  1. @greatful farang

It's true ... I did some research and in Germany they offer all you can shag for 80 euros (4000thb) . . All night including drinks

Sounds good to me lol . . . The only question is that with that kind of offer why are tourists coming to Pat to pay the same for a LT?

  3. I think everyone likes a good winge now and again.

It makes me laugh when you see a comment like 'not only has the price gone up, but there's also less chicken on the plate itself !!

    Ha

  4. yeh and stop tipping bar girls just for cracking open and bringing you a beer !!

I saw a tourist tip 500thb after sitting having 2 beers and the girl didn't even talk to him! I should have asked him if he tipped the bartender in his own country a days wages for the same service.

And what's more, I was in a peppermint the other day (never been before) just wanted to see what the main drag was like now.

One of the girls dancing leans over to me and demands a 100thb tip! What for! What am I tipping for! No money no honey . . yeh well no service no bloody tip!

  5. Thanks for all the comments.

I tried the techniques mentioned when getting my condo pained and grouted getting 20% of the price =) yehh!! result

One thing I did notice was that a small reduction i.e (-25%) was ok to ask for

If you try to come in with a very low offer everything goes a bit stale

especially in a tourist area like Pat where someone else who doesn't know the price will come along soon after. I to have noticed some vendors will refuse to haggle outright (as another poster mentioned)

  6. How do you negotiate correctly in Thailand?

The prices you pay varies a lot and there is no real set price. I know rough what the price of things are but still find it hard to haggle.

Some people have mentioned loss of face . . so how do you negotiate in a appropriate way without causing offence?

  7. It's not really being a hooker in the western sense, I don't think we really have a comparison to back home.

However I think it is fair to say that it can work out if you have a good margin on your budget, you agree the financial rules together and make sure you don't run out of cash or give anything away.

And No Money No Honey. . . Well yes, let's consider the divorce rate in the UK and US, iv seen loads of guys fall on hard times during the recession . and guess what. Divorce!

Also to poster about girls seeing you been here to long. I noticed that to, if they know your a resident the price somehow seems to go up!! Or maybe long time prices are just getting stupid now

  8. It seems most Thais won't work unless you pay larger amounts of money. Negotiation just gets you ignored

I guess many them (including the girls) are just waiting for the unsuspecting tourist these days.

  9. I like Pattaya. I guess if you compare it to the UK it's great . . . If you compare it to Pattaya in the past its not so great.

No one likes price rises and less smiles but that splitting hairs when you think back home.

Have to say though Thai people are looking awfully grumpy these days, I always give a big warm smile but ore and more just confronted with a blank faced 'Mehhh' Kind of response.

  10. Hay everyone.

I recently moved to Pattaya and already I can see how aggressively prices are rising in all areas.

I have heard many people talking about Asean and the open borders to other countries in 2015 4q

What will be the effect on prices in Pattaya? Primarily food, transport, labour (plumbers ect) and lady asking prices :P

    Thanks

  11. Interesting stuff!, both the 3 entry and the investment extension.

How much does the 3 entry cost roughly before you leave? Is it obtained at the embassy . . I took the advice of some other members and online was quoted £125 or so?

With the investment extension of 10m thb can that be based on non tangible assets in the UK, i.e property and shared in UK companies?

  12. Thanks Guy's,

Yes he has been very helpful and again suggested getting a full visa (whatever that entails) followed by a work permit from the LD

Again what I meant by the cost was I don't mind paying for a proper and legit Visa if they are available even if it has a price tag attached.

Sorry to hear about the problems out there, Hope the whole thing will blow over soon and no one gets caught out in the curfew. (looks like going out for a beer when I land is off the card!)

  13. Hay,

I'm buying a condo In Pat,

I'v read a lot about the various Visa's available. However I was told by a Thai who I have a Job interview with that they are now clamping down on Border runs?

If you move out to Thailand and dont want to go back to you home country how would you go about staying out there?

Would it be a triple antry visa and Camboda border runs every 60 days indefinitely until you find a visa upgrade ect? Again money is not an issue i'm happy to put up a few hundred quid a year if it saves me having to get fight home.

    Any info Much appreciated.
