  1.

Did it occur to you to find out how and why she knows English? Only bar girls and international business executives speak English in Thailand.

Or girls who had English boyfriends.. doesn't mean they're hookers...  or college educated girls who learned in classes.....

  2. A good example of why people should rent and not buy. If you owned the place it would not be as easy for you to just move out.

Maybe if you buy a Condo in a shit hole somewhere... What working class local Thai is going to be able to rent in a place where the monthly rent is from 20,000 Baht a month and higher ? none.

The OP must be living in a total dump if he's actually renting in the same complex that a local soldier can afford.

If you can't afford to pay a measly 600 dollars a month to rent in a proper place.. then why are you complaining?

    Rent: 15,000 - 21,000 Baht

  3. Your first mistake was in believing anything that she typed or uttered.

A "good" Thai girl does not go into bars and certainly does not accept money for sex.

Were she a "good" Thai girl, your friend would have known that immediately, and perhaps to his dismay.

At 24, and using the highly dubious information she provided, and behaving in the manner which reveals true character, I would immediately suspect that she is telling lies, and is most certainly not a "good" Thai girl.

Your immature method of endeavoring to expose some kind of vague truth also tells me that you are not fit to have a "good" Thai girl and would end up in a world of hurt were you and your friend ever to cross one with these intentions in mind.

Obviously I didn't believe what she was typing...

and ya you're right... what I should have done was spent thousands of dollars and travel 10,000 miles to find out what her true character was.. instead of doing a very simple test..

    dumb ass.

  4. Then I had to show that I had a MONTHLY INCOME of 2000 euros. That is 88000 baht. Just for a 2 month tourist visa!!! When I do my yearly visa run to Penang I don't have to show anything, but then they probably have all the info on their computer. I certainly don't run around with my air ticket nor loads of cash on me.

this is what a friend of mine who is retired there told me a few days ago

But here is the very interesting thing I found out. Despite the fact that I had photo copies of my pension 1099 tax report from last year to prove I had that income coming in every month, and I had photo copies of my monthly USA bank statement showing the regular rent income coming from my rental property, and I had photo copies of other savings, etc., all showing an income stream of more than the minimum required 65,000b to show to the USA/American Embassy so they would notarize the income verification form necessary to get my visa extension at Thai Immigration..it turns out the people at the USA/American Embassy didn't even LOOK at the photo copies I'd made and prepared so diligently for proof. No, I just filled out a simple form saying I make "$blah-blah-blah income per month" (more that 65,000b in US Dollars), signed it and then they signed and stamped it as "notarized and verified by the US/American Embassy". In other words, I could have written any vaguely realistic damn dollar amount over that 65,000b per month minimum I'd wanted to put on that form and THEY WOULD HAVE SIGNED AND NOTARIZED IT. I didn't even show them my "proof". They didn't even ask for it. Just sign, stamp and approve.[/size]

Now, I suppose it is possible the guy at Thai Immigration might have asked me to show HIM the proof of that income...but he didn't. All he wanted to see was that I indeed did have the stamped verification form letter from the US/American Embassy saying that they'd seen the proof and were satisfied with it...although they hadn't. As I've asked around since that day a couple of weeks ago, I found out that every US retiree here tells the same story; the US/American Embassy will just verify and stamp whatever amount you put on that form and then the Thai Immigration will accept that verified form as proof that you've got the income. No need to put anything in a Thai bank account. No need to actually HAVE that minimum income stream coming in. Just thought that might be useful information for anyone fretting over having the proper monthly income stream or the Thai bank account deposits. Turns out in the real world, in the real Thailand, it doesn't much matter at all. Just go to the US/American Embassy, put whatever monthly income dollar amount you want on the form, they'll stamp and verify it and then take that notarized letter to Thai Immigration to extend your visa.

  5. Not having a go but.

While your learning thai and not doing visa runs all is good .

But when you've finished studying thai language .

Unless your over 50 (, retirement visa )

Your back to square one with a grasp of Thai language .

Which in all honesty can only be used in thailand.

So basically it's a break from visa runs.

You can learn Thai for 5 years... then you switch to learning German for 5 years... so you can do that for 10 years. It's 20,000 Baht for the whole year usually.
