As a long time tourist I can safely say the country is now poor value destination.Many nice hotels but I'm general are falling apart and 4 star are3 etc.Vietnam is far better in all aspects and tourists are going there in big numbers.Why are tourists eating cheese tastiest at 7/11?Why would I want to go back to see fat ass bargirls covered in tattoos and high as kits.The word I been using lately is attitude and this has created in to the Thai culture

Now this a turn up farang stealing from a Thai wife. Normally the foot is on the other shoe. This is happening every day Farangs getting scammed and it is not nice feeling. I must admit some are just stupid others not smart. An old friend years ago was working in mining in West Australian and flying back and forth to Thailand. When he retired, he had to live in Australia for 12 months or wherever he needed to get a pension. Nowhere to go no house in Australia no money as Miss Issan was spending as fast as his salary came and all of a sudden, he no good. He decided to end his life so sad. The land of smiles and Crocodile tears beware.

Since when has it become a big deal to overstay your visa?Rules are constantly changing so need to be alert of the changes. Old days 50 baht a day for over stays.In saying that in the 70s one budha stick could land you 12 months in those <deleted> hole prisons.Now legal dope stores every 20 meters.

Years ago in Chang Rai sitting in a bar with a Brit and American 3 girls came over asked for lady drinks we told them not interested.When we go bin lady drinks on bill.Same big fight was about to start but GI got bin threw it on the ground and said let's go.Ask Bob what happened as some of these whores can be violent.

I am not defending Thai taxi drivers because in general they are all <deleted>. The use a Bolt app so know exactly what the fare will be. Am I correct in saying that? How would they think the taxi driver takes them to to the supermarket for free? Why did they not go inside the hotel and ask to change money there? The whole saga sounds suss. I personally would not get into a taxi without knowing I had enough money. I had my share of dramas with Thai taxis at airports. Bangkok tried to introduce the 50 baht booking fee but that just adds 50 baht and in most cases the argument start because they refuse to use meters. These days I use Bell to Pattaya and if I am going to Bangkok use skytrain.Last time I was in Phuket it was a fixed fare .

Well Thailand Tourism think they will save the tourist industry.I have encounter sure groups in hotels and breakfast is a shamble with groups walking around eating with hands flicking rice everywhere,talking loud and not follow instructions.

You will need 6000 baht per month in a vary ordinary unit.I guess you can find cheaper in provinces.The answer is no way.

It has been happening for years with the (Farang)Westerner not even knowing she is married. She will travel overseas and stay permanently if life and money is good. Thai husband does not care if money keeps coming and most cases new house.Thai husband finds new girl friend.

That is the tourist the Thai Government is targeting.The Western guys were giving Pattaya a bad image so here we go was Chinese to save the tourist image now the Indians. Fact is Thailand is to expensive poor service stupid taxes on wines and Western foods.

I think we use to pay a departure tax and maybe an entrance tax which was added to your airline ticket. Later it was all scrapped and looks like a new 300 Bhat tax.Not a big deal but seems like a desperate measure. Thailand is no longer a cheap destination and adding more taxes makes it less attractive. I like the idea of adding the fee to the ticket or better still just forget about it.

Oh well another Farang who has not read Private Dancer.The book should be made compulsory for any Farang going to Thailand. After spending a long time in Thailand always on short term visas I have seen and read and still read about these scams.300000 Baht is a lot of money but my friend lost about 1 Million Dollars on what I call a scam in Thailand and when the last Dollar was spent she was gone. You can take the horse to water but you cannot make him drink People are always offing advise on these matters but you always think oh no my girlfriend is different. We Western people find it strange that a women there will marry a farang when she has a husband in the village.In some cases relocate to a Western Countries with husband number 2 or 3 while her husband is in the village drinking and partying on money sent each month from wife. I could write 10 books on the topic and all true stories.

Daddy looks a little scruffy but money talks in Thailand. A couple of million for Buddha and a few Million for chiefs Christmas party will help a lot. Million I mean Euros .

The police refuse to do anything about vehicles running lights and here in Pattaya they seem to increase speed at the red lights.Now I am talking about a set of lights directly opposite the police station. Motor bikes are worse and think their skills are so good that they can go around the pedestrians and in most cases yes but somethimes things go terribly wrong.

I think the Government was thinking the Chinese and Indian tourist are better value and hence Western tourist have dropped of. I stay in Pattaya or Jomtein and all the hotels are overrun with those tourists who have no consideration for the way we think people should behave.My wife is Chinese and she even hates going to Thailand. Once my Dental treatment is complete we will not be going back in the near future.Something I did not mention it is no longer a cheap destination and many hotels have failed to keep up maintenance. Last hotel in Jomtein we changed rooms 4 times due to sewerage smells. To the hotels credit they kept changing us rooms but the fact is a 4 star hotel should be better.
