  1. Thailand is Tesco's second largest market, their largest just suffered a 93% decrease in profit and is being hammered by the discount stores in the UK. Tescos , IF they sell will sell to strengthen their UK operation not because CP who are not anywhere near as strong pressure them. Comparing CP to Tesco (even in current plight) is like comparing oppo to Apple.

  2. No matter how hard I try I cannot get Taro twice in a row, pueck or however it's spelled. I can get it once , then when I try to say it again my wife just cracks up and says I got it right then wrong. Any word with the ng sound as well stumps me. Looking forward to AEC when English becomes more widespread as I've tried Thai and believe I'll master it by age 60- Shame I'm only 35.

  3. lol never been scammed in 36 years? just stop it. of course you been scammed. "wits" or not, someone can get you. this is what the op comes off as...a scam could never happen to someone like himself as hes smarter than everyone else. obviously a total lying troll meant to get the tv community riled up.

But what is a scam? For me a scam is having something dishonestly taken from you by means of deception. Is paying 150thb for a taxi that you know on meter would only be 50thb?? Not in my opinion. If you're willing to part with something or don't care about the odd 20thb here and there then it isn't a scam. For those who think it is I hope if you own an Apple product you can see the irony as they're the biggest "marketing" scammers going.

the luck of people like OP is total oblivion so even when they do get scammed, they do not even know it.

Or maybe you're just an old cynic who thinks he's being scammed all the time. Why live in this country if you think you're being scammed constantly, or were you the same cynic back in your nation of birth?

If this is true it is terrible.

Having said that the blood looks fake to me.

It is too bright red to be real.

Also if he was hit with iron bars on the head he would not be standing.

I call this a staged event until I see the xrays.

Surely they'd be mass swelling as well if he'd been battered by iron bars, and the blood like you say seems far too red to be real.

  6. I said it before and I'll say it again.

Poor and useless people are just that, dependable and always requiring help.

That is why the world is not balanced. We would imagine the rich successful people could "share " the wealth with the poor, and the world would be a happy place.

NOT. Those who require help will always require help regardless of how much help they receive.

Personally, I only help those who are unfortunate in my eyes, but still never ask for help.

  7. Must be a big crackdown from top to bottom. Got stopped on Saturday morning on Suk road while riding on the back of a moped taxi, they searched my socks, coin pocket everywhere I guess drugs get stored- first search in 3 years of living here and regularly going home at 5-6am.Wasn't too bad except the fact I was so drunk the stop and search started by me getting my leg caught on the bike seat hand rail thus causing me to do a great turtle on his back impression at 5.45 on Sukhumvit Road.....think a dtox is in order.

What's wrong with commercials on the BTS? Better than looking at graffiti or the dirt on the London Underground. Strange, but very "farang" thing to moan about.

What is wrong with complaining about it?

You pay to use the BTS to get from A to B. Why do you have to accept being accosted by advertising on your journey?

Because it's a ridiculous thing to complain about. If you think you're being "accosted" by video advertising, Asia is no place for you.

I find your attitude ridiculous. If you think complaining about things is ridiculous then the Thaivisa forum is no place for you.

And if people don't like advertising on the BTS then getting the BTS is no place for them. There's a big difference between complaining about corrupt police, bad traffic and rip off taxis and something so trivial as advertising on public transport which costs about a quarter of what it does in the UK. Some people on here must have really sad lives.

  9. Isn't it interesting how so many posts tell us more about the state of mind of the poster rather than about the topic being dicussed?

Totally agree, There are some very unhappy individuals on here. I wonder if they realise making cynical and negative comments on an uplifting story won't improve their mood long term. They should have a sign outside of Suvarnabhumi saying "welcome to the land of smiles.....and cynical Westerners on Thai visa"

  10. 3 year overstay, and then people wonder and complain why immigration are clamping down. Another example of why what is happening, is happening. These are the people that are making it difficult for the people who do want to stay here and live by the rules.

What nonsense. I see this kind of post all the time from people on here. This point is a ridiculous one for 3 reasons :

    1. Suggesting there is a link between illegal overstayers and visa legislation in this country is crazy. Are you really suggesting Thai politicians and civil servants are all sitting around saying to eachother "well if we just didnt have any overstayers then we would reform our visa rules".....lol. I dont think so. You are giving them way too much credit by suggesting they know better but just arent doing it because some people overstay. Overstayers surely dont count for anymore than lets say 5% of immigration here (Western I mean). Are you suggesting Thai officials base their whole immigration policy around such a small percentage of people breaking it. Well i hope not and dont think so anyway.

    2. What country doesn't have overstayers ?!............ are we suggesting that visa rules can only be reformed in a country if/when there are no overstayers. If on that basis then no country would ever change their immigration policies because there will always be overstayers.

    3. An overstayer has very little negative impact on the Thai state. There is no social system here, if you live here then you pay for everything. Pretty much only the roads you walk on could count. Even from a visa side of things....compared with actually getting visas an overstayer would have to be here maybe 2 - 3 years before the 20,000 that will eventually pay in fines is less then the equivalent visas they should of got. While overstaying or even not overstaying a foreigner cannot take anything away from a Thai national or the Thai state. if someone overstays lets say 1 year then the Thai state is still up in regards to money. The only negative possibility is if we are talking pure morals and principle.

Saying things like "These are the people that are making it difficult for the people who do want to stay here and live by the rules" sounds all good but I invite anyone to actually think does it really make it harder or perhaps there are other reasons. By suggesting such a small percentage of people are spoiling it for everyone lets Thai officials off the hook too easy.

    End of speech...lol

They are suggesting that constantly here, yes smile.png They blindly repeat propagnada, because they hope it will give them a higher standing somehow for doing so. And a lot of them tend to be older people with right wing views from back home, as well. The UK is no stranger to irrationally blaming their problems on Muslims, for example. The crackdown is completely related to the coup, politically - it attempts to blame the huge, historical problems that Thailand faces (which caused the violence to errupt in recent years), onto westerners. The problem isn't a crushing class system, complete lack of education or oppotunities, no social system, etc - the problem is the 'evil westerners' who don't have the right tourist visa. Next, the problem will be any foriengers remaining after that. What they really hope, is that if poor Thais have no one else to compare themselves to in their daily lives, that they will be more subservient again. If they could get rid of the internet in general, they would do that too. And yeah, most of these guys here aren't very aware of history or politics - they just see Thailand as a place for cheap beer and bar girls. They've 'earned' it, they say a lot.

What complete nonsense. I guess you don't have a valid visa or do visa runs do you? The laws have been too lax for too long and quite rightly they're tightening them. I have a valid visa, it's not easy but it's only once a year so why should some think they're above following the laws of this country?? Typical Westerner arrogance is what I come up with.
