  1. Writing as someone who's 25 living in Pattaya

The market for young people in the UK looks pittifuly bleak these days, in my experiance baby boomers have no clue about melenials experiences.

Things like a job for life, company benefifs, buy to let property (even owning your own house) are pretty much out of reach even if you work for a couple of decades.

The other worrying thing is high and professions such as a pilot or a doctor actually now pay less compared to some blue collar jobs when you factor in the cost of education and lost earnings.

My advice for young people, if you have any sort of inheritance or savings you come to aquire, invest it to give yourself at least 75'000 a month income, come and live in Thailand or somewhere with less problematic visa requirements

  2. You have to pay to sit with the girls.

That's the way go gos work.

    You were effectively shoplifting.

Yes I understand that and I wouldn't waste the girls time but I did say I wasn't ready as I had just got in and wanted to have a look first!

One time I really liked this girl but she was taken by another customer.

The memasan says just take that girl she available points to this land whale of a girl in the corner and says there all the same.

I'm askwd her if an I Phone the same as Samsung? =P

  3. Also I was in a Go Go once in walking street, I wanted to have a look over a few beers. Maybe buy one of the girls a drink.

The place had very few customers in (maybe 4 at best and this was a big go go)

Anyway one of the girls wanted to sit with me, I thanked her but said I wasn't ready to by anyone a drink yet.

She spoke very good English and said she was bored so could she sit and talk, specific my age wanted to ask about getting a visa for the UK and we're there many Thais workeing there. I was more then happy to try answer her questions.

Anyway 5 minuets later the Mumasan comes over and said in no unaertain terms of I wasn't going to buy the girls any drinks I could piss off.

I said I would when I was ready I had only been there 20 minuets! And had 2 drinks myself!

She then came back and said this a few more times while giving me the evils from across the bar.

I decided to leave and on the way out explained the basics of customer service and how her actions had just lost her any money I was about to spend.

Don't think she really cared though

  4. Infration in Thailand does seem to be high, I see prices going up quite frequently so as the cost of living rises then yes shops like the one you visited will likely also rise .... however sometimes I see business just abounding a 25% increase out of the blue.

For example the condo I stay at run a a cleaning service 300 baht to clean your room (a reasonably deep clean) then out of no where it's too 400

I wonder what would happen if I want to my boss and asked for a 25% pay rise??? Humm no

  5. What is the point of a Hooters in pattaya, I don't see many punters being like "oh yeh it has the hottest girls in town lets go there" what about the extra curricular activaties?

The same goes for Kyotie Bars, I go to some occasional but just for a warm up drink, occasionaly I'm not going to spend any serious money in there

  6. I still enjoy living in Jomtien and taking my motosyke for a ride around town and stopping off for a few beers and the odd big night out.

There are still a number of resonsbly priced beer bars that have some great looking good fun girls in usually known to the locals (these bars have a great vibe)

The problem is there becoming more of the exeption each year and I'm seeing more bars with litttle or no staff with, go go's are becoming an expensive rip off and looking increasingly like western strip clubs where you get shafted for a 180baht shot and then limited conversation

One of pattayas good points was the Laos back inexpencive party vibe, if it looses that it has little other to offer really

  7. As a fairly young person working in Thailand for a couple of years now I can see changes frequently, things such as prices, demographics of tourists and attitudes.

I think in the future Pattaya of old and today will change into something else. I'm sure this will involve the Chinese but what exactly it will look like we can only speculate.

One thing I have noticed is that the the girls working in the bars seem to be thinning out and quality going down.

This is not to say there aren't great looking Thai girls around, it's just most are spoken for or are going off to university and getting white collar jobs.

  8. About 4 months ago had exactly the same happen to me, but I didn't realise until it was to late. 1000 baht straight out of a sip pocket. 2 people same tactics.

Have to say it was all done very skilfully and I had never been pick pocketed before so i put it down to an experience and lesson learnt

  9. I would imagine going to Pattaya for beer bars and go go,s would be worse during Songkran from what Iv herd most of they girls are back home or out partying with there actual Thai boyfriends

  10. Pattaya is becoming less desirable for real punters because it's reputation has outgrown the standard of service.

There are huge numbers of tourists at night going out to take photos of "sin city" many come on busses for the night, many Russians walking to the supermarkets for there drinks

That's all well and good, ...but it's not Sin City when your walking past a 70 year old Chinese grandmothers with there grand kids in tow.

Prices have also gone up and the attitude from some of these girls has deteriorated and there's far less hot ones.

Roll on Asian treaty, open the doors and let them all flood in!
