As a member of that "Nasty Party", I hope its an opportunity for the Centre to recapture it. Ironically, policies like this are designed to appeal to the "Red Wall"; people who vote labour.

That’s not going to happen in our time. The “centre”, those with a grain of integrity were thrown out by Johnson, all that’s left are basically thick extremists l

Define "UK indigenous folks". Born in the UK, or do you need to go back a few generations? IHS adds £1.7 billion a year to the NHS. If the policy is a complete success, then that money is taken out of the NHS.

Dentist shortages are complex. Dentists are generally self employed businessmen. They can choose to take NHS patients or not. They don't work for the NHS. The UK Dental bodies, essentially professional Unions, blocked foreign dentists by increasing language requirements, creating a shortage of dentists, because, not enough people want to become dentists. Blame them for creating a shortage. Of course supply and demand means if there is a shortage, well, they can increase their fees.

There is a contradiction of you alleging there is this huge body of illegal immigrants living under the wire, who need to be "found", but are milking the benefits system. Actually, they are probably not. They are part of the black economy, pay no tax, receive nothing in return. Their employers, likely British, are paying no tax, in illicit businesses.

Burden on the NHS. The NHS sees about 500 million patients a year; thats the number of encounters. There are many many people who have multiple contacts with the NHS, mostly elderly, like my mother who has had 17 A&E admissions in 9 months. That translates into about 17 million episodes. About 25% of the population need to use the NHS. A lot of people can go for years without being ill.

These aren't reforms just because the current government calls it that. These are policies designed to appeal to voters. I doubt they will achieve what you think they will achieve.

People living rough on the streets and eating from food banks is nothing to do with Thai wives, though some might be doing that because of what you call reforms.

This is just the dying phase of the Nasty Party trying to appeal to their lowest base in the desperate hope they can hang on to power and continue stuffing their pockets.

Actually I'm not so sure about that now having asked around quite a bit. obviously the frames are a fashion thing and vastly overpriced, also glass lenses are no longer glass but plastic but you get what you pay for, behind the lens industry is a vast network of digital machines and programmers and this industry sets the price to make a large profit, the outlets also need profit and are labour intensive, some outlets will be cheaper than others but the base costs will be similar. I have had my last pair from them for 10 years and I haven't been kind to them regarding usage but they are still serviceable. Compared to simple reading glasses bifocals are complicated products.

I was talking about being given a price of 10,000 and suddenly being told it’s 37,000. I had specs made in Cambodia at a fraction of the prices in Thailand with no loss of quality but I get mine done back home far cheaper than here.

A few days ago I went to Top C****** to get new bifocal glasses, I picked out a pair I liked, I was told they had been reduced by 50% and would cost about 10K. Yesterday I went and got measured up for them (eye check etc). all the forms were filled out, a last check to how they sit. "How much will this be"

          "37,880 Baht they've been reduced 30%"

"What!! You told me they had been reduced by 50% and would cost 10,000 Baht"

I received wide eyes and a beautiful smile as an answer.

    I ordered them anyway.

You definitely need those glasses, they saw you coming but you didn’t see them.

I got bit a few days ago in Udon by a dog .

I immediately went and got rabies vaccine and have since had the second jab.

However the internet says I also need a shot of immunoglobulin but I can’t find any mention of this in relation to Thailand .

Does anyone know what the protocol is here and if there is anywhere I can get a shot of it ? Will travel to bangkok if necessary .

My friend was accidentally nipped while feeding a Soi dog we know well and the tooth went into the nail cuticle. He went to the Red Cross in BKK the next day and was given immunoglobulin plus the first of 5 injections over a period of about a month.

I decided to get vaccinated too because it’s just 2 injections a few weeks apart and it covers you for life. Should you get bitten it’s just a single booster shot.
The Red Cross are amazing and very inexpensive.

Because in my previous post I mentioned that I live here since almost 30 years.

With work permit it was easy to open a bank account decades ago and it is still easy.

With a work permit perhaps, try getting one if you don’t work. Personally I had no issues getting 5 different banks, but that was quite some time ago. The landscape is very different now.
