But the food sucks.
Why eat delicious Thai food when you can eat eggs with fully-grown chicks in them.? Just in time for Halloween, too!

I saw outgoing PM Prayut polishing the gun turret on his tank.
The old guard are not out of options yet...
-
And now he has everyone from regular Thais to old-fart AN readers talking about him, driving traffic to YouTube and notching up a few thousand more subscribers.
That should get him from his current 13.3 million subscribers to around 15 million...plus a nice chunk of extra ad revenue.
Well done, "my mate," - excellent publicity stunt!

Absolutely...although I think #3 will be the straw that break's the elephant's back. Look what happened to Big Joke when he tried to end corruption. Can't take away all those special brown envelopes...

I'll take a wild guess here, he's donating this money to the poor and needy of Thailand and engaged in charity work in Pattaya waling street.
Thanks, I think you've nailed it! I was baffled as to what the explanation could possibly be.

Well, at least the familiar old times are back. All we need now is a coup, so we know for sure the Land of Smiles has bounced back with a big, cheesy grin.

Shocking. This must be the first time something like this has ever happened.

To cheer himself up, he should go to the nearest bar and get legless. After all, he's half way there already.

Well, I dug down the back of the sofa and found 100 million baht I had forgotten about. Now I just have to decide where to invest it:
Option #1: tie it all up for ten years so I can buy 1 rai of jungle in the sticks
Option #2: send it to the Nigerian prince who is offering big rewards in return for a little financial help
Difficult choice, but I'm leaning towards #2 as the safer and wiser investment.
Thoughts?

It's an EGGSciting story, that's for sure. Of course, no-one should be EGGSempt from justice, so I EGGSpect them both to be charged. No doubt the real driver is guilty of EGGSessive drinking, so should get an EGGStra-long sentence.

The biggest problem is vacationing farangs crashing motorbikes while driving drunk and/or without a valid motorbike license.
I think they will pay their 300 baht, only to find that one of the above invalidates their insurance. So the GoFundMe campaigns will continue.

the money is already with them in USD but they keep postponing to transfer to my Thai bank, and days after still haven't !
Of course, you first have to convert into THB in your Wise account, then initiate the transfer to your Thai bank. Otherwise it will sit there forever.

I understand that as an ageing ex-pat Brit, my official role on this forum is to be a 'whinging pom,' and complain about everything on principle.
But perhaps you'll forgive me for sounding an optimistic note, probably inspired by England's glorious 4-0 win overnight (yes, football really is coming home this time).
We live in ASEAN, and the time is NOW (although I'm reading the time from my Windows 10 computer, so that may be inaccurate). Therefore, the new name makes sense to me.
Looking in the Wayback Machine, I see that the original version of ThaiVisa was focused only on Thai visas, so the name made sense:
https://web.archive.org/web/19990125103818/http://www.thaivisa.com/
Over time, the forum outgrew the name. Now it's growing to a new stage, and has a new name to reflect the growth...that's a good thing!
Living in Thailand is awesome, being in the heart of South-East Asia doubly so. This is a wonderful, fascinating and fast-changing region, and we should celebrate being part of it. So good luck to ASEAN NOW and all the expats who sail on her.
Like Rooster, my journey to manhood began with the discovery of a discarded Penthouse magazine and all the wonders therein. It was my guide to an exotic and exciting new world.
I hope that ASEAN NOW will be my guide to the exotic and exciting world of South-East Asia.
Am I an optimist? Sure! After all, "30 years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming." Go Harry Kane!

This is great news! I live right next to the park and cycle there every day.
Over the last year, they have really ramped up the development activity, but it wasn't clear what the outcome would be. To know that the whole thing is going to be a big park is fantastic.
They've already done a great job on the smaller area that is currently open as a cycling route (adjacent to the lake area). Possibly the most overstaffed park on the planet, with gardeners and security guards everywhere, but very green and pleasant.
If they take the same approach with the rest of the development, this will be a real oasis in the center of BKK - great job!

I love living in Thailand, but I hate dealing with the bureaucracy here. I have better things to do than sit around for hours in the immigration office, only to be sent away again to find some obscure document or other. So for that reason alone, I find using an agent much the better option.
Speedy Visa in Pattaya have done my renewals for the last five years, and I have always been happy with the return on the additional investment. The renewal is done quickly (together with my multiple entry visa), without fuss, and I never have to set foot in an immigration office. That suits me just fine!
I came to Thailand for an easier life, and working with an efficient agent helps to smooth out the few remaining wrinkles.

Doing what?
Selling on Amazon, blogging, selling digital courses, doing SEO consultancy, affiliate marketing, running Shopify stores, and a whole lot more. As a online marketer myself, I have dozens of friends in Thailand who make a good to outstanding living online.
There are many options - just talk to members of the thriving digital nomad community in Chiang Mai. This is a great time to start a new life in Thailand!

OP, ignore the nay-sayers and negative threads (Thai Visa specializes in those). Just go for it, and there is a very high chance you will love it here.
I moved to Thailand four years ago, and you would have to drag me screaming to get me back to the Western World. I also make a decent living online, and I live like a king here on that money here. If you are open to having an adventure, Thailand is a great destination.
Of course, life in Thailand has its downsides, the same as anywhere else. There will be some things you love, and some things you hate. Maybe the things you hate will send you scuttling back home like the 'Leaving after 13 Years' guy. That's OK - at least you will have done something exotic and interesting for a while. But there is a very high chance that you will deal with the downsides and find that they are far outweighed by the advantages.
Thailand = beautiful, tropical beaches + beautiful and welcoming ladies + a low cost of living + a lot of ways to have fun + a different way of life + the chance to live in the heart of Asia where East meets West
The equation works for me. You will probably find it works for you, too. There's no downside for you - it's not like you have to quit your job or anything...so give it a go. You won't regret it.
See you on the beach (with a couple of lovely ladies on your arms)!

There are plenty of scams and risks, for sure. But it also seems certain that Blockchain technology is going to change the future of finance. So there is a lot of money to be made if you pick solid coins that solve a real problem and have good tech and good teams.
If you take a Warren Buffet-style research-then-buy-and-hold 'value investing' approach (rather than randomly speculating), you could do very well in the long term. But if you do make money, keep the good news to yourself and make your security bomb-proof, or you could lose it all like this:

I try not to be pedantic about grammar, but I do think saying "I would of, could of or should of" should result in a long jail sentence.
