  1. Hello guys,

I am from Singapore and going to BKK for the third or fourth time in a row to this wonderful country.

This time round, i am bringing my wife, 2 children both age < 2 yrs old, nanny and my mum.

Hence would like to know if there's any mini bus type of taxi for On-Call booking basis.

Anyone can help me to get some numbers and how much does that cost per trip/day?

I am traveling in January and have the same question. Help anyone.

  2. Panviman resort. Not on the main beach but beautiful with nice rooms including dvd player, waterfall in the giant bathtub. Separate shower, patio with nice furniture, big rooms, nice king size bed. pool is great with swing over the beach (2 palm trees provide) Pool will get crowded early that time of year however.

  3. EVA Evergreen Deluxe is worth every penny of the approx. US$150 extra for return fare.

Seats are almost as roomy as Biz Class, decent legroom for anyone up to 6'2" or so.

I use it exclusively from Vancouver and always get enough sleep that I am not whacked out and achy the next day.

Go with Eva - Evergreen Delux is tops!!!! :o

I agree 100%. go to evaair website and look at the web specials. you can fly evergreen deluxe for around the price you wanted. As for hotels. I like to stay on Ratchada. 13 coins hotel is 15-20 u.s. Next door is the Grand hotel. 40-50 U.S. get a deluxe room double if you want a lady friend along. Best breakfast I have experienced. Stay away from the Emerald because it smells of mildew. Merchant Court is overpriced for me, but a nice hotel. My Thai GF refuses to stay there because they ask her to show id like a bargirl. If you stay near Ratchada, eat at the 13 coins and go to the El Gaucho restaraunt on the 3rd floor. Very nice atmosphere, early evening entertainment and a laid back environment. Of course, all the large entertainment areas are near. But that is for another forum.

  4. I don't know where on this bloody universe did you get that weird and strange idea about God kicking Adam and Eve from Garden of Eden for having sex!!

    :o:D:D

Are you saying Cain and Abel marry each other too??

    :D:D:D

This is the most pathetic statement I've ever come across!! :D:D:D

YOu know, you sure can be a professional clown or a stand-up comedy! :D

Genesis. Eating the apple was a metaphor for sex. It was forbidden as in the forbidden fruit. Additionally, Cain killed Abel. Cain and Abel were the result of the marital relationship of Adam and Eve. And of course it was a joke.

  5. Women in the U.S. have different problems than in Thailand. However, Thai women have just as many problems. Come to think of it, all woman are problematic. It is marriage that is evil. In the Jewish/Christian religions, God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden for having sex against his command. Original Sin. What punishment did God hand out? Why he made them leave the Garden of Eden and get married. So marriage is a punishment from God. If being kicked out of the garden of Eden wasn't bad enough, God reinforced the problem with marriage by the story of Cain and Abel. What else should we be told in the Bible. Woman are not evil. Men are not evil. It is the original punishment from God that we should all stay away from. Marriage is punishment.

  6. Use a lawyer. Once it is denied, there is really very little chance of winning on an appeal. I prepared a fiance visa app for a friend of mine and his now thai wife back in 2002. As I am a lawyer, it was not that difficult. Maybe it is not that difficult for others. However, documentation is the key. Half a-- jobs mean half the chance to get her in the U.S. Dont take a chance, use a legitimate lawyer in Thailand. One who is from the U.S. can represent you at the embassy. Good luck. P.S. I am not in Thailand and certainly not soliciting work.

  7. obviously i am from the usa. (doninusa) I have been all over the world as well. In the UK I attended Queens college Oxford. people in London are like people in new york city. big city, big jerks. Bangkok seems to be one of the few big cities where people are still accomodating. I like to think of the world as big city versus small town. I have yet to find predominately rude people in a small town anywhere, usa, uk, thailand or even, gulp, france. The larger the city, the less friendly the people.

As for political discussions, who cares. the average citizen can do nothing anywhere. big corporations are now in charge everywhere. welcome to the geocorporate conglomerate ruling the world.

  8. I'm in Ubon right now.

Any one fancy a game of golf.

I was thinking of going out to the Dam Course.

    I have transport.

how long will you be in ubon. my best friend will be back in 3 weeks. i cannot go this trip. we always swing out to the dam course. Last time cleared the water and over the green on number 9. The caddies just shake their heads about distance. pity i cannot putt. anyway, let me know if you will be in ubon at the end of feb as he would probably be up for a game.

  9. my thai gf came to the us recently. she was a clean freak here. Her home in issan is spotless. My friends thai wife is one of the most orderly clean neat freak. She always wants to help me out at my house by moving the furniture to vacuum behind the couch and cannot believe i do not move the furniture every week. I am sure that every thai person is different. However, on the whole, I find most thai people are cleaner than people in the us. And this is from a person who grew up with a mother who was the cleaning freak of all time.

  10. If u enjoy soccer, go for it, I think it is a great game to play, but pretty boring to watch. 1-0 or 0-0 games are not my cup of coffee (Tea is that sissy stuff we throw in Boston Harbor).

Didn't the French have to come and help your mob out a few years after that tea party you had in Boston? :o

That is below the belt. Everyone dislikes the french. But then again they do play soccer, don't they.

I do think that the Americans did win that one however.

Face it the majority of the world likes the soccer/fubol. But then again, so what. Maybe it does explain the lack of upper body strength because of the prohibition against touching the ball. The rest of the world will never understand american football. That is okay. God only knows what would happen to the sport if the french started to like it.

  11. as for the question of getting american football games in thailand. have a relative hookup a slingbox. that is a device that can be purchased for 250 dollars in the us. they can hook it up to a computer and their extra cable or dvr. then you can access it from thailand on your computer. if you have high speed that is. you can control the cable/dvr from thailand and watch the games that way. I have a friend that cant miss college football and usually sets his up when he visits the inlaws. as long as the speed is 512 or above, picture is okay. 1 meg or higher and it looks great.

    good luck

ps here is the website http://www.slingmedia.com/

  12. I am married to an isaan girl and we live in england.

Her family are in isaan and although we (both) have no immediate burning desire to return to thailand its a retirement option in maybe 10-12 years, so buying now would be an idea

What are the basic rules/steps - if I was in england i would just get a solicitor !

    like

how do you prove boundaries, ownership

can i own or must my wife buy

if my wife buys how do i protect my self or is it just on trust

how do you register your onership

how do you know its not mortgaged to the hilt (as has happened to me once on a recent visit...asking price 50,000 at last minute owner told wife owed bank 100,000 on it)

How do i stop thai people colonising it while i am in england !

what other pitfalls are there ?

she buys and you get two thirty year leases. also, you can own any house you build even if she owns the land.

  13. cricket is an interesting game. However, I don't have 3-5 days at 6 hours a day to watch a match. I thought baseball took a long time when we had a 5 hour 18 inning game the other day. Perhaps the English have too much time on their hands. Just kidding. With regards to the guts it takes to play cricket, it is obviously a hard throwing game. With baseball you can have near 100 mph or over, ie Nolan Ryan. It is routine to throw up the ladder at a batter who crowds the plate. In high school or college, the ball comes off the aluminum bat at such speeds that several pitchers are seriously injured or killed each year.

One thing should be absolutely clear, cricket and baseball are both far superior to futbol/soccer. That is a nancy boy sport if ever there was one. Soccer/futbol players throw like girls.
