  1. I have braces on right now which was fitted in my home country. Now that I moved here in Bangkok I want to continue the treatment in the city. Went to a few clinics but only one of them can continue what I already have but the catch is the orthodontist only comes in the clinic once a month. From previous experiences, I had minor accidents with my braces like the brackets falling off or wire breaking or coming off that I need to see the dentist immediately so having a once a month dentist is not really good for me. The others wanted to take my braces and replace it with their new braces and start from scratch again.

I just want to continue what I have now. Is it possible here? I have the release form/certificate from my previous orthodontist. Anyone here knows an orthodontist that can do what I want done? Thanks

  2. Does any one knows a laser hair removal place for guys' private parts? Went to Natasa Clinic on Thonglor but they don't do guys' private parts as their skin is apparently thinner than girls. They mentioned that no other clinic would do what we wanted to be done.

Is this true? Any guys here who have tried it? If so, where?

    Thanks

  3. Why are you buying the iPhone 6 in the first place? The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 leaves the iPhone standing with it's far superior display (it's the thing u look at most) The camera on the Note 4 is twice the resolution and to top it all its 10000 baht cheaper. The phone is a fantastic design. You should check out all the reviews before u buy... you will then see what I mean.

I was an iphone user before but then switch to samsung galaxy note 2. The phone was working perfectly well for almost 2 years until the last update. And now all the note 2 is giving me is pain in the ass. I have had it fix twice already. First after the update (kitkat) the phone's battery slowly deteriorate. And then suddenly it went dead and wont turn off anymore. Second the sim is not recognised anymore. So I just simply give up. And with all the hundreds of Samsung models to choose from? I won't bother giving myself a headache deciding what to choose. So now I decided to go back to iphone as my previous iphones (2g and 3gs) are still perfectly working until now.

Hope that explains why I am buying an iphone 6. biggrin.png

  4. I was thinking of buying one online but I haven't tried it before so I'm not so sure about its safety and reliability. And also one reason I wanted to buy online is so I could buy the additional warranty but when I look there is no option in buying that.

Anyone here experience buying a phone and additional warranty online? Which is better buying online or going to the shop and buy it from there?

  5. Harry Potter is the obvious recommendation, but he's probably seen the movies.

Yeah Harry Potter would be a good read. Even if he has seen the movies its still pretty good to read the books. A lot of things in the books never happened in the movies same as some things that happened in the movies are not in the books. :-)

He might also like another series from Rick Riordan, The Kane Chronicles.

  6. I did all the suggestions above. Power off, removed battery and sim for an hour to no avail. Went to AIS last night and they cannot do anything. Taken it to a phone shop today and the guy said something is wrong where the sim is placed as even other sims from other network doesn't work. The guy will to fix it for 1500 baht. Not sure if I did the right thing but not having a phone in a foreign country is not what I wanted.

  7. Im using samsung galaxy note 2 and been using AIS Travellers sim for the last 2 months. Last week I went to Laos for a week and came back today. When I got to Nong Khai border around 2:30pm I was still able to use my phone's mobile data and I was still able to text and call. I then turned my phone off to save battery as I was still on the bus. After getting to Udon Thani around 3-3:30pm that's when the phone stops working. I tried putting another sim and same problem.

Anyone who experienced this? Were you able to solve it? If so, how?

  8. Ie. no need to leave Thailand after first 30 days are due?

If you intend to stay longer than 30 days it's better that you get a tourist visa in first place.

Reason is that a visa cost less than the extension at 1,900 Bt and saves you a potential long wait at immigration in Thailand that is not fun.

but visa exempt stamp at airport is free, am I correct?

he live in country with no thai embassy, so difficult to apply tourist visa before arrive to Thailand.

Yes visa exempt stamp is free.

  9. I will head to market village tomorrow at opening time to reserve one, unfortunately I'll be out of the country (in Laos) from the 28th October to the 5th November. I wonder if they could just keep me one? Otherwise I guess they'll be sold out for weeks.

Was hoping to get one on the 31st, but I remember last year that the shops in Hua Hin didn't have any on the launch day anyway it was a few days later.

I would have thought apple thailand would have had a pre order form on their website .

Bit to much to ask I suppose .

I am currently in Laos and will be going back to Bangkok on the 25th. Do the authorised stores accept reservations? Where can I go to reserve one? My samsung note 2 is giving up on me pretty soon just after 2 years. I've been waiting to go back to iphone again.

why wait, simply get one sent in from another country. I've had my iPhone 6, white and silver, 64gig for 2 weeks now, no problems at all. Cost was 28500 baht in total.

Where did you order it from? I check the Apple Hongkong and Singapore online store but still not available for delivery. And what about the warranty? Im waiting for it to be available in Thailand because of the warranty. I will be spending most of my time in Bangkok so having a warranty that works in Bangkok would be ideal for me.

  11. I will be travelling to Vientiane by train next week to get my double-entry visa. This will be my first time in Laos and also my first to be on a long hour train ride. So my knowledge on what the train will be like, where to get the ticket, and what to expect on the ride is very limited to only what I read on the internet. I know a lot of members here have already tried this adventure. biggrin.png Would you mind sharing your experiences?

Any tips? What to do and not to do? Where to get the ticket. What to bring? What to expect? How can I get from point A (Bangkok) to point B (Vientiane) with not so much trouble? And of course what to expect/what to do/what not to do at the border (in terms of immigration) ?

    Thanks.

  12. They do not ask for tickets out of the country.

All you will need is your passport (copy of photo page) and a completed application form with 2 photos attached to it and the 2000 baht fee.

Thanks ubonjoe. I have another question and sorry if this is not much related to the above. If I decide to extend my first entry to another 30 days, will I need an outgoing ticket to show the immigration officers for that? Thanks very much.

  13. I know many questions have been posted in here about this but I'm getting more confused the more I read. I will be applying for a double-entry tourist visa in Vientiane next week and it will be my first. Do I need an outgoing ticket for my application? If so, how many? I ask this because I still can't decide whether to leave the country before my first 60 days finished or if I'll extend for another 30 days. And also do I need to show bank statements as proof of funds?

    Thanks.

Welcome to the "..how to make my life complicated.." club.

All complications regarding this kind of crap ceased when we (my Thai wife and I) got married and she adopted my family name.

Bet you had other crap instead.....

Well problem solved. I broke up. Enough ladies in Thailand.

You broke up with her because you couldn't get her a visa? Now I'm glad she was denied. Yikes!

  15. You may have a bigger problem with Philippines immigration allowing her to leave

That is exactly my point! She left without too much hassle 2 times, but then not extended the 30 days allowance. Note with the new extension rule, this should not be a problem, but we know all Philippine immigration and when you give them an opportunity to refuse!

If she already got out of the country twice as a tourist she will have more chance of not having problems with the immigration. I think better not to apply a tourist visa in the Philippines as for Filipinos getting a tourist visa is not that easy unless you can show them proof of funds (meaning lots of funds). Just do what I did, get a return ticket which is not more than 2 weeks (meaning she will be coming back to Philippines in two weeks time or less) that way the officers will really think she is a tourist, and bring bank statements (if she has some), and hotel booking. It will be more expensive coz I have to change my booking if I want to stay longer but if it means not getting problems with immigration then its worth it. And this way there is no need to provide any of your documents coz providing them will just make things even more complicated. And tell her to be confident. If she has done this twice then I'm sure she kind of already knows what it is like.

  16. I am a Filipina and been in and out of the country as tourist and I am currently in Bangkok as a tourist. I never had a problem with the immigration pulling me out and not allowing me to leave the country. Although sometimes if Im unlucky and get a not-in-the-mood IO then I get to answer a lot of questions. Based on experience and what I observed, the immigration officers sometimes look at the way the girls dress up and how they present themselves. Meaning when they see a girl wearing a bit revealing clothes (especially when they are with a foreigner) and looking nervous they are more likely to be pulled out. When they see a girl who looks like they have money (more class as what others said) and looking more confident and specially if they can speak English then they are more likely ignored and are allowed to go out of the country. Its unfortunate but that's how I see it works. My advice would be tell your gf to answer the officers questions directly. And only answer what they are asking. And of course if she is travelling as a tourist show proofs that she really is. Plane ticket back to Philippines, hotel bookings, and most especially proof of funds (bank statements, payslips, etc). If she is travelling with you, make sure the two of you really know each other coz you will be for sure grilled with questions and make sure your answers match. Goodluck :-)
