  1. It is a condition of entry into Thailand that you have a ticket out of the country, a return ticket is the normal way to satisfy this requirement. That airlines servicing the Russian market are cancelling flights says a lot of their expectations of recouping costs. A state sponsored repatriation flight is often the norm in these sort of situations, unfortunately those who could make the needed decisions are focused on other events. Those stuck in Thailand are suffering a number of issues beyond their control, they cannot get access to their funds, their currency has become almost worthless and no one wants to take them home. All caused by decisions made by those in power. I hope they remember this when they get home.
  2. Nobody bothered to check? ???? This is pretty basic stuff, lots of rules about exporting technology. Must have been some impressive sales presentation.
  3. I don't suppose anyone has proposed a survey of the length of the pipe to check its condition from end to end? This would be useful to determine if the leaks were from marine damage, poor maintenance or external forces.
  4. There are millions in the south that will not have that problem. Their biggest problem is to get permission to leave the "temporary" control area. This could in fact do a lot of good for the south if they see a path to getting ahead, it may reduce the radicalisation and independence pathway. If the Generals allow it.
  5. The trick might be to actually do something, rather than talking about it.
  6. Why not call in the experts from the tiger temple/zoo? They could rehouse the miscreant. Oh wait ...... Maybe there is another place.
  7. Heaven forbid that Prayut has to actually get elected in order to become PM.
  8. It depends how they arrive in the country. Are you referring to those who arrive legally to work legally? Or the majority?
  9. This sounds a very familiar line. I wonder if they have a script in the training manual? It will be just after the section on how to reduce local thugs killing each other.
  10. Must be an election in the offing,. With all the people abandoning the government parties and setting up their own party, I think it is so they can say "Look! Not me!" . Now, now be nice to the poor man. The court said that because it did not happen Thailand he is still allowed to be an MP. I wonder how his case against the Sydney Morning Herald for printing the court documents is going. Not heard much on that front.
  11. I suspect most of the main players in this opera have died. This allows their successors a chance to do the "not me" dance.
  12. Dissolve parliament; God no, you can't predict what large numbers of people will do, let alone how they will vote. Want to keep job. Reshuffle Cabinet; God no. Want to keep job, upsetting the enforcers makes this difficult, you never know how they will vote.
  13. More effective would be if the DPM Toad ordered that the existing laws and fines be enforced without fear or favour. Remember the points system has kicked in too. Even offer an extra % for the officers issuing the fines. Or bonus % for red plated expensive/luxury vehicles. I know I'm dreaming.
  14. Even if the Chinese government would let the great unwashed out of the country, do these vendors and the Thai government really think they will prepared to go through the ever changing rules and regulations the Thai government comes up with? There are so many other places with so much easier and stable entry requirements.
  15. Given the xenophobic nature of Thai politics, this proposition has little to no chance of getting past the cabinet no matter what the PM would like to think. The other unspoken thing to realise is this proposition would require a change to the national anthem.
  16. This should help reduce the number inter-college fights on the streets. Can't wait for the Thai youths to encounter the Saudi authorities as they try on their entitled attitudes.
  17. Not sure what is more pathetic; A 3 year old being sent to school, or the poor little tacker getting COVID. I will take internet authority and assume he got it at school.
  18. Well the BMA will be happy, they have been trying to clear the footpaths for years with little success.
  19. One way of preventing people getting hit at a pedestrian crossing. Another would be to install the warning devices listed as missing in the article and then enforce the law without fear or favour.
  20. In other words, if they don't do as they are told next time someone challenges Thammanat's position in parliament, the court will decide that his Australian conviction for drug smuggling will affect his ability to sit in parliament.
  21. Yet another "Look over there!" action. Even the courts are as cynical we are.
  22. If the government bans exports before the customer countries ban imports to avoid the diseases, the locals will be expected to pay the export price which will cause some angst amongst the populace.
  23. Someone needs to explain to the honourable minister that "quality" tourists need surety of process. Their limited relaxation time is valuable to them. Constant changing of the rules ensure cancelations of bookings and a different "quality" destination on the list for the next booking.
