I once thought the military takeover would stamp out the mafia's
I no longer believe that
Crushing political enemies is what they are up to.

Balcony railings are quite low here in Thailand .
I made many Balcony's and balustrades here in europe , height here is standard 110 cm or higher .
We make them in glass , without stainless or wooden top-rail the glass is 10mm/4 pvb safety foil / 10mm .
1 sheet of glass is "heat strengthened" the other sheet is " heat soaked" .
It's expensive , but safe , the edge is to small to sit on , does not break into pieces , impact resistand .
You'll see higher end condos and hotel balconies following international standards here; however, cheaper end ones are below international standards generally.
I've been on several balconies in Thailand with railings that felt uncomfortably low.

Newer appliances can run at 1/3 the cost of an older unit I read somewhere.

After finding some stones with an ultrasound exam, Dr Yodsak at Bangkok Pattaya hospital prescribed a compound called Uralyt-U.
Mixed with water and taken twice a day to change the PH, it attacks and prevents stones.
I drank the soultion for 2 months and the stones were not detected at the next ultrasound exam.
I plan on running this stuff thru my system for a month every year.- 1

This 'call' was used when there were no clocks or watches and the vast majority could not read the time.
The only use for this 'call' nowasays is to remind the unfaithful..
'We are here'.
Exactly. Put the followers on speed dial and yell into their phone for 2 minutes.
I'm a guest here in Thailand so I don't go around cutting wires or stuff like that but if I was back home, I'd be having a real good time.

another post removed - please keep it sensible
When I suggested a "drone strike", I was only KIDDING.
Geeez. -
An aggressive dog came at me so I stopped and tried to be nice. The dog backed off.
When I began riding away he chased me again so I stopped, picked up my bike and dropped it on the dog.
Ouch!
Never bothered me again.

A friend of mine from the USA likes to visit Thailand in the winter but he is always on a very tight budget.
Won't buy a drink, won't tip, tries to get others to pay...
Last year he had an unexpected windfall and came with some money... I thought, o good, he can finally enjoy himself a bit.... but noooo..... he stayed longer but just as cheap.

A guy in our building was very concerned his ex-wife was going to have him killed.
Not long after, over the railing he went.

Thais don't want the farang at their cultural events. They will be nice and pretend to like you though, so it's not too bad.

If the taxi drivers can't rob you on the street, they will now come to your house.
Makes sense. -
Normally I would recommend pulling the head and inspect but this is Thailand and the mechanic could screw up 10 different things during the procedure.
Sell.

I've know some army generals for over 20 years.
The small time stuff is just scraps for the police.
Remember that billionaire monk that ran off in his helicopter last year?
Insider stock market trading for the biggest of the big generals.
There is an investigation right now that is targeting staff at the stock market.
Will a generals be charged?
No way.

Is Jomtien being considered?
Soi 4 on beach road might have what you need.

"Or join the Army and get in on their scams."
Got any evidence?
(Not heresay)
Yes.

What happened to trust?
Is that a word in the Thai dictionary I wonder?

So some Thai cop says this girl had drugs.
If Thailand has a 'reasonable doubt' clause in their justice system then 99% of all prisoners could be set free as the Thai police are an organized crime syndicate.

One benefit of a new one is reliability.
The old ones are nice but how many Thai mechanics have had their paws on them?
I had a mechanic almost destroy my scooter, just changing out a tire. Stripped bolts, bolts missing, some bolts loose.
My swingarm was held on by one bolt that had backed out 50%.
Almost killed me.
I'd like a new one with Ace handle bars, a cafe seat/tank, fender eliminator, lighting, big bore, cam, valves. ECU, exhaust & air filter.
for the price of all that you could be looking at much better bikes
265/285k +Ace handle bars, a cafe seat/tank, fender eliminator, lighting, big bore, cam, valves. ECU, exhaust & air filter.
for a bike with 23 hp and 40 year old technology is a bit insane (just slightly lol )
I like to piss away a few dollars on needless toys once in a while.
Not like we're talking ferraris or vacations homes in Tahoe.

Pretty draft idea to begin with...I mean, who ever heard of a submarine sandwich and steak house before! I guess it served its purpose to launder some money or like someone said, so many tourists in town they made a mint in a couple months and retired.
Apparently the new place Subs n Steaks which replaced the closed Jomtien Sunrise Tacos is now ALSO closed!I visit to Subs n Steaks a few nights ago. Had the angus burger and a friend had an imported ribeye. We were both disappointed. Previously my burger was delicious but this visit we believe the beef had been "extended" and was not 100% beef. The paddy was huge but that doesn't make up for comprising the taste. I will give this place one last chance simply because I like the menu choices.
Condolences to the investors and staff.
And so it goes.
The owner is the former owner of Sunrise Tacos who decided to rebrand the restaurant. The concept was subs for lunch and steaks for dinner. He opened during Song Kran week, that in itself was a poor decision. Then there was an issue with the VAT, whether it was or was not included. I had several good meals when they first opened but several questionable ones just before they closed. The owner says it is a temporary closure until things improve here in Pattaya. Personally I think it's best he just sells and forgets about reopening.
The concept was sandwiches for lunch?
Well then, it would have been a good idea to open at noon.

They've dealt w/ far too many farang idiots and time-wasters already and rightly assume the worst. Get used to it. Of course, the management of the establishment can make a critical difference.
Now, it's a fun challenge to speak some Thai, joke around a bit, and turn around the whole perception--ending w/ a nice experience and favorable impression for both parties.
Pattaya is just a small part of Thailand.
Nonsense post.
I'm from a tourist town and I've been to many other tourist towns.
The customers didn't turn the staff into bitter, lazy racists.
Even in Paris they are allot nicer than the Thais.

looking back a few Posts ago, the beer swilling is where they make the real money returns from attending the buffet eh! BBT...
That might be the case but not if The DekNoi shows up.

The mess left by Yingluck?
According to Suthep, they were plotting to get rid of her before her first day on the job.
I'm really touched you zigzagging rapidly to the defense of Brucy. Especially when related to getting things done for Thaksin.
Plus of course I"m totally puzzled by people suddenly believing all politicians in general and such famous ones as Suthep tell them
You can't draw me into talking the facts.
That would be illegal.
Help! Trying to convince my wife we should stay in Thailand

Not to mention the small community of gossiping Thais in the town that will do everything in their power to wreck your relationship.
"How much do you steal from your husband every month?" was one of the first questions they asked my wife... then comes the all night card games, backstabbing bitter rivalries, the hi so mind games, etc..
