  1. Once again mainly negative remarks about an idea that has been put forward thats all it is.

No wonder the Thai people want t get rid of people like this ,,,most of the time they have negative things to say abut ideas put forward to get rid of illegals because that is what they are not overstays they are illegal immigrants wanting the perks,,,,,,,,, the cheap rents, cheap food beautiful country and great people.

If these moaners dont like it go to Combodia Laos or wherever im sure yu wnt be missed,

  2. In the end all it means is you have to do things properly and legally is that really so hard,, unless you have summt to hide.

I love Thailand, the people ,the food and the culture so nothing will stop me travelling there again or stop me trying to retire there legally.

In 20+ years of travelling to Thailand I have only ever had to do one visa run and that was early during the protests because I could not get a re-arranged flight home.

It appears whatever those in charge try to do and improve things there are always gonna be those that have a serious problem with it,my advice is be legal be happy in the Land of Smiles.

    Best wishes to you all

  3. Some of the replies to this topic make me laugh.

The majority of these people would love the authorities in their home country to have these powers to keep down illegal immigrants, but hey when it could affect them it becomes a harsh penalty.

This is Thailand it belongs to the Thai people if you dont like their laws get the hell out, there are many many westerners who would probably like to be deported because their passports have run out because they have been here so long and have no way of leaving.

There are many legal ways of staying long term if you search them out and invest a bit of time and money.

Be assured it isnt only the Thai authorities that are allegedly accepting bribes and kickbacks it happens in all societies.

  4. Great news about time, the beach at Bahn am Phur (excuse spelling) is a great example plenty of food drink outlets with covered seating.

The operators are great, no hawkers except the odd bookseller.  Loads of room so you have your own space so to speak on beach.

Pattaya beach is an eyesore 20 years ago it was great over the years it has just got ridiculous and filthy.

Wherever you go in this world,   local officials, .police anyone who knows how to screw the system is coining it and I reckon most of the saintly people that post here would not mind a bit of the action.
