  1. Ex-wife used to do that. Could never stop it. Insecurity drives it. Good luck with that. Eventually it damages their facial skin and they are left with a horrible complexion. The cycle has a sad ending.

  2. Are you talking about a medical certificate to renew your work permit? Don't waste your money at the big hospitals. Any cheap clinic can write one for you. I use a clinic on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Takes 15 minutes, about THB500.

If you want a real annual checkup with full blood work, Paolo Hospital has great value. Check their website. The staff doesn't speak much English, but they assign a pretty English translator to follow you around all day. You don't need appointment. Show up early morning, and print out the package you want from their website.

  3. Just because someone is good at cutting one style doesn't mean they are good at cutting all styles. Price is is only related to the cost of the shop's real estate. Getting a hair cut is the same as buying a bottle of wine. You don't know until you try.

  4. Why don't the Thais think of extra ways to make money? Hundreds of needs here that are never met...

Someone could make a killing with a lot of items just not available once you move here. Canned goods, spices, canned drinks, even candy. I buy a lot of stuff from the Villa Market, but things are very limited, and cost as much as buying and having shipped. They also have a problem, they get a stock in of things, that sell super fast, then you can't even get them special order from them.

Yep. Canned string green beans. Impossible to find. Yet, it sits on every American's dinner plate. Only see the Thai green beans here.

  5. Thailand pizza is depressing. Americans eat more pizza than any country in the world, yet it is not really considered traditional pizza. Regardless, oh how I miss Round Table Pizza. Medium cracker crust, buckets of cheese and meaty helpings. Now that's a pizza.

  6. Waste of time. These girls on dating sites have 100's of choices. They are addicted to the attention. Chances of true love are less than winning the lottery. Quality girls are not there. I have talked, met, chat, etc, with girls on these sites. They can't make up their mind. But meet girls in the malls, restaurants, etc., and you will have better luck, and better quality.

  7. Are you serious? Sunrise Tacos? That's got to be the worst Mexican food I ever had. If you are American and lived in the West, then you know Mexican food. Try La Monita if you want higher quality. As for steaks, best value and taste is Neil's Tavern. Someone said the steaks are frozen, but I could never never tell. Best I've ever had in Bangkok.

  8. Time.

Better yet, the best advice came from a Soi 7 bar girl. "Never give your whole heart. Only give half. Save the other half for you."

    Also, don't forget...

"The one who cares the least has the most control" ... or..

"In every relationship, one of you has the upper hand. Make sure it is always you"

    enough said.

  9. My experience with Thai girls has been that they are shy and dress conservative on the outside, but become sexual animals once the doors are closed. If you see sexy girls around town, it usually amounts to nothing in the bedroom. It's all show and no tell. Same with western girls and girls around the world. Remember the librarian fantasy? It's all true. Embrace their shyness and enjoy.

  10. Ouch. If you excuse the pun ;-)

Where is Paolo Hospital? And if you don't mind me asking what shots did you have and how did you get an appointment? smile.png

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Near Saphan Kwai BTS station. My shots were Hep A & B combined. Didn't need an appointment. If you've never been there before, you have to go and register, anyway. Not much English spoken there. Talk slowly.

  11. Just had mine done at Paolo Hospital. This is a cheap hospital and its still cost me a bunch. Mostly because of the cost of the shot. Hospital service was cheap. 3 shots. About 1,500B each.

  12. Thank you all for the very helpful responses. My employer currently takes care of tax deductions on my salary, and they also do my annual Thailand income tax return. So, bank interest profits outside of my salary is new to me. There are some Fixed Deposit accounts I want to take advantage of and I didn't know how to go about it correctly. Thanks again.

Sounds like the FD accounts with no tax deduction are not available to me.

  13. Since I have a work permit and Thailand employment income that is more than the minimum threshold, I must pay tax on my bank interest. Correct? Normally Fixed Deposit accounts automatically deduct the tax. What about the Fixed Deposit accounts that do not deduct any tax? How do I pay the Thailand tax for interested on the fixed account? Same question for standard bank account interest from a Thailand bank?

Second question. What is the best way to transfer large amount of money from one bank to another? Someone told me a cashier's check is the way to go. How do I do that? Should it be made out to my name? Or to the Bank it is getting transferred to?

    Much appreciated for your help.
