The salesman said they would be delivering them in about a month.
The brochure had some nice factory accessories, including SR500 mag rims, clip-ons, turn signals etc..

Another plate observer here....MZ is right, a majority on weekends are from Bangkok. Which makes sense, this is a holiday destination after all! 5555
Same thing happens in Hua Hin. Massive traffic jams on the weekends.
And half the Pattaya locals are driving around with Bangkok plates... BTW Bangkok was a delight to drive in this long weekend
Sent from my LG-P970 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile appMajor holidays indeed the best time to visit Bangkok.

They stay any place that let's them jam 10 people into a room.

I recently discovered Cafe Pitini on Soi Buakhao, and would like to give them a thumbs-up. Their service is excellent, the menu is comprehensive, their fish and chips is the best I've yet found in Pattaya or Jomtien, the restaurant is enclosed with cool airconditioning, the noise level is low, there is no smoking inside, newspapers provided free, open all afternoon, definitely my kind of eating place.
Yes. Great cafe.
Well managed place.

I was thinking more along the lines that they are just to lazy to even go to the boring meeting and just send the wife.
The missing men are cops. They control the illegsl businesses, own the jet skis etc. and their wives, sisters manage the business.

Didn't I read somewhere that the chair vendors paid long term leases and monthly rent.
"Go back and get your lease money returned" I would tell them. And "stay off the beach!"
-
I would think a beach cleaning crew would be a routine in a beach resort?
Here, they do it every 2 years with a press release & film crew.

Of course, if they totally disappear, we're sure gonna miss 'em!

Funny Russian dating pictures:
Wanna bet??? If they all disappeared, "missing them" is not an emotion that comes to mind -- perhaps "joy"? Actually, they should leave 2 or 3 (with large scarlet "R"s on their shirts) just so no one forgets how they behave.
And if I had a choice between the Russian lady and the fish, I'd take the fish. You probably agree, but no doubt for different reasons. At least I could eat the fish......
They seem to take up allot of space. (especially at the buffet scrum)
The ones that speak english, I have been impressed, really. Decent people.
The younger ones are more sophisticated it seems.

Terrible news.
I'll have to go to youtube and watch some Mork & Mindy.

Like to pay 500bt to go 4 kilometers? Go to Patyaya.
Meter taxies in Pattaya never use a meter even though they were specifically brought in to combat the baht bus monopoly.
Funny thing, the monopoly owns both company's. Scam scam scam.
Thanks Mayor.
